    How do you create a warm environment on your forum?

    Are there any tricks or tips to creating a warm and welcoming environment on your forum that encourages forum members to stay and post or interact with the community more?

    Say hello to each member daily as they come to the forum. Allow members to post a welcome thread where they talk about themselves and encourage each person to update the welcome thread as new developments happen in their life/career.

    Take time to talk to each person that visits your forum. Get them engaged in conversations. Remember what your forum members talked about in other threads and weave this information in when speaking to them again, such as '... do you remember that situation when you...?'. This lets the person know you are tuned into them.

    I prefer a welcome mat that is a personal message from the admin. To be frank, I hate receiving that automated response to my approved registration telling me that I am welcome, etc. How about receiving a message something like this – hi, I recognize you from another forum and I’m glad you are lending your popularity to our forum. That’s what I mean by a personal message, something that is not obviously an automated response. But I understand that you will need a creative writer for such welcome messages.
