    How many private messages can forum members send?

    Private messages can be used by forum members as a tool to talk with friends on forum but also for bad reasons such as spamming. And, this makes the private message system an area where you constantly need to monitor activity.

    Do you limit how many private messages each forum member can send per hour or day?

    Though you can't actually spy on what members are posting, you should take measures to ensure no one member is sending too many messages daily. And, these stats should be in your forum activity log.

    Initially, new members cannot send messages until after their tenth forum post. This prevents spammers from signing up just for the purpose of sending private spam messages to others.

    I think that after registration and confirmation of ones account, you can be able to send any amount of private messages to any member on the forum you're subscribed to as long as your private messages aren't violating any forum rules and regulations. You can even send to the forum owners as well and they can reply you as well if they feel like it.
