Owning a forum vs Managing a forum

I'm a forum owner and forum admin/mod on several forums and for me, the experience is very different. With my own forum, there are a million little details I have to manage by myself (I like to be hands on, even when I have staff). But, as admin or mod on a forum, there are always others who are there, so it's like working as part of a team. And, all the pressure doesn't just fall on my head as it does with forum ownership. What's your thoughts about owning a forum vs managing a forum? Is the experience much the same or different for you?

As a forum owner, you always have to deal with the stress when your forum membership or earnings are down. And, usually a site admin or mod won't actually feel these pressures as they are busy handling the day to day aspects of forum management, rather than thinking future tense as to how well the community is thriving.

All the heavy weight of failure falls on the forum owner's shoulders, not those of the forum admin. Though admin is a very tough job, they don't bear the burden of financial loss if the forum fails.

At first, you will more likely be both owning and managing your forum. Your enthusiasm cannot be denied. Now the problem comes if you have a job and some other important concerns. As the admin of your forum, it will require you to be there all the time. So how can you attend to your other regular chores? That’s the reason to hire an admin. That will leave you with the task of being owner and will be relieved of the heavier admin duties.
