Flood control on your forum

Flood control is a method by which you can control the frequency or rate at which a forum member posts on your forum. So for instance, you might only allow one post per minute. And, if the person tries to post more than that, they will get a warning that prevents them from posting until the time has elapsed. However, some forums don't have flood control but issue warnings if you post too fast. They will say, 'you are flooding the forum' and that means you are posting too fast. Which method is better for flood control, a mod that prevents fast posting or moderators who issue warning and delete posts?

If a forum has flood control, that is a good measure to keep the site from being spammed. Many times a spammer will simply show up with software and post hundreds of spam comments. So flood control slows them down.

I have been to forums with that flood control warning. This is not to brag but sometimes I am too quick on posting when my enthusiasm is at its peak. Think of my feelings when I would be faced with such a warning as if I was spamming or committing a violation. And to think that I never post one-liners, that’s really offending to me. My suggestion is to do away with that flood control and let the community enjoy their posting. The more restrictions, the lesser enjoyment.
