    How many forums have you shut down?

    Most successful forum owners, have a string of failed (or moderately successful) forums behind them. Each forum played a role in the current forum success. Yet, many of these starter forums got shut down. So how many forums have you operated and closed? And, what was your reason for shutting down each forum?

    I've been part of a few forums that were shut down and it's always an unsettling experience as you have to find a new place to call home.

    I have shut down many of my forums because despite how hard I tried, I couldn't get any activity and it just ended up me posting to myself to be honest. If there were a couple of active members, i'm sure the forum would have stayed open but what is the point in operating a forum which has nobody posting while you pay for monthly hosting. I know it takes time but you know your forum has failed if it doesn't have one person (expect for youself) logging in once every couple of days at least when you have promoted your forum everywhere.

    I've had a few tester forums that I started on a whim just to try out the idea. And, after a few days working on it, got bored and just abandoned the project. But so far, never shut down a fully fledged forum.

    I have shut down two forums. One was called MY LIfe sucks and another was called LIfe Rocks. The former was dedicated to discussion on every day problems and later was dedicated to discussion on celebration of life. I shut down these forums because I did not have time to manage these forums.
