The worst reason to close a discussion

One of the worst reasons I've seen for closing a discussion is when the admin poses a topic or question and others don't seem to agree with his point of view. Have you seen this happening on other forums? And, what do you think is the worst reason for closing a discussion to new responses?

Another bad reason to close a topic is if it doesn't get responses. Why not just respond to the discussion, rather than locking it?

Another reason is when a serious discussion converted into fun because of some nonsense people.

Unless the discussion has been over run by trolling and nonsense or spam posts, there is no reason to lock it.

A heated argument is the usual reason for locking a thread that I had seen so many times in some local forums here. Maybe our culture has given us the propensity to argue. Anyway, when there is a flame war, it is imperative to lock the discussion to extinguish the fire of emotions especially when the war is between two groups or several members. It so happened that the warring members would create another discussion to continue the argument so the admin would again lock it. And you know what happened in the end? That hide and seek affair became the talk of the community that it was a big discussion that later on was joined by the warring parties but already in their sober condition.
