Running a forum can take a lot of work and often be stressful. Add to that, stress which can happen when forum members show up and start posting in a bad attitude and it might be enough to put you in a bad mood. Just take some time away from the situation, even a few minutes to collect your thoughts. Refuse to allow yourself to be goaded or bullied into immediate action no matter what is going on. If needed, lock a thread so no further action can be taken by forum members. Just give yourself and your forum members time to cool off before drastic action is taken.

Just remember, you own or manage the forum. So you have to be the adult in this situation and set a good example for others who might be losing their tempers and acting hot headed.

I commiserate with the forum admin on this issue because I understand the rigors of running a forum. What if you have a personal problem like family or job, you may not be able to get hold of yourself when you see something unpleasant in your forum. What I can suggest in those times is to take a leave from your forum. Managing the forum when you are not emotionally fit will just complicate matters. Worse, your unwarranted action may affect the well-being of your forum. Take a leave and relax for some time.
