    Are all forums destined to die?

    Is it possible all forums are destined to die? Is there no way to keep a forum running for five, ten or fifteen years or more?

    Even the best forum will have it's best days and over time, fall out of favor, when forum members find new places to hang out online.

    Yes all will eventually die for some reason or another, but that has to be expected. Just as in human life nothing can live for ever.

    I wouldn't say that they are all destined to die, but I will say that they are hard to keep going and active. I have had mine (XboxLiveFan.org) for going on 3 Year in a few months time and I have lots of plans for it and still intend to keep it going for many, many years to come. Are all forums destined to die?

    A forum will flourish if the forum owner loves it enough and will work hard enough to keep it going. Then it cannot die. Though it might undergo transformation.

    I know of a very active forum that started in 2006 and it seems that it’s still the same old forum as before. Maybe if the forum is operated in the proper way and the owner has the passion and the time for the forum, it will not die just like that. There are lull times or silent period for a forum that posts become infrequent but it’s natural. The best thing is there are the admin and mods to continue with the posting so there will always be activity to speak of.
