What would you do if your favorite forum was down?

Sometimes when doing my forum posting gigs, a forum that I'm posting on will be down with database errors, so I can't get onto the site and complete the gig. This is not related to anything I can change as I don't own the forum. Just wondering what you would do in a similar situation if you are working for a client and their site is down. How do you handle that situation so as not to miss a deadline or get too far behind in your work?

I guess I would contact the client and see what they suggest be done about it.

That's a good idea actually. Though, it's a very big forum which was having database trouble and I don't know who the admin on the site is. I will look around and try to find a contact email. Though the site is doing better now.

On one of the sites that I was completing a gig, the site was hacked (i think) and never came back up and my attempts to contact the forum owner were not successful as they never bothered to respond. I am always concerned in that type of situation.

I just normally do other things while the website is down, then I get back on when it comes back up.

It helps to have more than one gig or project to work on. But sometimes, I really need to make progress on a specific project.

Yeah that is true, I also tend to just work on my own website as well.

Well really if the site is down it is not your fault. Just wait a bit and see if it is up and running soon and hope for the best.
