Would you open fake accounts on your forum?

Have you ever been so desperate for new posts on your forum (as forum owner) that you opened fake accounts and posted discussions/responses just to stimulate forum activity and get forum members involved? Did this idea work for getting your forum busy again?

I've done this before but not recently. It's a good idea, if you need new forum discussions (and your forum members are not active) but you don't have money for forum posting services. Sometimes, just seeing a new face on forum is all it takes to motivate the forum community to come back to make comments.

Yes it is a good idea to get some activity onto your site. This will draw others to your site and see that you have "more" members.

I think that when you have a new forum this is not a bad idea to do. It makes the forum look visited and then others may be more likely to open an account. And if many do this then you will not be needing the fake accounts for very long.

Also, new content is good for SEO purposes as your site is being constantly updated.

Right Beverly, the more content that you have being updated the better.

And, it helps just having limited subcategories or else you will have many areas of your forum that are not updated regularly. That's especially true if your forum membership is inactive.

So long as you have new posts being made on your forum all the time, then it doesn't really matter who is making them.

I think it’s a nice idea especially if you have the time toindulge in posting using an alias. I don’t see anything wrong with it because
your posts are legit although the poster’s name is fictitious. But then it is
the substance of the post that matters and not really the poster. As they say
in music, it is the song and not the singer that matters. However, if the forum
is getting dynamic with new members and a good number of posts, that fake
account can be put to rest.
