A strong site architecture is important for various reasons. When done well it can be helpful for SEO purposes, as well as to benefit the users of the site. Your site architecture should be analyzed from time to time so as to consider what could be improved. For example, one should evaluate whether the site's navigation is clean, or whether it seems too cluttered. The internal links should be reviewed so as to see whether they are using effective anchor text. These aspects should be checked out during a site audit so as to keep improving the overall site architecture. What do you consider?

First I start with the top navigation. I'll have a basic menu bar with my home, about us, services (if it's a service type website), contact us, etc. If some of those links need a drop down, I'll make sure the dropdowns are elegant and easy to understand. I've seen some dropdowns that are so cluttered that I just close the website because I can't navigate them very well.
Next I'll focus on how the website flows downwards. If my eyes aren't naturally pulled down the page, it's a failed design. You always want a person to keep reading your website and getting them pulled in is key. I use eye catching images and use different fonts for titles and content within the page. This was it give an artificial break in the page and people don't feel they are on your site for too long even if they've been there for 5 minutes.
In the footer you need all your important links as well as your contact information. Not having these will actually go against some TOS pages for advertising platforms and you could see your ads being suspended because you don't show your business info.
