Choosing the name of your blog / website.

Creating the blog / website name can be a real headache for some people. Creativity is always an extra factor to solve this kind of problem, because a creative name is always something that attracts the attention of visitors. But unfortunately the "creativity" factor is not something that resides in everyone.

So, these people usually take too long to choose a name (after all, it can't be changed). How do you decide that?

When I'm choosing a domain name I'll write down 10 business names that I want to brand, and then I'll start searching for what is available. Usually most of them will be taken, and that's fine because I have many others that aren't Choosing the name of your blog / website.

I'll then pick one of the winners and go with it.

If you get too attached to a specific domain name, and it's taken, you're going to be heartbroken when you can't purchase it. Or you'll be heartbroken when you can purchase it in an auction or buy out, but can't afford it. You'll need to think of spin off domain names related to what you want to get in order to keep your mind at ease about your selection.

There have been times when it took me a few weeks to pick the right domain name for my new website I want to launch, which is very time consuming because I can look up a ton of domains in one day lol.

Try to keep the domain short and sweet, and not too complicated at the same time. If your ideal domain is mytopmarketingconsultantintheusa.com is taken but you want it to then be mymcitusa.com it will be hard to remember. Just think of something that will work, something that is short and sweet and something that can easily be remembered.

Remember, almost anything can be branded as long as it's short and sweet and also easy to remember Choosing the name of your blog / website.

After writing this up, I noticed Cristian wrote up a pretty good Discussion about picking the right domain. Here it is: https://www.seoclerks.com/faq/2425...the-right-domain

I think not overthinking it is a good advice to take in this situation. Most of the time, the name you will come up with will probably have been taken already since there are already millions of blogs at this point, so you probably won't get whatever you come up with especially if it's a good one. Another part of it is that if it's too unique, it can also work against you, since even if it can separate you from the rest, it may make the name a little bit more difficult to remember or memorize. The best way is to just come up with some good enough names from a collection of keywords that you think are applicable to your blog, and either narrow it down from there or combine them to make something unique but still general enough to be remembered.

Did you say to not overthink? How does one do that, lol? In all seriousness, I agree with you here. It has to be a snappy and original name, but the creative content is what I would be more worried about. I never thought about the fact that it being TOO unique could be a bad thing too. That's a good point--people could brush across your title in social media or in search engines and just not feel a connection to it, and then they will not visit your blog or site. Good points here. Brainstorming and listing possibilities and then narrowing down the best keywords to have in your blog title might be the best idea, to start with.

I think of website or the blog name very calmly. I think of how I can make use of it in the years to come. That's the way I am looking at these set of the business. And that's how I am learning how to use the blog and other details for the website.

In order to make the brand it can be reasonable to make use of the logo and the proper name. If you can make use of that then it can be good enough in the long run. You can't easily say that blog names are easily manageable.

Branding is a skill that takes time for any small and big blog to manage. I think if you can work harder then it's doable. Otherwise you have to work harder on some random name to get it popular.

This reminds me of our boutique. It took me days to think of a name because I wanted it to be meaningful. The suggestion was to include my name, initials or nickname. But I settled for the address which was Sikap Eleven because the address is 11 Sikap st. The name Sikap Eleven sounds like Seven Eleven. With our blog, it is about pets and it didn't take long for us to name it Petizone.

The associations that you made were very interesting (and kinda funny... in a good way of course, haha) and resulted in a pretty cool name. Although it took only a few days... Was your conclusion in the process easy or complicated?

It not easy choosing a domain name. Can just recall the little stress I went through when I was to give a name to my recently launched blog. After coming up with a domain name, I went to buy from Godaddy, just to find out that it has been picked already and I had to start raking my head again for a new name.Thank goodness I was able to still purchase a unique name finally.

It's definitely not an easy decision because it's a name that will represent your business (and can't be changed so easily). So, efore the final decision is made, it really takes a lot of planning and, even when you can create something new, someone has already chosen it before (this is very frustrating, haha).

When I want to create a blog name, I would search Godaddy for the name list first. Of course most of the names are taken but with catchy names, it is worth to name it on my blog. You can find tons of catchy and killer names there. Don't have to use my brain for ideas.

Choosing a domain name can be quite a stressful task especially for those that lack the spirit of creativity in them. However, like Razzy suggested above, taking your time to research about the already taken domain in the business you're planning to go into can give you an insight on how to set up what you want as well. It is through that that you can then decide to spin things up to create your desired domain for originality will always stand you out.

oh i love short domains and it's mostly hard to find. sometime i spend hours nad hours in searching for right domain, but i also had success with some brendable domain names not even related to niche of my website and i guess it's not bad idea too. I know that keywords in domain name means good for SEO, but i still don't like long domain like bestonlinetoysshopping.blabla ... Choosing the name of your blog / website.

The name I choose for the blog and website reflects the niche of my website. I have a blog named Travel Nepal, the blog is about traveling to Nepal. It features guide articles. Another blog is titled Wellbeing and Wellness Mag, the blog contains articles on mental and physical healing. The name I have for the blog does justice to its niche. When you want to name your blog the first question you should answer is "what is the niche?" Once you are clear about the kinds of contents you are going to have on your blog, it will be easy to come up with a name. Your blog name should contain your primary keyword.

It's such a hard thing especially to come up with a truly creative and unique name that a lot of people will like and remember. It's a difficult thing but you can easily come up with a name if you spend a bit of time on it. The only thing that you have to do is come up with a few words and then brainstorm different names around those words. That's what I do and it always works for me.

You just say two words that can make us spend more time than we can imagine: creativity and uniqueness.

To achieve this nowadays is a real reason to celebrate because this is something extremely difficult... But starting with a good brainstorm is always a great way to clear ideas.

When I make up a new domain name for a new website. I always try to get a .com because everyone goes to the .com first if you give them your website address. The next thing I do is to think of a name and different alterations of the domain name. And most of the time I will get the domain name in 2 or 3 short words.

Browsers take dot com by default because it is the oldest extension. However, it is also most used domain extension and it is difficult to get a name you want. There are many alternatives. You can choose one of the old extensions like info, net org, or even the new ones like xyz, club, online. Since these extensions are new you can easily find the domain name you want. These new domains are being recognized by people.

It can be quite difficult to think of a good name for your blog. I actually spent quite a lot of time to think about a catchy title for my blog. I also asked my friends for their opinions. However, I believe that your contents will always be more important. I have come across some websites/blogs with really good names but they had poor contents. Always make sure that you write quality articles and write about things which are trending. The most important thing of all is advertising. Advertising is the lifeblood of every business.

Well, choosing a proper name can be savage. One way to make a decision is to make a list of the possible names you like. Try to make them related to the inner use of your site. Then I guess you will have to check if those names are available, right now is kind of hard to find a unique, available name. Another way is to ask for help from your friends, or family, sometimes they can have very good ideas.

After a good brainstorm, making a list of possible names is always a great start to getting things started. So, after this... Just go doing the exclusions and choose the champion name (still may not be easy, but it helps).

If you're picking a name, then it will probably need a .com equivalent and not all .coms are available. Note, a .com doesn't need to have the domain extension in the marketing. For instance, JobsInOttawa.net must be advertised as JobsInOttawa.net, but JobsInOttawa.com can just be called JobsInOttawa or Jobs In Ottawa.

Whats in a name? Simply everything..it is important to have a name that is going to attract users. Maybe before you decide to name your blog or website..check with friends, family and see what is the most appealing. The problem is that there may be duplicates of the name out there and it might hinder your progress on the name you might like to use.

Your business name should have a nice ring to it. It shouldn't be too long or be in shorthand. Most importantly - it has to appeal to your particular audience. Whether it be fans of a certain music or film genre, certain apparel or fashion-wear or particular gender based topics. The site visitor needs to feel that your site or online space is a place tailor made for them and their topics of discussion.

Choosing a name or title for your blog is the pioneer or maiden step that must be taken while setting up your blog. Your blog must be given a unique title and this represents your blog identity or address. The blog address is likened to a shop front or shop address online. It bears the name of your blog and is related to your blog niche. It's highly against SEO to choose a blog title that is contrary to the blog niche. It affects the search engine optimization on your blog.

I think knowing the niche will help in choosing a good title for the website. This is why it is important to start running a free hosted website so you can change your website's name frequently until you find the one you want.

It is also advisable to get some suggestions from other freelance writers. The title of the blog will greatly influence the type of content you will post. I never have problems creating titles. As long as you say what you want, I have just the right words to call it.

Do you mean to say that a free-hosting site also provides a free domain name for use? I haven’t checked it yet but that is a good deal especially if you are a new website owner. At least that can give me the freedom to test the waters without spending for the hosting cost and the domain cost as well. Can you give me an example of a free hosting site where I can create my personal website for testing?

I decided that the name has to be easy to type and easy to remember, for me. Because if it's easy for me I figure it's easy for others.

That is right and very well said. The easier the better. No need to make the name of the blogs complicated. People should remember the blog names always and quickly.

I think what makes it easier is to be natural when it comes to creating a blog or content. Don't think to much or find wonderful words or anything to please anyone because it can give you headache. All you have to do is be natural create something new in your own way and don't mind the quality of words or expectation of others just express yourself and everything will become easy and will have continuity or you can really maintain your pace. Your title is what you are and it accords with your content.
