Twitter is the best place to get free traffic for your blog

Twitter's ability to have something "go viral" is a huge benefit of the platform that many other options lack, and for that reason I'm inclined to say twitter is the best option for advertising. It's a lot easier to have something shared even beyond the reach of what you paid to have advertised because the platform is pretty much dedicated to posting things that are shared (retweeted) to other people who in turn retweet it to even more people, creating a chain that goes far beyond the reach you could have on other platforms. While other sources may have more users, I think the benefit of the platform being aimed towards easy sharing helps give Twitter an edge.

Agreed. However, to make best use of Twitter you should have human followers. I don't know how it happens, but sometimes bots begin to follow you. Likewise, your followers should be genuinely interested in your contents. In order to build followers, people begin to follow every Tom, Dick and Harry in a hope that they will be followed back. You will gain followers, however they are just numbers if they do not interact with your tweets.

I also agree with you. And I even would like some tips to get more followers on Twitter. I have been active daily there but the number of followers is still very small.

One of the ways to maximize your twitter promotion when you do not have a large following is getting retweets. For instance, you have 1000 followers and your 10 followers have 1000 followers each. If these ten followers retweets, you will reach 11000 people. The basics of getting traffic from twitter is getting retweets.

Maybe the employment of bots as your followers is a means of testing the waters if their bots are effective. When talking of followers, it is always the human traffic that is the subject because traffic from bots can just compromise your site especially that Facebook is now on the warpath against bots they are cleaning up their yard. Maybe Google will be following the act that we should be aware of the risk of bots.

In my opinion, people create twitter bots in order to generate a lot of followers and fool other people by doing infleuncer marketing or selling followers. The twitter bots are damaging twitter. If you have human followers, you will certainly benefit from twitter. Twitter is the best place to share links and get traffic to your links.

Finally, somebody that sees how valuable and amazing Twitter is! People often say that Facebook is the best for blogs but I tend to disagree. When I was trying to get more traffic on my blog, I used Twitter and I was amazed by the results. You just really have to use the hashtags, make good content, frequent tweets, build a followers base, and post the links to your blogs! It's really not that hard once you figure out the correct formula and I think that it's better than Facebook.

That's where those hashtags come to work. But I wonder if how far those hashtags would reach? I mean for sure there are somewhat similar hashtags out there of course. How would other twitter users know and see your hashtags? Do you have to constantly retweet any relevant tweets? Sorry kinda newbie in Twitter.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Tronia
Yep! That's exactly how. You can, for example, keep putting the same hashtag into your tweets and if you have a large followers base, they retweet it/or use it themselves when replying. That's generally how to get the hashtags out there. Your main point is to get them trending.

I am sure that you have seen some weird hashtags in the trending section of Twitter before? And you wondered what the hell they're about? How did they get there? Now you understand the basic formula Twitter is the best place to get free traffic for your blog it isn't easy though because there's a lot of competition.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I see. So that is where retweets come to work too. But yeah, you must have a somewhat large follower base in order for you to gain some traffic nonetheless.

Yes I've seen it and I immediately searched it before if what it's for then I found out. The competition is tough on Twitter than on Facebook I guess that's why I said promoting on FB is much easier because you can just drop your link to any group or page similar to whatever you are promoting, etc.

I don't know about Twitter, I haven't really shared something from there that got so many likes and went viral even for just an hour. Lol. I would prefer Facebook over Twitter though. Maybe because I am just used to sharing stuffs in there and probably because of the pages or groups also which makes it even easier to share anything.

Between Facebook and Twitter, which one is best depends on the number of followers you have. You will get more engagements on the platform where you have more followers. For instance, if you have 1000 friends on facebook but 5000 followers on twitter, you will get more link visits on twitter than on facebook.
I have not tried paid advertising on twitter therefore I cannot say anything about promoting tweets.

Hi, like galegatling said, facebook is still the best social media to get fee traffic with over two billion users. I will even count google before considering twitter.
I will rather promote my blog on IG than twitter.

Personally I think that writers need to understand the social media era where everything is social media if you are a blogger and need to ve successful then better know how to have good and interesting conversations on both twitter and Instagram, Other wise you're done :-( And yes I personally believe that twitter is best to gain traffics on your blogs.

I think this is true, because from my experience, I get more organic traffic from traffic. You share a link and you'll be surprised how far and wide it will go on twitter.

Facebook is another good avenue but I think twitter does it better

I have seen some of the publishers and curator using the twitter. However not sure how much blog traffic is possible with it. As you can see this means you have to find out what are some of the good options in that case. I think twitter and facebook has their own share of the limits. But the thing is that other publishers and the curators look for the content online. And they build their own traffic based on that.

In order to generate traffic from twitter, you need a large following, followers who are genuinely interested in your content, and a lot of retweets. Small following will generate small traffic, a large following will generate a lot of traffic. If you get retweets, you will reach more people and generate more traffic.

I think in order to generate traffic from the twitter. You have to be really thinking the promotion way. Some of the time it may be different for each one of us. I guess traffic may work in that context. It may be a bit different to get followers and for promotion.

You can also promote your tweet. By doing paid advertisement on Twitter, you can pull traffic. The key to getting traffic from twitter is to share valuable contents. You also need to write a teaser and use related hashtags.

Lately I have realized the potential of Twitter when it comes to traffic. Although some people think that other social media platforms are better to promote blogs or websites on, I see them all as equal and it is always up to the publisher to make a way as to how people will click the link for their sites.

Yes there seems to be ups and down on twitter. Some of the people often have the case for the influencers. Those may not be able to get traffic there. You may have to understand that websites often may not always get traffic. There seems to be the case with some influencers not able to make much impact on traffic.

I have studied many strategies for increasing traffic with twitter. I think the use of gifs, can be a good option for people to click on links.

Well, I wouldn't say Twitter is the best place to get free traffic for your blog. However, I will say Twitter is by far the easiest place to receive traffic on your blog or website in general. Keep in mind, a lot of traffic you get from Twitter won't probably stick. However, free traffic is free traffic at the end of the day. So why not take advantage of it? The best success I've had with Twitter is affiliate link promotion. Usually what I'll do is a build an account up to 5k followers. Then start spamming it with different affiliate offers and services I get life time commissions on. I've somewhat found success with this, though Twitter isn't my main source of traffic. Nevertheless, it can still be used as a viable means of getting a few leads.

I think Facebook is still the best bet, because they seem to have the most "human" followers, and those that might actually be interested in your content and want to share it. It is the site that most people have an account on and utilize at least some of the time.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Can you please elaborate when you say most "human" followers? Correct me if I'm wrong, do you mean that there are also non-human aka bots as followers who are scripted to do those tasks? o.O

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I don't know but others on here are alluding to the fact that there are several bots on Twitter who are doing at least some the following. Read some of their comments and you will likely come to the same conclusion. It is one of the ways Twitter makes life easier for itself I think.

In fact Facebook is still better for this strategy. But I'd rather believe that Twitter is still a good bet. I'm recently applying efforts to increase my blog's traffic with Twitter. I'll post some tips soon.

You make an interesting point. I have 6.5 K followers on twitter. However, there are numerous bot followers. I don't know how I ended having bot followers. However, on facebook I have only humans as followers and friends.

Yeah, I don't think it hurts to promote your site on twitter, but as a site of reliable human traffic, then I think Facebook is the medium to do that. That would just be my personal opinion on this situation.

I do get engagements on my posts when I share on twitter, however, I think my facebook sharing is more effective because facebook users are humans. On twitter, I don't know whether the followers are humans or not.
The key to get engagements is having a large fan following and the followers genuinely interested in your contents. Having someone interested in gaming following you when you don't share on gaming, does not help you.

I doubted the potential of Twitter for many years, including simply stopped using it in my marketing strategies for my sites. Today I went back to using it and I'm starting to have good results with this social network.

I can really say it's a great bet!

Twitter is not really an exciting place to be as far as I am concerned. Most of the followers I have or who follow me are just random people or businesses. Nothing in terms of people who actually regularly read my material.

Go viral... Hmmm depend how influential you are on Twitter. For many people FB is better, or some other social networks, while i had also very good experience with Twitter regarding getting good traffic and sales too. I do have good amount of Twitter followers who interact very much with my account and my tweets, so it makes my success, but some people don't have such experience...
It's not about Twitter. It's all about, how you using it, strategy, influence, hashtags etc... Not many people use right strategies on Twitter and they give up, then say FB is king, but i would say opposite because i probably don't use best practices on FB as i do on Twitter Twitter is the best place to get free traffic for your blog

yes , do try, it really works out well. You can see your traffic from twitter coming in pretty quickly when you add in images and link together. I tried to add in the same link with 5 different method in one day, great results.

I guess overall you should probably experiment with both to find the source that works for you. It sounds like Twitter with Hashtags or images may be the way to go. Twitter and Facebook just seems to be the way you can get the traffic that works for you.

My sister has tried with all social media ever with her little business, and her experience showed that is not just one site that gives you better traffic, is the ability to handle a bunch of them at same time. Usually same people that follow her on Twitter, will go and follow her on Instagram, Facebook, Google +. It all depends on the preference of the follower or subscriber. If the follower is more visual will go with Facebook or Instagram, if it is more focused will choose Twitter, and so it goes.

Twitter is one of the best traffic source for any blog. You can add twitter widget on your blog freely. Secondly you can add post your every blog post on twitter with some hashtags. Hashtag based twitter post will bring you huge traffic. Every time you will post new blog post with new blog link- twitter will provide you a short link and will show the result on twitter based search result page.

Thanks
Centurion

This is a pretty good way to generate traffic. It will help if you get the right followers. I hope those followers are not bots though.Having the right hashtag does bring in the right audience.

Twitter is a good platform indeed but however Facebook seems to be better to me. I advertise both on Facebook and Twitter but I have been able to get more followers and increase my customer base due to Facebook. I think I am more successful on Facebook as I have been using this platform for a much longer period of time.

If you want to have more traffic from Twitter, you need to spend more times on promotions and having more followers.

Yes, having a lot of followers is the key to get maximum benefits from twitter sharing. Another important point to consider is getting retweets. If you have just 1000 followers but one of your followers who has 10K followers retweeted your link, then your tweet will reach 11K people.

You are right on this. I have been sharing links to my post on twitter in the past two years then monitor the traffic and I could see the number of readers increasing. I also think it depends with the number of followers you have and how well you interact with them.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Twitter can generate traffic, however, whether it is the best platform or not, depends on various factors such as the number of your followers and your followers' interest. More followers mean more traffic. Furthermore, if your followers are not interested in your content, you cannot gain traffic. Therefore, you should always develop followers who are genuinely interested in your niche.

I've said this before but I'll say it again. What people don't mention that gives Twitter like an awesome superpower is the fact that most of the other social networks can feed into Twitter.

My Tumblr and LinkedIn accounts are linked so that when you post to one account, it tweets as well.

My Facebook account can go either way. It can be set up to post from Facebook to Twitter and vice versa. I chose to post my tweets to my Facebook profile and Facebook page.

I use browser extensions like AddThis which make it easy for me to tweet almost any webpage as well as my websites and blogs.

Twitter even made their platform better in two ways.
(1) You can now retweet your own tweets.
(2) The 140 characters limit was doubled to 280. Not just the tweets but your direct messages too.
If you have been using Twitter before these changes then you can see the benefits.

There are so many things that can be done via Twitter with ease. Distributing your blog content. Sharing affiliate referral product links. Chit chatting and expressing your opinions. Also, you can have multiple accounts. By contrast and comparison, sharing via Twitter is the easiest out of all of the other social media platforms.

I was aware of the increase in tweet characters, however, I did not know now twitter also allowed to retweet our own tweet. I think this option is awesome because it saves us time to tweet the same tweet again and again.
I agree that twitter is one of the best platforms for social media marketing. You not only generate social signals that will help you in getting higher rank in SERP but also generate traffic from link visit from the twitter users.

Not only are you allowed to retweet your own tweets but I recently received an eMail from Twitter with the SUBJECT: “Check out your #TBT-worthy Tweets” and they suggested my own tweets for me to retweet for “Throwback Thursday”.

I agree that social media is the best pasture for free marketing of your interest because all you need is an active account and you can instantly post. With Twitter, I have read an advice that retweets are more potent because it is like spreading your tweet. That method is the root of going viral for your tweet. However, there are rules to be followed because spamming is unacceptable everywhere.

I do agree that Twitter is the fastest social media platform when it comes to viral content but that's if your content is interesting enough to get retweeted. Depending on the content structure I'm going for Facebook and YouTube.
