Why blogging about TV shows, Movies and Documentaries pays off

Writing content about TV shows, Movies and Documentaries isn't something new that you can be doing when it comes to blogging.  There are actually many websites that are doing this for fun, and for profit, and that's why it can always pay off.  You know people are making money from this and that means there were people who already forged a path to profits, meaning you don't have to worry about investing a massive amount of time and failing later on.  Various blogs are already making a bunch of money simply from posting content, and I'm not talking about something like rottentomatoes.  There are small bloggers making big money because they've been doing this for so long, and they will continue to do it while fighting the massive companies for top rankings lol.

In this discussion I'll be going over some things you can do, and what you should avoid in the beginning when it comes to writing and blogging about TV shows, Movies, and Documentaries.

Easy to rank for upcoming shows and movies
If you have Netflix or Hulu, you know of a massive amount of shows, movies, and documentaries already.  You can simply start up a blog and review anything you watch on these platforms.  There will be a decent amount of competition for the movie niche because there are usually hundred million dollar blockbusters on there, so I would suggest targetting TV shows or documentaries in the beginning and upgrading to movies later on.  Start with the obscure shows and documentaries because they won't have as much competition, meaning you can rank higher for specific keywords even quicker.

You need to remember, not all new shows will be easy to rank for because they could have been advertised a ton, making them well known before they even go live.  You'll want to target something that not many people are looking for right after the launch date is announced.  You can target movies doing this little trick, but again, you should target tv shows first and upgrade to movies later on.

Become an authority within your niche
This won't happen right away, but it can come to you if you are diligent when it comes to building high-quality content as well as optimizing everything at the same time.  You will need to run your blog like the business it is and do everything professionally.  If you're posting a few 500 word posts a month, you're not going to see much love from the search engines because your competition is posting 2,000 words of content that is optimized, almost daily.

To become the authority you want to be, you need to work twice as hard as your competition.  You will need to watch what they are doing and when they are doing it, and take notes on everything.  If they're posting 10 times a week, you need to be posting 20 times in order to catch up to them at a quicker rate.  Over time, you will notice that the search engines will grant you with more and more traffic each month because they are starting to see you as an authority.  You will also need to focus on getting high-quality niche related backlinks aimed at your website, not some random profile backlinks that won't do much for your rankings.

Starting early so it pays off later
You can't win the race if you never start running, so get started as soon as you can if you want to get in on the Movie, TV show and Documentary review niche.  You will need to start working and getting your website up and running before anything happens, obviously.  Just having a domain name with some pages up and running won't do much, so you will need to start writing content as soon as you can.

Writing up 1 or 2 posts a week will be fine, but if you really want to scare your competition, you will need to be writing 10+ posts that are at least 1,500 words each.  Some of you are saying "That's 15,000 words a week!" and that is a lot of content, but if you want to be competitive you'll have to put in the time and effort before you get great rankings.

People will begin to trust your reviews
Again, this won't happen right away, but eventually, it will start.  The higher quality your content is, the easier it will be for people to read and trust.  If you have a bunch of slang, grammar and spelling errors you won't be seen as an authority, you will be seen as an unintelligent person posting garbage content in order to be online.

When people begin to trust your reviews, you will see a lot more shares going out and bringing in more traffic from social platforms.  Sharing is the best form of flattery when it comes to blogging, so cherish whenever someone wants to show others your work Why blogging about TV shows, Movies and Documentaries pays off

Companies will come to you for advertising
Over time, when you eventually become an authority within your niche by posting 1,500+ word reviews of your favorite movies and shows, you will notice some companies coming to you for advertising.  Of course, you can always post some BuySellAds ads or Adsense to make some revenue from your traffic, but you'll want to target the big corporations who make the movies and shows you're writing about.

Some of you are saying "Well, that might never happen, so why should I even try?" and I can only say that if you don't want to be the best, why are you even putting up a website in the first place?  These companies won't come running right away, you will need to get on their radars first.  If you're posting positive reviews about everything you love, you will likely get them coming quicker than if you post negative reviews about what you're watching.  I would suggest only posting positive reviews about what you like and avoiding any negative reviews, especially negative reviews on big blockbusters, so you can increase your authority within Google as well as the movie and tv companies Why blogging about TV shows, Movies and Documentaries pays off

In Conclusion
This type of blogging isn't always the easiest because you have to watch a lot of shows, and write a ton of content, but it can definitely be worth it in the long run if you stick with it.  You will have to write up at least 1,500 words of content for every review if you want to be seen as an equal, or better, to your competition.  Be sure to have high-quality content too, you can't be adding slang and having a bunch of spelling errors within your content because you will look unintelligent and people will leave almost immediately.  If you want to start doing this, get started now, because it takes a while to get all the content up and running and for the search engines to start sending you traffic Why blogging about TV shows, Movies and Documentaries pays off

Now I have a niche to consider when starting up a new blog, thanks to your post. I also agree that it will require watching many movies or even documentaries for one to come up with a good review. This type of niche really needs patience when it comes to blogging. I think hiring qualified writers to write for you can help in seeing results faster. It is also good you mentioned the high competition. Bloggers who will decide to focus on this niche will need to learn new ways to make their blog outstanding so they can survive the new competition.

It is appropriate for you if you love movies and tv shows because it is like earning while you enjoy. Watching shows is a form of entertainment and after that you start writing the review. That would be a great activity for me because my blogs would definitely have some readers from the fans of those movies and tv shows. Unfortunately I am not fond of watching movies and tv shows so that is not my cup of tea.

With all the review sites out there, I'm not really sure how easy it is to rank for TV shows, movies, and documentaries. However, consistency will build authority and a following, as it would with almost any niche.

I agree. It's definitely an industry that is quite overpopulated which is a problem. Of course, just because it is like that does not mean you shouldn't try. Once in a while, a new site will do extremely well and become one of the big boys. The problem is that it is really hard for a new site to do well in an industry like this. But if you can manage to create content that is unique and interesting then you have a good chance.

Back when Epinions used to be a thriving business, I would write reviews for new music releases, which I found to be really fun! I was generally first to the releases at the time, so my stuff was published quite frequently, which was cool. I made the switch to Reviewstream after Epinions closed down and currently have a couple music reviews online there. I should look into getting back into that.

I haven't considered doing movie or TV show blogging though. I feel as though a ton of people already do that, so it'd be hard to break into. But I guess you never know until you try, right?

I totally agree with companies coming to one for advertising because of tons of traffic one's site would generate from those reviews especially if one is reviewing about different Tv shows, movies and series, these multinational companies would want to have their ads on one site.

Blogging about TV content is a way to show one skill and talents because it must be written in a way that makes people relax and entertained as well.

The problem is that there are so many review sites out there that it would be almost impossible to get started in this niche. Most of these multinational companies will tend to go to one of the big boys to advertise their company which is a problem. Unless you can develop a review site that gets a large amount of views and users, they won't bother to advertise with you

I would love to write music reviews and to get paid for it! That would be like a dream job for me, actually. As mush Hulu, Amazon, and Netflix as I watch, I probably SHOULD be writing reviews about original series and movies, but it just did not occur to me to do so yet since I've been so busy lately with all of my jobs and side-gigs. However, I would be worried about how to make myself stand out as a reviewer, especially when there seem to be so many well-done vloggers out there with all of their tech-savvy and bells and whistles who are way ahead of the curve.

As a person experienced in this online space I can tell you the OP is correct. People these days still consume entertainment on a massive scale. Including overseas markets. So doing reviews, editorials or articles on popular films or tv series will get you a ton of traffic. If you hone your skills enough and produce good content, advertisers from this spectrum will swing through more often as well.

thanks for your suggestion, I never thought of writing a review for tv shows or movies, mostly on products that I used daily. Maybe you are right about it. However where do i write? Hubpages? My own Blog? Do you think 500 words is sufficient?

TV shows documentaries and movies are trending topics. Trending topics receive a lot of visitors in a short time. let me illustrate this. When Games of Thrones was being aired, a lot of people wanted to know more about GOT. If someone published articles on what's happening in GOT, it would receive a lot of views very quickly. If you publish on current topics, you are likely to remain on top. However current topic dies quickly, therefore, you should be publishing too often to remain in the game.

I think TV is ever green niche. People search for some TV show every now and then. Though writing content is a hard part. If that can be done right then I am sure it's possible to get things right. I personally think that some of the blogs can take things lot quicker this way. Though they may have to get more bakclinks for niche such as this to make some decent money. But from what I have seen this is totally doable. And many people can choose to do this. That's what I have learned in the process.

Thank You Razzy. You gave me something new to consider. I didn't realize their was such a market for this, but I bet their is. I may start a new blog! I watch Netflix nearly every night so I think I would classify as a bit of an expert especially when it comes to various sorts of movies and shows. I like terror, murder, comedy and historical drama like the Crown.

I use Netflix quite a lot as well. The market for these types of blogs is quite massive but the problem is that it is quite oversaturated. Plus, sites that blog about tv shows, movies and documentaries rely quite a lot on exclusives and interesting content which may be difficult for a new blog to come up with. But if you can do it well then you can definitely become one of the big boys. I wish you the best of luck with your project.

Are you sure it is oversaturated? When I googled it I didn't find many blogs pertaining to Netflix. I mean no doubt there are some..but It isn't like 10 immediately popped up. Besides if you are a specialist in certain types of movies or TV shows you could become an authority in that niche.

“You can't win the race if you never start running ...” I like that! Why blogging about TV shows, Movies and Documentaries pays off

I enjoy writing reviews of TV shows, movies or documentaries. But my posts are more like casual remarks. That's why I usually share them on a social site that has a laid-back atmosphere and isn't particular about me giving a critique worthy of publication in the Huffington Post Entertainment. But even with doing that I have found can earn some extra income.

I have no interest in becoming a professional reviewer. But if anybody ever needed a justification to get their Netflix binge-watching on, you just gave it to them with this post. This was one of my choices when I was first picking a topic to do for my blog, and I did see a lot of my peers use it and got success from it. Ultimately, I chose against it because I felt it would be too saturated for me and also I didn't want to discuss modern blockbusters and TV shows all that much anyway as I was already losing interest in them by then. Now that I have almost completely lost interest and have not watched many modern movies and TV shows, I know I made the right choice. I could have just gone with writing about older or lesser known movies that I did enjoy, but it would have not gained as much of an audience anyway and I feel like I would have also gotten tired of it a lot faster than the topic I ended up with which is more just like a daily experience blog. I agree that it could be a great topic to get into despite the large amount of existing sites dedicated to the topic though since new shows constantly come out so the market is always fresh with content.

I guess I am going to have to look again, because honestly, I didn't see that many of them. Maybe I need to review my search terms and look again. I know some exist for certain. I think it would be a fascinating niche to get into really.

Fans of tv shows have the penchant to talk about it. In our office, it is common to hear some colleagues talk about the previous night's tv shows that they watched. It follows that they may also enjoy reading blogs about the said tv shows.

This is an amazing area to blog in. You are practically blogging about your hobby, what more can you ask for? I know the competition is stiff because they are probably a million people doing the same thing. What I would do is try and differentiate myself. Make your blog attractive, interesting and funny. I would also choose to blog about a local programme more than an international one. I think there is less competition.

This is indeed a great idea. I do watch a lot of movies and I often leave reviews on IMDB. Maybe I can start blogging about TV shows. However, I will have to spend much time on my blog to be successful in this niche. I think the most important thing will be to create interesting content of high quality. This is what will actually drive more people to your blog. Maybe this is something that I can consider in the future.

I think that now the Internet is saturated with such monotonous content and you can select the few people who develop this niche. I would like to see something new that would attract me as a reader and viewer. For example historical facts from where traditions in movies like a christmas carol or a change of music in scary moments originated. I wrote an essay about the former in college and it's even on https://writix.com/essay-examples/a-christmas-carol in the public domain, but the latter topic is unknown to me. I'd like to see this kind of content, not trivial reviews.
