Why Should I Build Backlinks?

Are you looking to build backlinks yourself or outsource to a freelancer here on SeoClerks? Here are some things you should read prior to doing your linking.


Higher Search Engine Rankings

The main reason for building backlinks is to increase your SEO and Rankings. High quality links to your website help boost your search engine ranking. Search engines program their algorithms to sort out all the links aimed at your website and then they compare them with your competitors. In general, whoever comes out as the winner between you and your competition gets put on the top of the rankings.


You Can Boost Your Page Rank

Page rank is a factor when it comes to ranking websites. PR (Page Rank) isn't updated that often, but when it does you should see a good boost in your rankings if you did everything right.


Get Indexed Faster

If your website is brand new, Google is not likely to come eagerly wanting to see what you have. If you build high quality links aimed at your pages then Google will come knocking and want to crawl your pages. Getting your pages crawled is how you get indexed in their search engine.


Build Brand Authority

When people can find information about your company pretty easily online they will be more at ease to buy, subscribe and come back again. You should focus on obtaining high PR links from credible websites, do guest blogging on high PR websites in your niche and do some press releases that you know will get listed in Google News, Yahoo! News and Bing News. This will build your brand authority and overtime people will just buy from you without looking up who you are.


Not All Backlinks are the Same

There are plenty of services out there that will offer thousands of low quality links for a few dollars, avoid this. This will most definitely have a negative impact on your SEO. Even if you think you're doing everything right, Google could come down on you with the fury of a thousand suns (or so it seems like). Just be careful and focus on high PR links and not the tempting low quality links you can get in the masses.


Building backlinks to your website can be good or bad. High quality backlinks are a key factor when it comes to SEO. Each link is treated as a vote for your website in the search engine algorithm. In a perfect world, a website with the most links should be seen as the most trusted in the eyes of it's users and search engines.

But this isn't a perfect world and backlinks aimed at your site from harmful or shady websites can actually hurt your rankings.

When there are a vast amount of natural and high quality links aimed at your pages you will notice a huge benefit rather than thousands of easy links built overnight. Natural backlinks are from guest posts, blog posts, articles with your links in them and many more platforms.

Interesting article with great information to build backlinks, except pagerank. Not sure which pagerank you mean since Google PR is not working any more, or did you mean SERP?
Also, what is real definition of "untapped backlinks sources"?

I have looked up untapped backlink sources and I can’t really find a proper definition of it but I think examples are very good ways to understand how they work. A few examples include:

Testimonials: If you are using a product or service, then you can give a testimonial of it and normally they will include a link back to your website. A good example of this is your hosting company; you can contact them to see if they need testimonials and I am sure they are happy to leave a link back to your website that is hosted by them.

Blogger Reviews: If you offer a product or service, you can give bloggers a sample for free and they will write a review about your product or service giving you a backlink.

Donation to Webmasters: The idea of this is to donate to dead communities or websites with high page rank and often you will get a backlink in return.

Audio Sharing Backlink: You can create anything and then upload it onto the audio sharing website. It doesn’t matter what you create because all we care about is the backlink associated with it. An example of a website you can use is ReverbNation.

No, I meant PR.

PR doesn't do what it use to, but if you're still targeting websites with a good amount of traffic and has done it's SEO and Marketing correctly, it'll be a great place for a link.

Untapped sources aren't as easy to find if you're in the SEO/Marketing niche. If you're in in a niche like "bearded dragon habitats" and you can find forums and websites related to bearded dragons, there are usually some that offer dofollow links. These are more untapped than the SEO/Marketing niche since people in this niche aren't really looking to increase their rankings by doing SEO and backlinking on the forums. Sure some of them will have signature links and possibly post a link in their comment, but not often. I've noticed that a lot of forums like this have a ton of users who don't even use their signatures because they aren't sure how to or they just don't need to. The users tend not to use their signature very often because they are just coming to the forum to learn and add some information. On a side note, you can also advertise on untapped sources like this because the tend to be cheaper and higher converting ;)

Hi Razzy thanks for your nice post. And you point out some importance thing to make backlink as value of website. Yes backlink too much needed to improve your search rank which part of search engine optimization. Without good quality backlinks you cannot rank your site on several search engine. And you pointed another issue without backlink, you cannot get Page rank (PR). Yes it was very much value on search engine for getting PR by backlink, but lately it is not necessary. Because Google had off to provide PR to any website. And for getting indexing and for building brand authority backlink another importance part.

All are very good information, and it should helpful to understanding value of backlink for any website

You have listed all good points related to backlinking. I will add some more points here.
If your website is backlinked to high quality or authoritative sites, your site is trusted more. For example, if your site is banklinked to a dot gov site, your site will be more trusted.
However, you should stay away backlinking to random sites. Excessive banklinking will harm your site.

A higher search engine ranking is the objective of all website owners in order to get traffic from the users of search engines. But it’s not that easy to get the website in that vantage point of the search list. SEO work must be done and the backlink is one way of getting there. Spreading the backlink of the website is not easy though but you can do it with perseverance and strategy. Forums, blogs, and social media are places where we can place the backlink of our website.
