Shoestring Marketing: How to boost your business while on a budget

We all want to run successful marketing campaigns, but we all don't have the huge budget we see fortune 500 companies spending on their ads.  If you're like me, you tend to work on a shoestring budget for a new website, and that means you're trying to build it up to a point where it's profitable enough to bootstrap itself into success.

Many businesses today will be working on shoestring budgets since there are a lot of them popping up, and there aren't many investors looking to put in a ton of money for a little store to make $1,000 a month.  Instead, we have to buckle down and make our own money as well as push our marketing campaigns towards success.  We have to do it all on our own, get the success we want, and maybe then an investor will become interested lol.

Leverage free traffic from social media platforms
When you're on a shoestring budget, you'll tend to gravitate towards social media platforms to pull in traffic.  This is pretty common since the majority of people out there are on at least one platform you can easily target.

All you have to do is learn your hashtags, start posting, be active within your main categories, and keep the conversations going with all of your potential customers.  The more you can build up your presence on social media platforms, the more likely you'll pull in customers, and they will hopefully turn into returning customers who send in referrals Shoestring Marketing: How to boost your business while on a budget

Take time writing your blog content
It sometimes amazes me when I stumble across a blog that has a few pages of average content on it, but their SEO game is strong.  I think, "They are pulling in a decent amount of traffic with four blog posts?  Imagine what they could be getting if they took time writing their content!" lol Shoestring Marketing: How to boost your business while on a budget

It's no surprise that Content is King because Google and the other search engines will index and rank a quality article so their visitors can find the answers they're looking for.  The problem is that a great article could take a day, or even a week, to craft and publish to your blog.

You need to have blog posts that are a minimum of 1,500 words to attract everyone.  Some people will tell you 500 words and others will tell you 2,500, but 1,500 will do for now, and you can write even longer content when you're publishing tutorials and guides Shoestring Marketing: How to boost your business while on a budget

Create a GMB listing
A GMB or Google My Business listing is free to set up and will never cost you anything.  This is the section of your local searches that shows business along with their reviews, phone numbers, and addresses when you search for something specific like "Mechanic in Detroit."  You will get a few GMB listings for mechanics that took the time to create them, and these top listings tend to get the traffic.

If you're a local business owner who wants some free traffic, you'll want to check out your GMB listing and get that going as soon as you can Shoestring Marketing: How to boost your business while on a budget

Provide guest posts around the internet within your niche
One of the best ways to pull in traffic, boost your SERP rankings, and generate sales is to do high quality guest posts on 3rd party websites within your niche.  This means you will write a guide, tutorial, or long-form content and hand it over to a website related to yours for them to rank better for specific keywords.

Wait?  I'm helping them rank better?!?!

Yup!

You're doing this because you will get a dofollow backlink from the content you've given them, and this will help boost your website within the rankings.  You won't be giving your competitors articles, you'll be giving a website within your industry some content, and that means you won't be hurting your profits Shoestring Marketing: How to boost your business while on a budget

Final Thoughts,
There are hundreds of ways you can do marketing on a shoestring budget to pull in traffic and sales, but the ones I've listed above are a sure-fire way to boost your sales and traffic.  You will be able to get backlinks, build partnerships, and become the authority within your niche over time if you do it right!

I always prefer the free methods that work really well if you put in some time. Not everyone can spend thousands per month on a single ad and not care if it fails, so I do what I can to give back to the community that has helped me over the years.

I mentioned this before, but I didn't have anyone helping me when I started out, and that's the main reason I try to help as many people as possible. I went through a lot of struggles trying to figure out SEO methods, how to boost my conversions, how to run amazing PPC campaigns, and many other things. Now I help when I can, if I have time, so others don't make the same mistakes I did in the past lol Shoestring Marketing: How to boost your business while on a budget
