What do I do with blogger blogs?

In the past I started several blogger blogs. None ever got read much, even if I added a proper url. Now I think it is time either to delete them and save the material or, should I just leave them in case someone reads? I feel more gets read on Facebook or even listened to on youtube or Facebook Live.

OR
Is it worth looking again at the blogs and improving SEO given they are free blogger blogs? I could, of course, store them as just visible to me.

The information on them is, I think useful in its sphere, but these all began when I had less understanding of blogging than I do now. I assume Google ignores its own blog addresses as it knows this is a free blog.

No way could I either combine everything into one blog or pay for lots of seperate web addresses.

To get viewed (unsuccessfully,) I made favicons, tried what little SEO I knew, sorted titles etc. None of it resulted in more than a minimal upsurge in views.

Admittedly I did not use many backlinks or do any promotion other than my own Facebook.

In other words. what is the best thing to do with these blogs. One  is reigious, One for writers, One about my Great Grandmother who was a dancer - I always thought that might be of interest as it covers music halls, but it seems not. I have a few others including one for the cat - she tends to write more on a chat site and Facebook these days. (Human secretary.) Only the cat has ever made me money blogging now I think about it.

Anyway, any advice. I would post links but usually that breaks TOCs on a site.

If you are really serious about blogging, first thing to do is to purchase your own domain and hosting. With free account, you don't have total control of your blog. It can be removed from the host whenever they want it without your permission. Blogging takes time before you could see good results. It is not just about writing a blog and publish it on your website then people will automatically find it. It is not only about what you like to write and people will read it. Choosing a niche is really important. You have to think what does people are searching the internet. This means that you have to do research. People will not read your content if it does not address their concerns. When publishing a blog, you have to do it consistently. Have a regular schedule to post. Your blog should have an opt in form so that you can still reach your readers and update them for your new blog post. And make sure that you are providing them valuable content in exchange for their time or they will leave sooner. You content must be optimized for you to rank high on search engines to gain better traffic on your blog.

Keep in mind that Blogger has no traffic limits. Paid hosting will (in some form or another) impose restrictions on how many visitors your site can handle. The more visitors your site receives the more you will have to pay to host it effectively.

Wordpress hosting plans typically have a maximum number of page views per month. Shared hosting plans typically have limits on concurrent connections (meaning only X number of people can load your site at the same time), CPU usage, and sometimes disk I/O. VPS typically have CPU usage and monthly bandwidth limits.

Oh, I don't know about that, thank you so much for sharing this information to us. I thought it was unlimited but now I know.

"Blogger has no traffic limits". I am very pleased that you said that. I have located two informative articles that address this topic thoroughly.

Most Websites/Blogs Have A Natural Traffic Limit
https://www.dailyblogtips.com/most-websitesblogs-have-a-natural-traffic-limit/

Will Google delete my blogger blog if it starts receiving high traffic? If Yes, then what's that traffic limit?

Thank you. I had no idea page views could be limited on paid hosting. That seems a bit unfair if you pay for a service.

All webhosting packages offer a maximum level of bandwidth. That's why before purchasing a webhosting package you need to at least try to predict the volume of traffic you expect and use that information to choose the right hosting package. To avoid limits being imposed you'd have to go for the pricier hosting package.

Choose the wrong hosting package and you'll experience page load issues. Something that will probably drive away your visitors.

Good advice here. With your own website you are in control of your blogs. I think this one should be done. The siiner the better.

You are right that it is better to have your own paid site for blogging so that you will have the freedom and the ownership will give you peace of mind regarding possible sanctions by the blogging network. However with your own site comes the overhead for the cost of the domain name rental and also the web hosting service. If you are a beginner with blogging then I guess it is wise to just be on Blogger for the free blogging.

Yup, if budget is the issue in starting your own blog, better to start with free blog hosting services like Blogger.

Share your blog in Facebook, look for relevant groups that might be interested in your blog, join and share it to the group. There's a number of ways to attract attention in social media sites, try doing some.

Yes I agree with this and it is a good idea since we can surely gain much readers for our blog if we do this kind of strategy since social media sites are really a very helpful place for our blogs and website.

Yes, I agree with you. There are a lot of facebook community that will increase your views. Like, groups of bloggers and if your blog is about art there are also groups with artist members.

You're right. I'm also astounded by the number of Facebook communities. It seems that just about anyone can profit from an active page. You just have to be friendly and considerate of other people. They're really nice to chat with.

Yes, I agree with you, because a lot of people all around the world are using Facebook as their past time, so there's a lot of chance that they can see the blog that you share on Facebook.

I agree with you. Millions of people have accounts on Facebook, thus, there could be millions of possible groups too. No matter how many and varied the groups are on Facebook, there would always be one that will help you promote your blog and the members may help you develop your skills more.

That's a good tip. Facebook really is the master when it comes to promoting stuff online. It's a very active social media page with lots of visitors and constant activity. You'll get good traffic if you're able to promote your business in an authentic way.

Yes, that's a nice advice, because most of the people all over the world are using Facebook.

Interesting. Thinking about it, most of the views I have ever had have come from Facebook shares. Maybe I will experiment a little with sharing more before I finally delete the blogs then.

I agree. Facebook is a great platform to share your blogs and also a wider range of reach to your readers. With a lot of people using Facebook, there would be a bigger chance of getting a big traffic for your blog.

I used to have blogger blogs too, but I don’t know they’re really a leader in the blogging world anymore. I’d be more inclined to delete them and find a different blogging platform if I were you but that’s just my two cents.

Yes they seem to have lost the search result ranking. And there are many spam blogs. So that is one reason many people are moving to the tumblr. So it'd be not so good with the blogger lately. i think tumblr and wordpress seems to be getting a lot of traffic lately on that note.

Interesting. I do have accounts with both, but have never done much with them. I will explore a bit to see what can be done.

I don't think you need to delete the blogs that you have created in the past just because you were not able to get a large number of viewers to view them. I think if you have created a blog which is relevant and useful to the viewers, then it may become successful in the future. You can share the link to the blog on facebook groups and the other social platforms like Twitter and Instagram and that will definitely help you in getting more traffic for your blogs

Have you ever tried sharing your blogs on your social media accounts? I think it's best to promise them. It would really be hard to just leave them there and always for someone to discover it. It would be nice if you start to talk about it within your circle of friends and who knows, your friends may visit and share it.

Write at the least one exciting post each day. Pull a video from youtube and upload to it it could be funny or useful. Make your personal videos and add a link in your blog below it and continually add a name to action meaning ask your readers or visitors to share your blog or video in order to bring you greater site visitors. Additionally, use your social media platform like Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Stumble upon, Pinterest and ping each blog it is free and if you do it each day, you may see a massive growth on your visitors. Goodluck pal!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Regular content is such a huge thing. I know with certain blogs, they don't always upload on a regular schedule - and it makes me less inclined to visit them.

When I know a blogger will post every day, or every second day, I'm visiting their site regularly to check out their new content.

I write on them on quarterly basis and keep the blogs alive. Because those blogs can be a good asset in terms of the link building. And it can give you some good traffic. And on that note it'd be reasonable to have a blog that convert properly. I think backlinks is the reason I'd be using those blogs. In case of the tumblr. I just use them only in case of the content monetization and getting more people towards it.

Promote your blog in different social media platform, like facebook and Tumblr. It will be a big help.

The predicament you are in is what am in too. I wrote some blogs before I new what blogging is and I do not know what to do with them. I have just let them be. At times I try to edit them but do not get anywhere with them.

What I think is you leave them alone but whatever you do now should be done properly. However, if you can make them better and with good SEO the better.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Perhaps you could copy the content from those old blogs into a new, revamped blog. Consolidating them together might be useful, especially if you're planning to be a regular blogger on a new platform.

I can relate. I tried starting my own blog back then. But I realized just how difficult it can be. It's not really an excuse. But knowing how things truly are helps you decide what to do. If you feel like you don't want to trouble yourself too much with all the work, then feel free to stop. What we do should make us happy. And if it doesn't, you might find better things to do.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think a blog truly does have to be a labor of love. It's a LOT of work...and especially if you're trying to be regular and consistent with content, it's going to take up time. That's often unpaid time that you're just investing into something. Sure, there's a chance that it could end up bringing in income later down the road, but it's not a guarantee. I would definitely advise bloggers to write about something you're passionate about so that it doesn't feel like a chore.

It's not easy to manage more than one blog because it requires more work to keep the blog up and running with high quality contents on daily basis.

Just try as much as possible to add new contents on each of the blogs and promote them on social media sites.

Linking any blog articles in with social media promotion is such a key thing for success these days. I think about my own personal Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts, and often I'll see interesting sponsored posts that I then click on and read. If it wasn't for social media promotions, there are plenty of blogs I would never have heard of.

I've never been a fan of blogger. Always been a wordpress guy when it comes to blogs. Ultimately though, you shouldn't spread yourself too thin. If shutting down a few blogs to focus on only one or two seems like a move that will help you in the long and short term, then do it.

I feel like blogger was the big thing in the early 2000's, so to me these days it just seems outdated when there are so many better options out there. I'm a big fan of Wordpress as well - to me the layout is just better overall, and it's more intuitive and user friendly.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think so too. Thanks for sharing that. Now I see why blogger felt so familiar. It seems that Wordpress dominated blogging the longer it stayed. Many of us prefer to use it because of its simplicity and design options.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That's great advice. I've also found it exhausting trying a bunch of stuff. It's similar to multitasking where results are far from promising. It's better to focus on accomplishing one thing at a time. It gives you much needed room for thinking and planning ahead.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Thank you all for the great advice. I am now thinking of keeping the blogs for a while and promoting more on Facebook and other social media. Once I can do it I will move what seems to get read, if it does to a paid url again. I had absolutely no idea paying for a blog to be hosted would limit page views. That has put me off paid hosting for a bit.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Don't delete the blogs. You lose nothing if you just let them be. Nonetheless you need to download all the content on the sites which you think you might use at any time in future. These posts could be re-purposed - use those posts to create podcasts, use the material to write scripts for videos you could post on youtube or Facebook, etc.

The articles could also be re-written and posted on FB and other social media sites.

However if you intend to create another blog, you'd have to delete the blogger blogs so search engines won't penalize should you post the articles on the old sites in the new blog.

I have done a few Facebook live based on the religious content, so I cold persue that. I am thinking maybe I could move the content to a Facebook Page at some point and maybe make some eBooks. Thank you.

Well one issue that I can already tell is the fact that you may have bitten off more than you can chew. Starting several blogs in that way is going to make it hard to put out some really quality content on a consistent basis. You should try and zero in on something you really enjoy writing about and has the potential to make you money, and focus all of your effort on that.

What you could do with these old blogs is save the content and maybe edit it in a way that it can be integrated in a new project. Lots of writers and content creators often recycle old material for new projects.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I have had the blogs for years now. To be honest, writing things is not my issue, I just never did much with them online and most of them had uses offline in that I used the material in other ways. In many ways I treated them as a store. I am not new to the blogging scene, but most places I have used were the "blog and earn" venues, most of which have now shut down.

I think that it is always important to check every asset that we have and in this case the blogs are your assets which you should never accept to lose. they might catch on with time maybe if you try the option of optimising them and even if they don't the information might assist soemone.

If you're serious about blogging, maybe you should study first the basic and essential details before you proceed. Remember, the first step is always the hardest. Just be patient and after a while it will all be easy for you. Another way to help you is to use social media sites like Facebook to promote and direct the traffic to your blogsite. One step at a time.

I also have a blog in Blogger although I am just a co-blogger. Our blogs were earning good when we were active in our blogging. But now Adsense had cut down on the revenue sharing that the rate is just 50% of the original rate. I guess you need to improve the quality of your blogs and you also need to be creative in the promotion. Social media is a fertile place for marketing your business interest, try it.

I have 5 Blogger blogs. 4 public and 1 private. I'm not giving them up. However, I am removing some of my content and republishing elsewhere where the content gets more exposure. I don't want to give up on them just yet. As you say, it's a free platform. Also, I have been approved for Google AdSense so I am trying to monetize the blogs.

ADDING ON COMMENTS:
I completely forgot about the Blogspot widgets. There is one widget called a Link List Gadget. What you do is share links to other sites you like or that are similar to your site. It's sort of like a Blog Roll. If you have fellow bloggers maybe you could help each other by sharing each other's links. Once a visitor leaves their blog they may just mozy on over to yours, since the blog publisher recommends your site. It's just a thought. If you've put work into your blogs you want to think long and hard before trashing them. I mean the blogs can't be that bad. Google hasn't deleted them. They're still online. Right?

This is an interesting idea and one I had not realised I could use. I went over to the blogs and could see a lot of room for improvement, so I might use them as a practice run before moving them to a better platform. If the readership starts to increase then it will be worth the effort. Thank you for sharing the idea with me.

I would prefer for you to continue advertising your blog. It may be hard at first buy everyone will experience hardtimes on the first part of their succes. Try to share your blogs more on Facebook and some youtubers that could help you advertise more of your blogs. You mentioned that use didn't use too much of backlinks, try to add more, it may help but don't use too much of it. Don't get discourage instead take is as a challenge on how well will do to improve your traffic for your blog.

There are so many bloggers nowadays because it's easy to set up and can be used for profits.
If you want to stand out then you should make articles that have great contents and make sure that it's timely and relevant. Always make sure when you choose titles for your articles, make it more specific so that when someone search it they'll find it easier and you'll have more visitors.
