Start selling online to make money and learn along the way

Many times people have started a website and made a few sales here and there then learned everything they needed to know along the way.  Many people have made multi-million dollar companies this way, but they always did their research prior to just jumping in, which is why they're in the position they are today.  So many people out there are worried that they need to know every little thing about their niche, what the absolute best products are before the list anything, and they always think they need to design their own website or get one custom designed.  Well, I'm here to tell you that there are going to be a lot of hurdles along the way, so you might as well just get started now on your next venture lol Start selling online to make money and learn along the way

Selling online isn't a difficult thing to do for people of every experience level.  You could be like me, a guy who has been working online since 2003, and get a website up and running in a day and makes a sale a few minutes after everything is live.  Or you could be a person just starting off and take a week to set everything up, which isn't a big deal, and you'll make money next week.  The biggest misconception is that making money online takes a long time when in reality, you can be profitable tomorrow.  The longer you wait to make a sale, the longer it will take to be successful, so just start today and tweak your entire system along the way Start selling online to make money and learn along the way

No one knows everything when they first start off
Like I mentioned above, I can get a website up and running in a day and profitable a few minutes after that, but I wasn't always that good.  When I started off in this industry, it took me a while to get a website going because I didn't know what to do, but that shouldn't be too difficult for you since you're already reading this and have an idea of what you likely need to get started Start selling online to make money and learn along the way

A week is a good timeframe to get a website up and running if you're just starting out, this gives you time to choose the right domain and get the perfect logo made.  You can also figure out what you want to sell, but be sure to pick a variety of products or services if you aren't quite sure what will sell the best.

Fill up your website with products, set up an AdWords campaign, do your SEO, and then worry about what you're making at the end of the week.

Sell now, tweak later
The entire process of making money online through website sales is a long one.  I may be able to get a website profitable within a day, but that doesn't mean it's bringing in thousands the second day it's launched.  I can likely make $5 or $10 form a new website once I launched it, but it takes time to build it up in order to get recurring customers and optimize all of my pages.

You'll also need to add massive amounts of content to your website, and if you were to wait until you were done with the content before you start to make sales, you would never make any money.  You need to add content regularly to your blog and pages, if you're not doing this then you're falling behind your competition, and no one wants to see that happen.

You don't need to be a programmer or web designer
So many of my clients who are just starting out will ask me if they need something custom coded to please the search engine gods, and they're surprised when I tell them to get a WordPress theme and customize it in a day.  They always thought that they needed something custom in order to rank on top of the search engines, but that's simply because crumby web designers tell them this in order to jack up their prices.

Start with a WordPress theme from ThemeForest and you can go the custom designed route later on if you really want.  Remember, a great looking WordPress theme can be purchased for $50 to $80 and a fully custom designed website can run you $5,000 to $25,000+ so which sounds better when starting off?

In conclusion
Don't expect to be rich tomorrow, because it won't happen, so you should actually set your goals low in order to achieve them.  I like to set mine at $5 a day on average, meaning if I make $100 today I'll be on track for $5 a day even if I don't make anything the next 19 days in a row.  You can't rush things in the beginning, you just need to build gradually in order to figure out what's working and what isn't, so just take your time and everything will work out in the end Start selling online to make money and learn along the way

I like that you said that it's okay not to know everything when you start off. I think so often, I'm deterred by the fact that I don't know everything, and it prevents me from getting started a lot of the time. Sometimes you've just got to go with the information you have at hand, and dive in at the deep end - you learn as you go!

I have to agree with you. In my case, my struggle is that I'm too shy. I'm too shy to sell or to market my products. I know that the only way for someone to be rich is to start a business (aside from winning the lottery). I hope to have the courage to start my own business.

I started as an online writer contributing on writing sites like gather and helium (both defunct now). As I began to make money, I started taking interest in other avenues as well. I started my blogs and websites in other to benefit from content marketing, affiliate marketing and selling items. IN terms of monetary gains I have not benefited much, however, I am always learning and I am earning more than the previous months.

The truth is that when it comes to making money online, it's never a get rich quick scheme. It follows a due process but with time, efforts and dedication, you are definitely going to reap the benefits of all your work. The problem is that most people give up when they are not seeing the rewards immediately. Earning money online requires patience, it's the only way to guarantee getting financial success from the online business.

There was a time when I said I worked online, people used to as me "It is ok that you work online, but what do you do actually?" They also said "Do you actually earn money?" People did not believe working online was actually a work and you can make money online.
When it comes to making money, the virtual world is as tough as the real world.

I am learning affiliate marketing now but I cannot dare embark on it and learn hands on. I had done that before when I put up my own boutique that I learned the lessons in a hard way because it went bankrupt before the first year anniversary. With an online business there is also needed investment and I had to be careful this time. For me, it is foolish to jump and dive into the water without learning to swim first.

Nice. Thank you for sharing this one. Such a big help. This will inspire a lot of beginners like me. It was like the saying in our country "hindi araw-araw pasko" means it's not christmas everyday Start selling online to make money and learn along the way that not everyday is your blessed and lucky day. But that doesn't mean that you'll stop once you feel a bit failure. You need to work on it everyday whether it be a good day today, and a bad day tomorrow. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. Looking forward to learn new things from you again. Thank you in advance Start selling online to make money and learn along the way

As long as your website has a good layout and interface to make customers enjoy their experience visiting the site, then you don't really need a programmer for that if a much cheaper alternative will do. It's still best to look for the best options before jumping into anything, though, and at least do some research rather than just rushing into things. But yes, you don't need to have every little bit of info or preparation before starting because it might take you a lot of time, at which point your competitor is already miles ahead of you.

From my experience and observations, even those with physical stores are now making provision to market and sell their products online as well. You can't blame them for thinking in this manner because mostly everyone is now going online to buy one item or another. So, it's a highly recommended business plan and strategy to market your business and sell online.

I agree that you can sell now and learn later. However, I don’t agree that you do it just like that. You need a little preparation and learning as well. First is the product that you are selling, you have to understand it very well and you need to believe in the product that you are selling otherwise success will be elusive. Second is the market that you are targeting. Do a little survey if you are in contact with the prospective market. And then you can embark on your selling business and learn more after that.

Just the motivation I needed. Selling online is like walking into a mine-field. You can listen to as many instructors and read as many books and articles as you want, but you never learn how to do until your doing it. No two people's path is the same, you have to find your own path. I learned this the very hard way.But I 100% agree with your sentiments, I couldn't have said it better myself. Just do it, that the best advice anyone can give you.

You're right. This is an inspiring article. It's right that there's really no person that is good already when he is just starting. You need to have experience and try selling online yourself to know how this industry works. You just need to have time and patience along the way. Don't stop learning. Make some research. It will reach the time that you will be better and will be an expert on this field in the future.

One who knows everything is only God. One who learns as he moves forward soon perfects the game and become an expert. We can all learn but differently. There are fast and slow learners.

Many people don't even ever try to sell anything because all they've heard from others is how difficult it is to sell stuff online. There are lots of failed affiliate marketers on the net who discourage lots of people who want to be online marketers.

Had I read an article like this a few years back, I guess by now I would online marketing would be my full time job. I'm not going to wait any longer to start selling whatever I can on the net.

p.s thanks for this inspiring article @tommy.

@jeane I agree with you. Apart from the failed affiliate marketers, there is another group of those who have succeeded, but they will always tell you how difficult it is. I decided that I will try, and if I will fail, then I will have learned from the mistakes. I realized that listening to people might make you discouraged.

I've met another group, affiliate marketers who claim they'll teach others how to make a six figure income off affiliate marketing. All they do however is sell you books about affiliate marketing. By the time you realize you've been diddled, they'll have found some other sucker to milk dry.

This innocent guy who was deceived learns one thing at least - he can make a little money selling ebooks that teach people how to make money online. That's why there are so many affiliate marketers in the "make money online" niche.

When I was starting to write, I came across a blog of an affiliate marketer who was charging $20 to learn the ropes.

The course was to take one week. I paid for the course, but he only sent me some pdf files and went missing. Since then, I find it difficult to a buy any course. Instead, I will first try to learn by myself.

I never trust anyone who claims they have "secret" information that will make you better than the average affiliate marketer. If this knowledge which they are parting with for a few bucks was so effective, I'm sure they wouldn't want to share it and instead use it to make themselves millionaires. Since most of what is being sold probably is already on the internet you are better off visiting as many sites as you can to learn enough that will point you in the right direction which in the beginning is exactly what you need.
