SEO Predictions and what actually happened this year till now in your opinion

2016 is more than half way through. There were various predictions as to how this year could bring any changes in the world of SEO. This particular article was very inspiring to me as it showed what 44 very knowledgeable people predicted with regards to possible SEO trends for 2016. If you have time to skim through it, (as I am aware it is a bit lengthy), would you care to comment, who of these experts was in your opinion the most correct in his/her prediction, or who you feel was most helpful to you in the explanation provided?

The main points seem to be:

  • user experience
  • mobile friendliness
  • being consistent
  • and truly useful content

I can add the massive growth in Voice Search this year, directly related to a growing mobile use. I think Rand Fiskin from Moz has the most accurate predictions, check out his White Board Friday videos!

I agree.

The audio recognition for optimization purposes is another thing to go along with voice search. I would assume that the voice search would be fully tweaked in order to work perfectly before Google launches anything to do with audio optimization.

I've actually talked to a few people about audio recognition in the past and when we were done brain storming we came to the conclusion that it could take a few more years to have something that works just right. Just imaging the hay day we will have when Google launches this as another aspect of their search algorithm lol.

Yes I read a number of discussions here in the community which focused on Voice Search. That will be on the increase I'm sure, but like you say Razzy I think it will be slow in the beginning.

I personally think that the end goal would be for people to rank the websites they like. It's still a rough idea, but if you think about it, we're already doing this. All the likes, shares, comments, etc. on websites or for them is what helps rank them in the long run. I'm sure Google will push the user "voting" system a little more in the near future so that it's not as automated using an artificial intelligence system like an algorightm to sort out who is good and who is bad.

Just a thought SEO Predictions and what actually happened this year till now in your opinion

Razzy but wouldn't this just make it easier for black hatters to beat the system again? Bots to vote of paying people to vote on websites?

I'm not sure this would work very well?

Well I'm not talking like a direct vote up or vote down button on a website or listing.

Think of it in terms of SEO. When you place a backlink for your website, or someone else does, it's like a vote thrown in the hat of Google to show them you're a contender for the rankings.

The search algorithm will get so advanced that when a "Vote" it tallied it will go into consideration. And now with the new real time rankings, it's going to get harder and harder to rank because some people are use to doing a one week campaign each month and it was good enough to rank for a month. Now people have to be doing something each day, or week, in order to stay on top. If you're not creating backlinks, content, posting to social platforms, etc. you won't be ranked for long.

My head is all over the place when it comes to thinking about new ranking factors, and I haven't written much down, so this is a pre-Alpha rough draft of what I think will be happening lol. We're really limited by our technology so it's hard to get an accurate read on what Google will be doing in the near future SEO Predictions and what actually happened this year till now in your opinion This is one of the reasons I think we should all put our heads together and build a time machine. We could either go back in time and start Google, Yahoo!, Bing, Microsoft, Adobe, Apple, etc. and rule the world muahahahaha! Or we could go into the future and see which stocks are going to flourish, then come back and invest in their start ups SEO Predictions and what actually happened this year till now in your opinion

Amazon, will take on Google with a new browser. (Ok, not a prediction) I heard from an inside source that Amazon may be looking into or are building a browser to rival Google. My prediction is that the user adoption rate for crypto currencies will remain stable and rise by 1% - 2% by the end of the year 2016.

Ooh that will be interesting if Amazon takes on Google, I will be very interested to watch that battle playing out SEO Predictions and what actually happened this year till now in your opinion

Well Amazon does own Alexa.com which tracks loads of websites information. I wouldn't be surprised if they launch something like Godaddy or Namecheap also. They can see trends as they're getting started and I'm sure they can semi-accurately assess what trends will be big in the near future.

If they made a browser that rivaled Google I would assume they would be asking all of their users to download it. Amazon could definitely rival Bing and Yahoo! but I don't think they'd be able to rival Google right away. Maybe after about 10 years they could be a close second, but not in the early stages SEO Predictions and what actually happened this year till now in your opinion

I agree with you. However it would be great to see how it plays out.

Actually I like what Amazon is doing recently, won't surprise me if the launch their own browser. But overall Amazon depends on Google a lot and I think we will see a direct confrontation between these two.

It’s now 2018 and I don’t know if your prediction came true. What’s evident is the growing number of mobile users in the internet. There are no official figures but from what I gathered, there are more users using mobile browsers now than computer browsers for desktop and laptop. That’s why the so called “Responsive website” should be imperative and all should be with that design otherwise they will be left behind in the numbers game. Unfortunately, I am still encountering websites that are not mobile-friendly and it’s really a shame to the webmaster.
