    Re-writing articles

    Do you ever rewrite articles you have published in the past, updating with more current information or completely reworking the parts to make them more relevant? Do you consider this to be spinning or creating original content?

    The articles I write for advertising my affiliate products are re-written, as I want the main content to be similar for SEO purposes. As for my own main articles, I don't re-write. If I feel the need to update them with relevant information I will add a couple of paragraphs or little additions to my posts.

    It doesn't hurt to add an update section on your older articles to include any more recent developments for the topic. You would want to ensure to label the updates as such so your readers would know that more recent information had been included. So for instance, if your blog post was created in 2012, you would include an update (either at top or bottom of blog post) with the most current update. This would let anyone visiting the page know they had access to very recent information despite the fact the blog post was published so long ago.

    I agree. On my blog it tells people when it was last edited. Should I be including more than that for information?

    It could be useful to include a note above the material you are adding to the older post which explains why you are updating that post. For instance, maybe more recent developments have led you to change your opinion on something discussed in the article and rather than editing out the original post (which might not be the best idea for SEO), you could simply add the newer information at the bottom. Also, when you edit, it shows when you last edited but doesn't explain why so your readers don't know if you changed information or simply corrected a typo. And, it might help to explain what the edit was about. As the blogger, it's up to you as to whether or not you explain why your posts were edited. But, it can be a useful thing to do.

    This is just assuming you are rewriting the post on one page, not just writing a nearly identical article for another page. In this latter situation, you would want an entirely new or radically different article for the new page so as not to encounter duplicate content issues.

    You could update the page or simply link to a newer post from the older page. On the new post, you would have all the recent updates that you wanted to talk about. In this way, you could get a new page for your blog and not just update one that was up before.

    We always create fresh unique content,but the past article information can be included.It is only the idea not words.

    A complete rewrite for a blog post might be needed, especially if you rushed through the writing phase the first time and want to add more relevant information the second time around. There's no reason not to do this and it can only help your on page SEO.

    I always wish to update the content very recently and also i hope that it will not affect in my older content, being update is very much important in publishing the content online, also it will help in SEO too.

    I do not see anything wrong rewriting articles as long as one can be able to make lots of changes to the words used in the original writing. Also, making more research to discover new ideas about what is being written is another great way to go about it.

    It is always necessary to rewrite articles on ones blog because it points to the fact that such articles content are still relevant and new unlike when it shows it was written some years back.

    I began writing as a writer for newspapers. Since these newspapers also had online version, my published articles were also available online. However, apart from the upfront payment, I do not receive anything from the views generated by my articles. When I have dearth of ideas and I need an article badly, I go through my newspaper articles, rewrite it, add new paragraphs, delete unwanted text and republish. I don't this can be considered spinning because these are my articles and I am reusing my articles. Actually, I began my blogging journey by republishing my newspaper articles. I wanted to have all of my newspaper articles on one platform.

    I don’t remember having the intention of rewriting published articles because I hold them sacred. They are my trophies, so to speak, and rewriting them will constitute a breach of my dignity. However, if someone would ask me for an article that is very similar to the subject of my published article then I will just get the gist of that article and write a fresh one that will not be similar to the published article. At least I will maintain my reputation of not doing any plagiarism even of my own articles.
