If you're a newbie webmaster who wants to get better Google rankings and more traffic to your site, it can seem a bit of a daunting task knowing what to do and how to do it properly. So here are 10+ link building methods more for the newbie SEO or webmaster who wants to know some effective methods of increasing backlinks and improving their websites SERP ranking with safely.
Social Media Marketing
Any big website has a home on one of the top social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter or YouTube. They let you not only share your content which can be picked up and indexed by the search engines but obviously connect with the people that are interested in your products, services or brand and reach a lot of people much quicker. You should be doing social media marketing and optimization everyday. I think I read on Forbes somewhere that you should never go a day without doing at least one thing a day on social media to show that your company and business is very much active and in business. Nobody likes to see a Facebook page that hasn't been updated in 2 months or more! It doesn't look good for business and will probably result in less fans/likes/subscribers etc and less traffic and money for you. Keep your social media pages updated constantly and look to register on all of the big ones and work out how to use them in some way. Some of the best social media sites to use today are;
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube, Google+, WeHeartIt, Tumblr, VK, Vine & Snapchat.
This is something any site should be doing because any big site that is popular amongst people today ends up shared on social bookmarking sites. From the really big ones, to smaller lesser well known about social bookmarking sites. I can count about 10 off the top of my head but I do have a list of about 25 odd that I use quite regularly for myself, my own sites and that of my clients to. I have accounts on some of them that go back many years as well that I've built up for myself over time and I always use them every now and then after I publish a new post or video or something because they are quite often indexed in Google quite quickly and have a long stick rate. You can get some great manual social bookmarking services on SEOClerks which is something I regularly use for my own money sites, web 2's, videos and all sorts as well as for my clients.
Some of the biggest social bookmarking sites to use are Reddit, Delicious & Digg, StumbleUpon, Scoop, Plurk, Newsvine & Slashdot that I use reguarly.
This is now the leading number 1 marketing method used by all people today to generate traffic and build product and brand awareness. More people are watching videos now and seeking out videos as a way to get information on something compared to something like a text only review. Videos are much better to watch, more visually pleasing and much easier to relate to than a bunch of text on a page. You should look to upload videos related to your business and maintain a YouTube channel which you can collect subscribers for and when you upload new videos you'll get more of a response on them. Videos need SEO'ng though and for a very competitive niche you might need to be uploading quite a lot of them for quite a long time before it can really become effective. You can get a high quality professional HD video created for you and other video editing and production services for a great price to help you dominate the video world with.
Some of the top video submission sites include YouTube, Vimeo, Blip, DailyMotion, MetaCafe, Ustream & Google+.
Another one of the popular link building methods adopted by webmasters and SEO's today. It's a way of getting links from sites and blogs in the same niche that yours is in which are one of the best kind to get. Plus those links may be on sites that are high authority sites than yours as well so if you can get them they can be very valuable for the backlinks and any traffic they send you that those sites get as well. However it can be quite a lot of work finding and getting good guest posting opportunities yourself. However, you can find many great guest posting services on here by people that can give you them on some pretty big sites that can help. You can even hire a freelancer to find them for you such as finding guest posting opportunities from sites that are in the same niche as yours and will handle everything from finding and getting the guest post to writing it and submitting it for you.
I'm always on at least one or two forums a day doing something, whether it's checking out new posts or reading old ones, trying to learn something new and find people to network or partner with or help or better, sell one of my services to or get someone as a subscriber. There are lots of good reasons for using forums and they can be very effective for marketing with because if you have an established profile on one that has some respect then your thread and posts can have a very high conversion rate. Forums have one of the best conversion rates of them all for this reason. You can use them to build some good high authority links to your site as well which help go towards your general link profile too and some of them will probably be do follow too.
Web 2.0 Building
This involves building backlinks on Web 2.0 blogs and sites that let you have a blog on them. They can create some powerful backlinks because they are Web 2.0 sites after all and are high authority sites that can rank high in the SERPS on their own. You will have to do SEO on them to help them rank higher but they have a long stick rate and you can put your articles, videos etc on them which can rank high on their own but you will have to do some SEO and link building on them if you want them to rank high for things. That said, you can build them and basically set and forget them but it really helps if you update them regularly with new fresh content and things like videos and unique images.
Some of the best Web 2.0 blogs for this purpose are Blogger, WordPress, Tumblr, LiveJournal, Weebly, Webs, Wix, Jimdo, Edublogs, Evernote, Yola, Soup, Jigsy & Hubpages.
This can be a great way to get backlinks from sites and blogs in the same niche as yours. They will be on pages that the content is related to the keywords you want to rank for. You have to do it properly and leave meaningful comments that stick and the links are usually no follow but it's still a very effective method to get quality related backlinks and some traffic as well from any of those blogs visitors/readers. Also it's a great way to establish yourself in your community and let other bloggers know about your site and find people to network with. Eventually all those different blog comments on all those different sites can really help build up your link profile in the long run. Don't want to do it yourself or don't have the time? It's something you can outsource too. Check out these top rated blog commenting services on SEOClerks. Just go for the manually placed ones that are of really high quality only.
Article Directory Submission
Not really worth doing if you're submitting to loads of low quality article directories. Only really works when done consistently to a select few article directories that actually syndicate your content and have people there that are looking for content for your site. It can be a good way to increase backlinks to your site from the people that are looking for content for their own site that might be related to yours in some way as well. They are okay to use that article provided they keep the links in them to your site or your affiliate links or landing page links etc. The thing is coming up with and writing articles to actually submit to them. You can use your own sites articles repurposing them but it's far better to use unique articles for this purpose. That's not too hard to go about doing though as there are many great article writing services here on SEOClerks.
Some of the top article directories that are Technorati, EzineArticles, Hubpages, Selfgrowth & Buzzle.
Link Directory Submission
Again only really worth doing if you are submitting to link directories that are a) in the same niche as yours and or b) are very high quality link directories only. Mass submitting to link directories is a bad idea and will probably get you a penalty. But submitting manually to the best ones in your niche or market industry can have a positive impact and a lot of webmasters and SEO's swear by them and use link directories to improve their ranking with for new sites. You can choose which keywords to use and they can help you rank for them from that perspective. Some people say that they use link directories only but that they pay for them as well because the paid link directories are often only really the ones worth submitting to because they're such big sites now and have a lot of authority in the search engines.
Classified Ad Submission
This can be good if you get it right because there's lots of ways you can go about doing it. There are several good classified ad sites out there you can use. Craigslist or Backpage just two of them that I've had some success with in the past but some people really rate them highly and are able to use them to advertise all sorts of things and send traffic to their sites through them. They can help build some backlinks to which are indexed but mostly no follow and not really worth much but help go towards your link profile. However, if there is interest in your products or services they can be quite effective and have a fairly high conversion rate. Check out these top rated classified ad site services which can do it for you if you don't have the time yourself.
This can be a good way to get the news out there fast about your new business or website. It can also provide some backlinks from those high authority sites as well which can last forever and provide traffic from them for a while or for any that rank in the search engines for things related to your content. It can be done for free but most of the best free press release sites have been heavily spammed today and have lost a lot of ranking in the search engines due to all the updates and setbacks. That said it can still be effective if done in the right way and there are a couple of good free press release sites you can use that syndicate your press release to Google news sites etc but you're much better off doing it professionally and employing a professional like PRWeb to do it for you. It's not that expensive and can be worth doing a couple times for new sites that need to get the word out there about themselves and build brand awareness. You can purchase some excellent press release writing and submission services here.
Some of the top press release sites free and paid are PRLog.org, PR.com, PR-inside, Newswire, OnlinePRNews, PRNewsWire, PRWeb, BusinessWire & MarketWired.
This is something that can help for both new and old sites but it's something that can also backfire on you as well. Google doesn't like sites that do link exchanges quite simply because they want you to rank naturally not by using link exchange methods. That is because they know it works when done correctly and is hard to identify. The only kind of link exchange you don't want to do is a reciprocal one where their link is on the same page that you're linking from and vice a versa. You don't want to have a link exchange if they give you a site-wide footer link either you ideally need it to be on the homepage only or on one of their links pages depending on how many links they have on it such as a partners or resources page. Link exchanges are hard to get and come by for really good quality sites but if you can they can really help in the long run.
So there we have 10+ link building and rank building SEO methods to do for the newbie SEO or webmaster who wants to get better Google rankings for their website and how you can go about getting them yourelf, or from the SEOClerks Marketplace.
