Is it better to quit a job which takes away your mental peace and makes you sick?

Work related Stress is one of the most common problem that we all face all the time. Sometimes people feel so stressed out in there jobs that they completely lose there mental peace. Recently there was a news of South Korean executives resorting to measures like locking themselves up in a mock prison environment in order to cope up with there work related stress.
I think that it is better to quit from a job that gives you so much mental stress. afterall nothing can be more important than your mental and physical health. What are your views in this regard?

Totally, as you can obviously tell, that a job should be for fun and self esteem!
Job is obviously needed to sustain yourself and your family, if you can make enough to sustain yourself on a fun job then it's great. It's better to earn less, but be happy. You live only once.

But the question is.. Is it worth resigning that job? Because not everyone have an alternative. Leaving that job might create other problems for you.

I understand your concern, but with, all due respect to your comment, what makes it worth it is you saving your mental health and your physical health. Trust me, I've been through hell and it's so good to be able to get away from there. Anyway, the world has a lot to offer, quiting one job isn't the end of the world for someone. As long as you have the willingness to look for a job, you will find one and even a lot!

I agree with you. You could not go to the workplace destined for you if you just stay in that place.

You just nailed my thought People that have never worked in an abusive working environment will never understand.i rather be jobless than go through any mental or emotional for any amount of money.it isn't worthwhile for me.

Agree. I've been there too, and believe me, nothing compares to be there being psychologically mistreated. In fact, all that stress just got me into Irritable bowel syndrome, and it was terrible to be dealing with physical and mental discomfort. As you say, one job is not the end of the world, there's so much more you can do out there.

Yeah you're right too but really someone should take it seriously like they need to plan on something before they quit their job because it's their main source of income without that it would be a whole lot of problems for me the best way to do it is to make a plan and apply for jobs online that they enjoy and love doing and once they get accepted then it's time probably time to quit their job.

Well , you are right one needs to think over from all angels before deciding to quit a job especially when he has the responsibility of his family. I think a person will always quit a job when he has a better alternative. However, there might be times when there is no other alternative but to quit the job due to the immense workload and job pressures.

I agree with you. It's always best to consider the health before anything else. If one is unhealthy for sure his work performance is compromise. We need to find comfort in everything we do. It should be a happy and harmonious environment.

It is true that when you quit there are some things that will surely affecting like your financial freedom. But quitting is just a short time only. You just have to take a short break and after that back on searching new job again.

That is right. Just search for a new job again.

I will still resign from such a job, depression is one problem that no amount of money can solve,so it better I quit and have my sanity intact than trying to displease myself.i had a frustrating job like this years ago I quit even with the good pay and without an alternative.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Well, in my case, yes. I preferred to leave my job because I realized that even though I had to think of the lessons that I had to teach to my students, it turned out that I was thinking of how to avoid our toxic boss everyday. It was not good for my growth to have a very negative boss and an unhappy environment. It also turned out that my colleagues also thought and felt the same.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree with you. I will also quit to avoid a toxic boss.

It depends on you if you can pass all those stressful moments in job but sometimes people think of their family the reason behind of not leaving the job even if its really toxic and stressful place. I think you have to slowly find a suitable job online and research about it sometimes so that when time comes leaving your job, you have already alternative job but I don't think its easy as you have to take risk of your time searching for good job online.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That is right. If you find another work, go and leave that work that makes you sick.

I think its better to quit the job that makes you mentally sick. What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and yet lose his mind.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Some people these days seem to think financial riches are the most important thing in the world but like you said, what good is money if you’re losing your mind. I’d always encourage someone to quit their job if they were having a tough time with their bosses or the toxic environment their work created.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

esteban123
I agree that that we should quit a job that makes us mentally sick because even if we are earning a decent amount of money from it. It will have no use for the stress that we are experiencing since the emotional stress that we feel is priceless and will lead us to serious illness later on if we will not give an importance from it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

menchuuy58
That is correct. Health is wealth.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ballyhara
True. Health is invaluable, I mean, there's rich and millionaire people that can buy the planet, and they're still dying from a disease they can't stop, no matter how much money they spend. So, is not worthy and clever to risk your most valuable possession for just a job. Walk away from that place, and get hired somewhere else.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

edencaga
Yes you have some point here. If its really worth leaving then you have to leave the job as its not healthy anymore especially mentally . Too much stress can lead into mental sickness and what's worst is that if you are so much stress and frustrated about people around your work you can be depress so better leave if you can't do it anymore.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think it's worth it to quit your job. Especially, if it's giving you so much stress and anxiety. Health is our priority. Your income won't mean anything if you get sick. It won't even be enough to pay for your hospital bills.

I cannot compromise my health with my job. Your health is the most important thing

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes, you are right. We must not disregard our health as it should be our top priority. Even though the job pays well, it would be useless if the stress is so much bigger than the monetary value. I wouldn't risk my future.

It depends on your work environment and how your management will treat you. Everybody experience stress in some ways but there is also a lot things to relieve your stress. I am working at the entertainment industry and I also experience some stress but I am in a entertainment industry so I should give joy to the customers and it helps me to relieve my stress when I make them happy.

You have not said whether you love and enjoy your job or not. Do you enjoy it or you do it for people and finances you get from it?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
I believe that if you are not enjoying your job at all, just quit. It is simple matrix and yet effective. Many are working but they dont love their job anymore. They keep on working because they have to, to support their daily financial needs. I would suggest that you should love yourself first before anything else. No need to stay in a job that you dont love anymore. Quit and take a short break then back on track again.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree with you. Your job should not compromise your life and what you believe in

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yeah, in our society today, compromising is only choice specially when it comes to our job. We need to free ourselves for that matter.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

A job that gives you no peace should be quitted. A job that interferes with your religious beliefs should be quitted. You can not be compromised due to your desperation of a job.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree with you. It's not healthy anymore to your physical and mental health to be thinking about the toxicity of the job rather than focusing on the task you're into. It's better to quit the job and feel renewed, don't mind how well the job pays.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree that if you feel your job is too stressful to the point that it is compromising your mental health, you should quit it. In my last job there was a lot of bullying by the big bosses. I stayed not knowing the toll it was taking on my mental health. When I left I had a complete emotional breakdown and it took me one whole year to recover. No one is worth that much time. Work somewhere where you are respected and appreciated, if not walk away. The damage a hostile work environment does to your mental health is not worth it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ballyhara
So sorry about your breakdown, I hope that you're feeling better now. Somehow, many people has been there too, working for very bullying bosses, terrible coworkers, stressing job environment, and eventually it takes its toll on us. I suggest you to practice some yoga, that really helps you out to visualize and focus into yourself, it worked really amazing with me.

I think there are times when work-related stress stems from having a negative attitude or working with people who for some reason you don't like. Odds are wherever you go after this, you'll probably encounter similar problems so it is better to stay where you are and deal with the problem once you identify the underlying cause of your stress.

There are times when you can't change anything. If you have savings, you could use this money to start a small business but before you quit you need to ascertain that this business will make you enough money to live on. Best not to be too rash and end up in a worse situation.

I have quit job which was giving me mental trouble. I don't like to work in a place where I am more of mentally harassed or forced to work more. And that goes to show you that mental efforts matter. But if you are being handled the wrong way in the mental job. In such case it's better to leave such jobs. And instead you should be working in a positive work place. That should show you how you can get the most out of the experience.

I will never advised anyone to work in an environment that isn't conducive despite the pay.i used to feel like tearing my payslip anything I remember what I go through to have it. Some work place is just not it. One is confronted daily with annoying and domineering Bosses.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ballyhara
Neither will I. I've been there, under annoying and dominant bosses, within a very toxic environment, and that only leads you to be sick. There's people that get so overwhelmed about it, that they get depressed or extremely anxious, and even can attempt against their lives.

I think all jobs can be stressful at times and it doesn't matter if you love your job or hate it. Stress is a factor that will always be present when you're working. I do agree that mental health should be a priority but I think quitting would only give you another type of stress and that's the stress of finding another job. I think people need time to relax and breathe specially when work is getting too much. Taking the time to slow down and do something fun would help a lot. I know I've had the most stressful day yesterday as I needed to finish 4 articles and revise 1. What I did was I stopped when I know I couldn't do anything anymore and I went to sleep.

Yes I slept. So what? My body needed time to recover and rest.

When I woke up I felt so refreshed, I felt better, and I got to finish the job.

I think that's it, just take the time to breathe, relax, free your mind. Go on a vacation! Then go back to the stressful position? No, you find a solution to that stressful position and fix it.

Last year, I worked in a very toxic environment. I don't hate the job but the boss, coworkers, and clients stressed me out. I get sick almost every week, if not cough then fever. It is really true that stress lowers the immune system and destroys your appetite. I have become thin that my mother was very surprised when I went home this year. A few months ago, I stopped working in that office and look at me now? I gained a lot of weight and I haven't had any fever, cold or a cough after I left the company. Resigning from that job helped me a lot and has taught me a lot of lessons. Health is important above anything. A job you can still find but not your health. The salary would never be able to compensate for a healthy body.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Exactly. I had a very bad experience too just like you. But in my case, I was working abroad, far from family, in a very different country, another language, and under so much pressure. So, that way I learned that no money, no beautiful country, no fancy places, can compensate your mental peace. Not everything in this world can be handle with money.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Alymae
Yes. I totally agree with you. Peace of mind cannot be bought and I realized that God is the only one that can give it to you. I feel peace when I pray to God, I feel like my burdens are gone. I know that He is lifting it for me. Living abroad in a foreign is never easy. I salute you!

Find a job first before resigning to your present job. It's hard to find money so you have to planned well so as to avoid financial problem. If you really think that your job is emotionally draining and it is not healthy anymore, then you don't need to stay to that toxic environment. Money can not make you live or stay healthy. For sure there are other jobs that may suits your taste and offer healthy environment then go for it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Alymae
Yes. This is a good plan. At least if you leave your present job, then, you have a backup plan. Wise people do this. Finding a job is easier for those people that work hard.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ballyhara
Agree. That's certainly the best way to solve that issue. Unfortunately, sometimes gets really hard to find another job before quitting the one you have, but in any case, it's not worthy to keep fighting against all the toxicity around you. If the job is mentally torturing you, then it's time to leave.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yeah that is the best thing that you should. It is hard to quit a job without applying first and hired to new one. Jobless is hard. Apply first and get hired before you leave your current job.

It's hard to stay focused when you're stressed. You lose productivity because of it. I worked before at a BPO wherein I take calls to support printers, the stressful part is not the job itself, but with my coworkers. There is too much competition that sometimes some of them take things personally. I resigned after six months.

When I'm mentally stressed I can barely function, heck you might not be able to talk to me rationally. What I do in these kinds of situations is remove myself from the things that are stressing me out and probably smoke or drink something first. Then carry on.

Yes - to me there’s not a price that you can put on your health. It’s ultimately the most important thing we have! Without our health then we’re not even going to have a capacity to earn money, so getting out of toxic environments is important.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

There is much stress about not having money to cater for the needs which we want to meet in the world. This is the reason we should think of getting to find ways to solve our stress issues instead of having to quit our job.

It’s part of the reason why I like to save up a little nest egg. Being financially secure means that if I do get into a situation with work where I’m being treated poorly, I can resign and not worry about any financial implications.

I experienced this before when I was working in a city. The kind of people that surrounds me is toxic. From the boss to co-workers, they all make me stress. The pressure coming from your boss and your co-workers which are envious and jealous of you when you manage to complete a task perfectly. I hate competitions so I left my job and find a new one which I think is a good choice.

Sometimes, it's difficult to decide whether to quit jobs or not. Considering the difficulty of seeking another employment. It's our bread and butter. Taking such decision affects everything. It will also add another stress. It needs to be weigh properly. However, if the jobs affects you mentally and it feels like killing you. It's better to resign from the job. I find it useless to stay on something you don't like. You are affected and can't focus on your work. The results will be shown in your performance. It maybe hard to start again but am sure there will be another opportunity for you.

Yes, health is wealth. We can't afford to risk it. It will be a misery if that happens. Sometimes, door doesn't open easily as we expect it to be. Our patience and determination is tested during this time. it is also a challenging effort to deal with your newly mutant co-workers with all their magnificent attitude. It will be going to be an adjustment period. In everything we do and desire, it is always good to seek guidance and protection from the Lord that we will survived whatever trials we undergo.

You can't buy "peace of mind" in a drug store. Nobody deserves to be treated unfairly. We have to understand that your wealth and money cannot buy any extra second when death calls. Life is not all about money, it's how you spend your life according to your purpose. It's so easy to talk if you haven't experienced their situations.

It's so easy to talk if you haven't experienced their situations.

I agree with you on the fact that life is not all about money, but as you said, it's hard to talk because each one of us has different circumstances and situations. Some people can't quit their job even though they're so stressed out already because it's the only job they could find.

I’ve had awful jobs with terrible bosses and looking back I just wish I’d quit earlier. Work can usually be found quite easily where I live and to me there’s no point being loyal to a company or a boss who treats you awfully.

I've been in a similar situation before, and now when people ask me as to which weighs more: an understanding employer that pays little or a toxic employer but pays high, I'll go for the nice one. My reasoning in it is that I'm sure in time I'll get a pay increase plus the fact that he treats me well. You can't buy that with money.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree with you. It's better to have a meager payment with a employer that treat you nice than a monster employer that pays you high. Working with pressure is not always a good environment to thrive. This will always affect our productivity due to emotional condition. It's best to be happy in everything we do.

I have a friend who was once employed by a not so lovely boss. Plus, the pay is not that well. I feel sorry for him as he can't quit at the time because of financial needs. As soon as he found a new one, he raged quit. He's now as happy as ever.

Well, i agree with most of the comments made on the post. Work related stress is definitely a very big problem these days. The ever increasing competition and the mad race of earning a lot of money has resulted in complete disharmony in the working relations and environment. I think that quitting a job is the last alternative available for a distressed employee. People try there best to adjust with the work environment but sometimes they need to quit in order to escape from the tremendous stress and tensions.

Of course, it's better to quit a job that takes away your peace of mind and robs you of your health. The reason you work is for security and for peace of mind. However, leaving a job isn't always that easy; for the simple reason finding another job is not always that easy. Sometimes a person has to make really tough choices like … stay at a job you hate and still pay the rent OR … quit that frigging job and hope you find another better way to support yourself. Every individual has to weigh the options. There is no one-size-fits-all solution. But what none of us wants is a miserable co-worker that comes into work one day and shoots everybody! That has happened too many times in America.

I do agree that one shouldn't work under such circumstances but is it really worth it? Sometimes before quitting that job there is a possibility of positive rewards in the future. All I meant to say is think before taking emotional/ sudden actions. Analyze the whole situation before jumping to an irrational decision. Maybe if you try you can rise above it. But off course it depends on the intensity of abuse n varies from person to person. Some are very sensitive while some just don't care. If it's real hard for you than please do leave at once. Just try to have a realistic approach before locking your decision. As a wise man once said you can't achieve great heights if you aren't ready to take on the hurdles in life.

That happened to my husband when he was general manager of a software house. The president was always pushing him so hard that he had been lacking sleep caused by the extreme stress and pressure. When he had intestinal flu and got hospitalized, I urged him to quit his job because he didn’t look good and even when he recovers from the ailment I’m sure it will just recur because the problem is more of psychological than physical. He resigned his job when he got out of the hospital.

Well if you think that it isnt healthy for your mental and physical health then quit. But if you think you can endure it and take everything as a challenge then stay. I understand that not everyone has a strong mind and body so you must know if you will be abke to survive the stress upon the whole application process. You have to prepare yourself mentally before applying for a job. There is not a single job in the world that isnt stressful. It is just a matter of willingness to grow and finding the good in everything that you do.

I can tell you that I smoke weed from https://weeddelivery.io/product-ca...nnabis/aaa-plus/ pretty often, and it actually helps me cope with stress and anxiety, and since my salary is bigger than the average Canadian one, for me, it's all worth it.
