How to withdraw your freelance earnings from Paypal without a bank account

Although there's this one website who does the same thing with Paypal and they're slowly rising, they still can't outdo the number of people who use paypal. I'm actually a Paypal user and for me it's the best website/platform to make online financial transactions. Here in my country, I can't withdraw my Paypal money because I don't have a bank account. Fortunately I was able to discover GCash, it's an app where you can get a prepaid debit card without a bank account linked and you can just link your Paypal there and transfer your funds without fees. After that I can withdraw my money on the ATM. Paypal is just so good no one can beat it (at least for me).

I started using PayPal 8 years ago and back then all transactions must be through a linked bank account which takes 2 weeks at least then gradually it improved, PayPal began accepting debit cards and for those who doesn't know it yet in the Philippines you could get a visa debit card from RCBC and Union Bank for just $2-$4 or
php 100-php200 and there's no maintaining balance. But transfer from PayPal is between 24hours to 72hours which is a very long time for me. Then PayPal introduced a faster cashout option real-time via remittance centers but the problem is these remittance centers charged a very high rate of $4-$5 or php200-php250 per transaction so it's a lot of wasted money, then GCash came early 2017 and with its real-time PayPal money transfers everything now is very convenient.

I couldn't imagine myself being in your situation before. I guess I'll just stop freelancing because basing from your comment, I think it's very hard to withdraw Paypal money before. Not to mention the fees that remittance centers charge, I might get broke without even experiencing the happiness of spending my hard earned money as i only earn small because I am not a very skilled freelancer.

I am happy today. I have just withdrawn my money from PayPal. I have made it after two weeks of trouble. At first my G cash tells me unable to link with my PayPal. Then I tried to make another PayPal.

Glad to hear you're happy sir jeffreyjose48. I also had the same problem with my GCash account before because of unknown errors and problems. Fortunately, I was able to solve it right away. But really? Two weeks? wow! I admire your patience for I wasn't even able to wait for a day for my problem with GCash to be fixed.

I didn’t know that Paypal is accepting debit cards which is actually the ATM card for your bank deposit. Paypal required me to submit a credit card number and fortunately I have a credit card so it didn’t pose a problem to me. My Paypal is 3 years old and I have no issues so far because I can withdraw money without incurring charges provided the withdrawal is 7,000 pesos or more.

I have also encountered such problem before wherein I can't withdraw my online earnings from my PayPal because of having no bank account but with the help of gcash and other apps out there then life become easy in withdrawing your hard earned money. It has no fee and the payment is just fast as well that is why I prefer this one than having bank account because of its being efficient and reliable for me for my day to day life.

Exactly. When I started freelancing, I had a lot of worries and one of them is not having a bank account because I'm still a student and it's hard to apply for a debit account. Fortunately, there's GCash who helped me a lot.

Yes Gcash is very popular for freelancing people who have no bank accounts yet, I was really having a hard time before in withdrawing my online earnings and there is even a point that I already give up since my PayPal cash was no use anymore since I cannot transfer and convert it into cash but thanks for this Gcash because it helps me a lot to solve my problems. It was like a n angel for me that relieves my worries instantly.

Yes, Gcash is very popular here in the Philippines. In my personal experience, I withdraw using Paypal, then transfer to Gcash and then my bank account. If ever you don't have bank accounts, remittance center is available here in the Philippines. I think you can get the money through Cebuana Lhullier and Palawan Express.

I do the same for my freelance profits tho. I transfer all my Paypal money to my GCash account but I withdraw it in a different way. Remittance Centers actually charge you a lot and so I looked for other alternatives and saw GCash Mastercard. It's just 150 Php and you can purchase that in Globe Stores either in SM or other Malls. The fee for withdrawing your money in cash is only 20 Php for any Bancnet ATMs and that's for any amount.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jaybee19
Exactly. However, there are also some who are experiencing some problems with GCash like the one user I saw from Facebook who commented that she can't withdraw her GCash money. That worries me a lot tho even if I'm yet to experience such problem. Hopefully I won't because it will really be an inconvenience to my part because I don't have any bank accounts nor Debit Cards.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

esteban123
Well it is really sad to know such instances of inconvenience about Gcash but I think that the user should report it to the Gcash since for sure it would help him. I believe that it was just an isolated case and it will be resolved as long as it will be reported immediately.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jaybee19
Exactly. There's actually GCash care for such matters. However, they don't respond immediately and sometimes they respond with totally unrelated answers. This is actually based from my experience.

I was in a similar situation when I first started working online and signed up for PayPal.

I had opened a savings account in a new country after moving there, as well as a debit card account required for some temporary work I had found. When I moved on to online work, it turned out that I couldn't use either type of accounts for transferring PayPal money. The savings account was understandable, but I couldn't figure out why my debit card didn't work when it was cleared for online use and all.

I managed to find a loophole by opening a gift card account with my bank, though. The bank offers gift cards that you put cash on--whether it is through the bank, PayPal, or other services--so I simply put my PayPal transfers on that, and from there I can move the money around using my banks online system. It's a bit of a hassle for now, but it's not PayPal's fault really. My bank just needs to modernize.

Paypal has a limited functionality in my home country Nepal. You cannot withdraw your paypal money from your bank or card. There was a time when paypal accepted payoneer card and I used to transfer my funds to payoneer card and withdraw through local ATM. However, these days, payoneer is not accepted on Paypal. I have associated wirex card (the bitcoin card) on my paypal. I can use my card to fund my account but cannot withdraw through the card. My only option for paypal withdrawal is by using third party service.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

fishbate
Sorry to hear that, i hope your country banks will figure how to work things out. I bet a third party service also have some kind of a fee. If that's the case, you can loose money just for paying that service fee. I think that's not fair. Although PayPal also have this service fee's during transfers, a second fee from other service is a great loss.

"I bet a third party service also have some kind of a fee. If that's the case, you can loose money just for paying that service fee. I think that's not fair."

Yeah having to jump through all these different hoops just to transfer your money can actually end up being quite costly, as well. For me to transfer my money from my PayPal account to the card I'm using, it is a $5 fee. Now one might not think $5 is much, but depending on where you live, you can buy a decent amount of stuff with just $5. My area has a low cost of living, so I can eat well for 2-3 days on that money. I obviously make enough for that to not really matter, but it's still a nuisance. Then comes the currency conversion. Depending on the dollar value, you might be getting more or less money depending on how the market feels that day. On top of that, the bank takes a portion of the money for converting currencies. It can really feel unfair some days, especially if work has been scant lately.

I work online and most of the earning sites and online clients pay through paypal. However, there is no paypal withdrawal available in Nepal. There was a time when paypal accepted payoneer card and the bank details (the bank account associated with payoneer). I used to withdraw paypal funds to my payoneer account, however, this option is not available now.
These days, I transfer funds to a trusted friend, and she sends it back to me through western union. I wish there was western union withdrawal on seo clerk.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

DenisP
Well I'm happy to hear that at the least you have a trusted friend that is willing to help you out. I've actually read about multiple instances similar to yours--on this site in particular, actually--and it's a shame that people have to find loopholes and alternate strategies just to simply withdraw their hard earned money. Perhaps as the demand for full service grows throughout the world, PayPal will inevitably have to cater to its growing demographic.

It makes me wonder where the issue actually lies, whether it is with PayPal or your country's banking system.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It is not because of paypal policy that paypal is not available in my home country. In fact, it is because of the central bank policy, paypal is not operating in the country. Our country does not allow sending funds internationally and also wants to control the money coming to the country. Only the large business are allowed to transact internationally, rest of the people have to find loopholes to receive or send money.

I agree every penny counts, and the fact that you loose money just by transfer is very annoying specially through multiple transfers. But it also helps us to know the importance of the money we earn. Although this things only happen on some countries i find it unfair and unjustly.

I'm also using GCash ATM rather than my Banks ATM which I only use to tranafer and withdraw $100 up, because banks do charge $5 for a single transfer and another $0.40 for each ATM withdrawal. While GCash card doesn't have transfer fees, just a withdrawal fee of $0.40 per ATM transaction.

You can also use the services of MoneyGram. It has a partnership with PayPal and is available worldwide, that's if you don't have a bank account or a GCash ATM. Using it you can withdraw PayPal money by going to a MoneyGram branch but it also has a withdrawal charge of about $4 I think. I've used it only one time when GCash service was down and I need money from my PayPal account. It's always good to have a contingency.

I have the GCash app on my phone and tablet. Unfortunately, I can't link it to Paypal. Both of those devices are iOS and I can't click the "Link" button after typing my Paypal email address. Maybe this issue is isolated on iOS and I have to try it on an Android device. It's cool that GCash does not have any charges when withdrawing from Paypal.

I also have heard about GCash that does not charge any amount when withdrawing from paypal, but may I know how are we going to convert it to cash? All I know is GCash can be used to online transaction like paying bills but what if I'd like to convert it to cash, how will I do that or is GCash has a feature like that?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jaybee19
@EfficientNinja, I guess so because iOs tend to be more strict with these types of things especially security. However I do not know if it's really a problem with your device or their app system which I guess 'maybe' is still uncompatible with iOS devices. I'm actually an android user and it works fine with my device.

You can withdraw funds from GCash through its own ATM card or transfer it from GCash to a bank account. You can check YouTube tutorials and other guides you can find on Google. It's also where I learned how to do it but I haven't tried it myself because of the issue I am currently trying to resolve.

I see. Thanks for the tip. I thought it couldn't be converted but then I was thinking to try using GCash.

Try this go to www.paypal.com don't use the PayPal app it has many bugs go straight to the site and open your PayPal account. Then link your verified GCash account, it must be a verified one. If you are using the PayPal app uninstall it and go to the main site, it has more options. It's also best to link a bank debit card first it cost about $4 to open one with no balance required, you can go to RCBC or Union Bank. I'm using both RCBC debit card and Union Bank. Now if you don't have a bank account then just withdraw via MoneyGram they have a partnership with PayPal, I think the fee is $4, but I'm not sure, I only used MoneyGram once, when GCash service was down a year ago.
Hope this helps in resolving your problem.

Can you please link a guide on how to do it? The only guide I saw was to use the GCash app on a mobile phone and link the Paypal account there. I see no option when I log in to my Paypal account to link the GCash account.

Do I have to get a GCash ATM first to follow your instructions? Thanks a lot!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jaybee19
Hi Efficient Ninja. You don't need to go to Paypal's website to link your GCash account. Just simply link your Paypal account to GCash, just make sure your GCash account is already verified so that you can link it right away.

With the linking, you don't need the GCash ATM or the MasterCard Card. You only need that if you want to withdraw your funds in cash because there's no way you can withdraw them unless you have a debit card or a bank account. However, for me, GCash Mastercard is better because the fee for every withdraw using the GCash Mastercard is only 20 pesos.

After linking your Paypal account to GCash, you can just withdraw your funds from Paypal and transfer it to GCash for you to be able to withdraw in cash.

If he doesn't have a card then how can he link the account? One needs an account number or the 16 digit card number on a GCash Visa card.

Hi @kakashi2020. Based from my own experience I didn't have any GCash Card or any debit card before I've linked my Paypal account to GCash. I only had to verify my account and after that I was able to successfully link my Paypal account to GCash app.

You can withdraw PayPal money in real-time via MoneyGram, PayPal and MoneyGram has a partnership for years now, it's faster than banks and a bit cheaper too. If banks are charging $5 I think MoneyGram is charging $4 for every transfer.

Don't use the PayPal app, it has a lot of bugs. Go to www.paypal.com, you can link your GCash account there if you have a GCash ATM card. if you just have a GCash app you can link it via GCash to paypal according to some people. But I linked my PayPal by going to the main PayPal site and linking my GCash Visa debit card to it.

I think you should use the msib PayPal site not the app to link your GCash account. I have the GCash app on my phone as well as a GCash ATM card which you can purchase in any globe outlet. You can't link your PayPal to your GCash app because the app doesn't have an account number, you need to buy a GCash Visa Debit Card first with a PHP 100 credit and use your GCash Visa card account number to link your PayPal account. While the PHP 100 is for PayPal verification, for your account to get verified.

Thank you! I'll just get myself a GCash ATM card then. That process looks easier since I'm having trouble with the GCash mobile app. I'm going to a Globe branch at a mall later. Thanks again!

Its also my problem before, and I thank some people in YouTube because they really a big help for me. One of the video in YouTube talk about on how you can make an account to PayPal without a bank account and he told that you can use PayMaya.
I'm using PayMaya as a visa debit/credit card and it easy to apply. You can go to there website and register and then there you have it.

I think it is really a must to link a certain card to your PayPal account in order to withdraw your earnings. I had been experiencing a problem before in PayPal since I cannot withdraw my earnings before because I have not link any cards to it and realize that one should link a card so that your PayPal funds could be used properly.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yeah, you have to link a card or bank account to withdraw from Paypal, which will make your Paypal verified. I believe only verified accounts can receive money as well.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yeah, only verified ones can withdraw from paypal. I actually used a mobile Visa Card from Paymaya (GCash' Competitor) but there's a fee when you withdraw your funds from paypal and transfer it there. Btw, may I know what are the additional fees that paypal is/will be imposing?

Paypal has a $1 fee every time you withdraw to your bank or any other online wallet like the ones you mentioned, but it remains constant at $1 whether you withdraw $5 or $500, so I usually just wait before withdrawing a larger amount.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yeah that is right, I just realized later after watching some tutorial videos in the web that we need a card so that our PayPal account would be verified and can easily withdraw money. I think it is just easy if we will just follow the steps or procedures.

You can try using Paypal for bills payment or for online shopping. There's a lot of online shopping sites that accepts Paypal. You can try this method by diverting your money on hand to online pay using Paypal. I have tried it once, i purchased a gift for my dad and i used my Paypal account to pay.

I remember one guy who opened one product on gumroad. And bought his own product. And then used bank transfer method from gumroad to bank account. Here paypal balance was used to purchase his own product and money is transferred. If you don't want paypal have your bank account, then best option is buy something on your own and move the funds to bank through other online sites. Or similar arrangement of exchange can be done.

I'm also a Gcash user and I applied for ATM card. Last time I tried to withdraw my earned money through ATM machine but then the message pop-up that I will be charged worth P250 or $5 for a withdrawal fee I got hesitated and decided not to withdraw anymore. I told myself, Gee, that's too much so instead of withdrawing from it I just use the app to pay bills so I won't lose worth $5.

It's easy to get a bank account these days for paypal. Once which will link up with your debit card and send money onto it. Most bank accounts for paypal users are digital accounts. They really serve no other purpose except to act as funding sources for direct payments from paypal, adsense or any other digital financier.

Oh that's a large amount for a withdrawal fee. I usually use money remittance center when I'm trying to withdraw from Gcash and Paypal. You can also try to use Payoneer when receiving money from your freelance job when you have a big amount that you're about to receive. On PayPal they usually get the 2%or 10% of the money that you're going to transact while on Payoneer the transaction fee was fix $3 and the money value there was much bigger than PayPal. But interms of withdrawal, I don't use my ATM because of the charge fee.
