Do buyers have to leave a rating?

I am waiting for feedback from a buyer but he's not leaving any. I sent him a message asking if he could please leave feedback but no answer. Is there another way to get my feedback?

I don't think it is a requirement to leave a rating anywhere. I usually try to do so however, if I have very positive or very negative feelings about a product. I think it helps other buyers when they are making a decision.

Well I think it's really the buyers choice if he wants to leave a feedback or not. Some people just wants the order completed and doesn't really care about giving feedback. While some buyers like leaving feedbacks do it really depends on the buyers personality and preference and you really can't do anything about it.

Thank you for the answer. It would be nice though if feedback was mandatory because if we don't get feedback as sellers, others can't see if we do a good job or not.

Exactly what I'm thinking @kakashi2020. As a buyer myself, I don't always give feedback to my purchases because of so many reasons. One is the sellers attitude, second is the quality of the product I received (if it's a so-so or a bad quality), and third is if I'm very busy and don't have time to rate the seller.

@SimilarShows I don't think it's possible to make feedback mandatory for buyers. It could actually make a conflict with the rule 'Customers are always right' and as a seller there's nothing we can do (P.S. I'm a seller too and also a consumer), because this rule is actually valid and is accepted by everyone in the business industry that's why we can't do anything but to wait for our buyers to rate us. However, there are sellers whom I happen to know who have some good techniques and strategies.

What they do is they always chat the buyer and always respond to their questions as well as to always update them with their order. They are actually doing that to befriend their buyers and eventually if they make a good connection, they then ask the buyer if they could perhaps rate their purchase. And voila, they get instant ratings from their buyers. Hope this could help you tho.

I completely understand both sides. I'm also a buyer and a seller. I just think it's good manners to leave feedback if you liked the service so that others can discover it too, but oh well, not everyone thinks the same i guess. I'll keep your tips in mind for my next sales

I think leaving a rating is a choice specially for buyers. Although there are times that ratings are considered a reference for choosing a seller, i think site owners should do something about that. In my opinion a statistics data provided with the combination of sales , ratings, views and subscribers should be the primary reference of buyers in choosing a seller.

Personally I always try and leave feedback, because I think it's then easier for anyone else who will be dealing with that individual. I know plenty of people that don't leave feedback though - it seems to happen a lot in situations where providing feedback isn't a mandatory thing.

Sometimes I wish that places would just initiate a mandatory feedback component so that people would have to at least record something about their interactions.

As a seller, we would like to receive as many feedbacks as possible. However, buyers or clients are not required to leave ratings or feedback. Most of the time, people who are very happy or those who have problems are leaving feedbacks. Those in between will not care to leave any comments.

There are many reasons why some buyers don't give feedback they may be not in the mood or don't want to waste time. If they don't like the products I'm sure they're going to give feedback just to let it out about their frustrations. If they like the products it's a 50-50 chance. Me as a buyer I don't also give feedback but if I'm dissatisfied with the products I'll be ranting in the feedback section. Haha.

No not really but if they have done a good enough job then I do like to leave a rating it is only fair after all. Also, some give bonuses when the member rates and leaves recommendation just like me that is what I do. So really you're helping each other as a buyer you are getting extra services for leaving feedback. As a seller, it helps to get recommendations as it will give your sales a boost in impressions as well and shows new buyers who come to your service see your level of trust from other members/clients.

@fishbate that's why I was wondering about ratings. On other sites, ex. Fiverr, you get ratings with each buy and sell which provides data on the kind of person you are. This increases trust with buyers and helps get good sellers more sales. Ratings make things win-win for all.

It depends. I think it's fine if they leave a rating. A lot of people just don't have the time or interest to give feedback. That's why we're fortunate whenever we receive ratings from our clients.

I think it's not a requirements, it's just a compliment of the buyers if they were satisfied to the service. Although I think it's really important because it's about your personal ratings to know if the buyer was satisfied to your work, but I think the more you ask for ratings the more they will give you the low ratings.

Demanding for a rating from a buyer is not a good business move by any seller. You can politely ask in a way of suggestion and then allow the buyer to decide on whether or not to give the review.

But I believe that a good service rendered to a buyer wouldn't need for a review to be asked for by the seller before its given. Once the buyer is completely satisfied, a good review is most likely to follow up.

As a seller, for sure I would like to get a rating from my costumers, but on the other hand as a buyer, sometimes it's kind of annoying to leave a rating. I think it depends on the way you treat your customers, or maybe if you ask them for a rating like a suggestion, instead of making it mandatory. You can try to make an easy 2-3 questions chart, so clients can check them easily, and that can counts as a rating chart. Those are the ratings I like to do, because they save time, and are very precise.

I think that it is not really necessary to leave ratings. If I would be a seller, I would love to receive ratings (but still won't force my buyers to do so). These ratings may help me become more motivated in gaining more potential customers and these can also be helpful in improving those areas where I'm lacking some specific actions. Ratings can also help market your business to people. If you have high ratings, people will consider your business as legit because you have a lot of satisfied customers.

Do buyers have to leave a ratings: For me, it is not really necessary because some of the buyers just only after to the product they buy ang lets try to understand their situation as well, like for example that they buy online because they don't have a lot of time to go outside to buy those staff sonlets just put in our mind that they are totally busy just to leave a rate on our service.
