One habit that will immediately improve your profits

When you start running a business you might think it's going to be an easy thing that you're going to take slow and build over time.  Sometimes you think that you're going to make $1,000 a day because you're the best in your niche, but you didn't do any of your keyword research which would show you how saturated your niche actually is.  A lot of times people will start something because they think they've thought of it first, but in reality, they are the 10th or 1,000th person to the idea and that just means it's an uphill battle for profits within that niche.

If you're getting into a business, website, franchise, etc. you need to do all the research possible so that you know what is going to be around every corner.  A dream of mine is to start up a bar and grill in my local area so I can go to work and love what I'm doing at the same time.  Don't get me wrong, I love working online, but if I don't have to log on every single day to work on clients campaigns and I can just go sit at a bar and watch TV instead, I would gladly do that One habit that will immediately improve your profits  I've gone over all the details about the business I want to run, from how much it will cost for how I want the place to look to what needs to be in the kitchen to get the food out quickly and even what type of people I want working there to serve the customers that come in.  If you want to boost your profits, you need to know everything that is going on with your business even if it's not on your own website.

The main habit you need if you want to immediately improve your profits:

You Must Be On Top Of Things!

If I ever get enough money to start up my own bar and grill, I will be more ready than the person who just wings it and wants to do something similar to me.  I will have done all the research and know exactly who to contact for licensing and even how to get employees ready to work.  If I hadn't been on top of things, I would still just have the idea that I want to set up something but I wouldn't exactly know what to do.

This goes for any business, one you have an idea for or one that you're currently running, if you're not on top of things then you won't see your profits improving much.  It doesn't matter if you're doing keyword research for your next traffic stream or if you're trying to help your visitors enjoy their experience on your website more than they previously have.  If you're not on top of things, you won't know what's going on with your website or company and that's never a good thing.

A few main things you need to always know about your website or business:

  • How much money you're making each day (Gross and Net).
  • How much money you're spending on your business each day (an average).
  • What you're spending the most time on and if it can be automated even a little bit.
  • What your main traffic sources are.
  • Where the majority of your sales are coming from.
  • What you can do to improve your clients experience.
  • What you can do to reduce your workload while keeping peak performance.
  • What you can do to speed up your website.
  • What you can do to bring in more leads
  • What you can do to increase your conversions
and much more...

If you thought this was going to be a short list, you're wrong, because you're a business owner and that means you have to do everything.  The one habit that you need to immediately boost your profits is to be on top of everything, because it's YOUR business.  If you don't have your hands in every aspect of your business, you either don't care much or you have such a large staff that needs managers and they're doing the majority of the work.

Not everyone will need to be on top of things, you can always fail time and time again then complain about it on open forums lol.  If you want to be successful, you need to work long hours and stay on top of things so you know exactly how everything is going.  Sure, you can take breaks and go on vacation, just be sure that you bring a laptop or cell phone with you so you can be reached and get online as soon as possible to fix something.  My vacations usually consist of me and my family going somewhere so I can work outside of my house while they have fun.  I run a business, so I need to be available at all times, which means I don't really get time off.  You'll need to do the same if you want to boost your profits and not just be living digital paycheck to digital paycheck One habit that will immediately improve your profits

In conclusion
You need to know how every gear is working within your business machine so you can get in there and fix it if something does happen to go wrong.  I'm sorry if you thought this was just going to be a one thing you need to focus on sort of discussion, but it's not, and you need to take your business seriously if you want to take over your industry One habit that will immediately improve your profits  So, get to work and start learning every little detail about your business and start watching your profits grow slowly after you start to automate and streamline everything One habit that will immediately improve your profits

I think focusing on the customers and keeping them in recurring work. And then focusing on the cashflow is going to help with the profits. You can see that some of the time the profits are not going to be good enough. And on that point you can see that being immediate worth of the activity is not going to be any easy. And on that note you can see that improving the profit is not going to be any easy there as well. I think you have made some really good points there.

I think that this is great advice here! We have to always be on top of our business and to know how it is functioning on an intimate level. Your list of what to keep up with everyday is a very good one, and I think that any business could profit from such a diligent list. I think it is really smart to pay attention to WHERE your best source of profits is coming from because then you can really target that market and hopefully increase profits. You should not let the other less primary sources of profit fall by the wayside though--you can also analyze those and figure out how to maximize their potential.

Great post of advice. Making sure your site and business are running smoothly logistically, and also personnel wise are extremely important. Downtime kills sites, and while bad employees who're rude or flaky can send customers far away from your company if you're a brick and mortar shop.

You definitely said it here: "Downtime kills sites". You have to stay on top of your content, on responding to comments, on soliciting reviews, on producing new content, and on continued communication with your customers, audience, and clients. Being flaky can cost you any job, whether it is online or not, and that is a practice to really avoid. I do not have any personnel yet, and I depend solely on myself, so I do not have the luxury of "flaking out"--if I do, I and I fail, I only have myself to blame!

Yes, I don't think enough people take downtime into consideration when they are starting a website. It is just one of the things that they need to take into consideration, and give the proper weight to it. It does matter for certain.

When I had my boutique, I was not the one operating the business because I had a full time job in the office. Maybe my boutique would have been a successful business if I was on top of everything. And although I was reviewing the transactions at night and doing some planning, I guess it is different if I had a hand in the operation. So maybe if I start a business again, I have to bear in mind that it is my business so I should be the one in charge.

A boutique is a tough business. It should definitely be closely watched. If not by you, then maybe someone you trust implicitly. I wouldn't hire a stranger to run it. It'd be a best friend or close relative.

The truth is that finding a really trustworthy person in our world today is very hard, even down to one's family blood members. If you try entrusting them with an investment to take care of, they seem to get complacent and allow your investment go to ruins. It's only on rare occasions that you get to have another person give his all and sacrifice everything in getting your investment up and and running.

I think boutique business is still profitable. It's kind of only hard in some places where the population is less. Otherwise the places where otherwise. You cans ee that it takes practice to keep the business profitable. I think lot of people spend their time and money into the business and learn from the experience on how it stays profitable.

Thanks, and as usual you really have some great tips here. Since I watch Shark Tank, I always listen keenly to what the sharks have to tell the new entrepreneurs. Their suggestions, like your posts tend to cut right to the heart of the matter. This is why they are a good thing.

When I launched my ecommerce websites, I did not have an unrealistic goal such as making $1000 every day. Well, I have that desire, however, I knew making that kind of amount is not going to happen for me. My goal was to make $10 a day and make at least $300 by the end of the month. My research told me with the kinds of products I had, it was doable. However, that did not happen, I am not even making half of what I had thought I will be making.
I am constantly analyzing what went wrong.
The tips mentioned here will definitely help me.

In order for any ecommerce website to do well from the start, it needs heavy traffic and strong word of mouth to build up healthy pre-launch buzz.

I think the two main determinants of profits in an organization are cost control and sales maximization. I always try my best to get information about my competitors and other things in the industry I am operating in. This is important as it helps me in determining the best marketing techniques to use to get more customers to buy my products. This information is crucial as it also helps me to plan for the future. I also try to find out about my customer's needs so as to satisfy them.

It requires dedication and a specific target in order for your course to go on a certain path towards your goals. It's like raising a kid. We may never be a perfect parent to the business but at least we're guided and we're determine to stay on top. A long way ahead but sure is worth is if you can keep the pace you set your mind to.

I totally agree with this. Being on top of things is just like being actively committed and dedicated to following up the business you have already invested on. If it's a blog or forum, you need to be at least 80% active online in order to rapidly take care of any immediate needs the site needs. If it's a physical business investment, being right on deck on all business hours is necessary for your business success.

That is true in any business. A business owner must master everything first, all the processes, the ins and outs, the strength and weaknesses. One important factor is by devising or having a full proof , proven effective marketing and generations flow chart of his business, doing this will ensure him complete control of his business, success and growth.

True, although it's good to note that if you wait to master everything, you can never actually start. Most of us learn the best by doing, so after you get some general knowledge under your belt you're better off by diving in, and then learning when you go.

The habit that can improve your profit is being a hardworking person, you know what if you are a hard working person, you don't need to problem about your profit, because you can earn it by doing your job regularly.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Corzhens
On the contrary not all hardworking people can be successful in terms of profits because he may be doing hard work but his method is not appropriate then that will be a bad habit. But if you are doing your job in the proper way and you are earning profit then that should be your habit. However there is always room for improvement so my take with the habit is to change it for the better.
