One authority website vs multiple websites

I've read a popular ebook that teaches the reader to make money online. The method involves making lots of websites composed of 5 pages max. Each website would target a specific niche and would sell a specific product or groups of products related to that niche. If course, the disadvantage of this is that you would have more domain costs.

You may also opt to maintain one authority website. Focus on this website and create lots on content for this one website instead of making lots of websites with just a few pages.

I personally prefer to have lots of websites with few pages than one website with lots of pages. I believe that it's easier to market different websites than just one website. What are your thoughts?

It depends on what you want and what you are capable of doing. I think sometimes it is better to just do one authority website because you can then put all your focus and effort on that one website. It can mean that you do it well which can be an amazing thing. But others may prefer to do multiple websites to try and get into as many niches as they can. That is a good thing to do if you are capable of managing multiple sites at once.

One authority website is better than multiple websites because you will have time and money to manage and operate this site. When you have multiple sites, you need to spend more time and more money. However, they say don't put your entire eggs in one basket. Based on this business mantra, you need to diversify. In other words, you need to have multiple websites. You have one authority site and it did not work, you will fail. However, you have multiple sites and at least one site worked, you will succeed with your online business.

The gamble with one website is that you will lose everything when it fails. Although you may have the confidence about your site if you are learned in SEO methods, it is still better if you have a backup site that can give you a rebound when something goes wrong with your main site. However, I know that another site entails expenses for the cost of the yearly payment for the domain and the host provider services as well.

In my opinion, the best thing about owning multiple sites is you can use the same ad networks and maximize your earnings. You might not be able to generate 10k traffic on one site, however, it is very possible to generate 10 k traffic from two sites. However, managing and maintaining multiple sites is also a lot of hard work.

I think that a one authority website is the way to go. Because your wasting lots of time, money, and energy that is going to result in a who lot of nothing at the end of the day. There are hundreds of millions of websites on the web. And google is going to rank down a 3 page website to far that you will be lucky if it appears in the first hundred listing on google and no one is going to search that far. Your better off working on a quality website that is going to rank on the first page of google.

I think building the authority site is not an easy job. And for this you have to work harder. You can make use of the backlinks and content and get it to earn more. In case of the multiple websites the amount of work it takes to maintain it increases. And so for this you have to understand that multiple websites is only good if you have subcontractors and the writers. So that can be good enough for managing the authority websites.

If you are more towards brand building I suggest going for the authority website. That's how it works for many of us these days as well.

Well, it boils down to what you really want because most people are a jack of all trade master of none. I prefer to have one thing that is very good than too many fairly stuff.I think it will be better to have a site that shows professionalism that so many sites with mediocre content.A good site sells itself for me though.

limberg,

It's really only a matter of personal taste how you want to approach this. I like that you retain your option to have an "Authority Site" in your arsenal. My personal approach makes it make sense that I have ONLY an Authority Site as my personal style wouldn't allow for anything more. What I choose to do is add sub-domains on and that way I can have all the ancillary, related sites catalogued in a hierarchical fashion. Whatever allows you to pull off your online endeavor is all good for the mission. Good luck with yours.

I think that multiple authority websites would probably be the best, because you would have the opinion of several experts as opposed to just one. I think it depends on how comfortable you feel with the site you are using though and how well regarded it is overall.

One authority website is my pick simply because of the fact that I always want to consolidate the business I do and by having one authority website. So, that's my pick instead of having many websites.

Sometimes, it's better running an authority website than diverting attentions on multiple websites. Being successful with an online business doesn't necessarily entail running multiple websites but concentrating and working hard on an authority website. Once you build a brandable website and keep your target audience engaged, you become an authority soonest.

Authority leads to rankings and rankings lead to traffic. When traffic starts flowing, you earn consistent revenue. All you need is an All-in-one SEO tool that helps you set up a kind of brand that is loved by search engines. That must be a website whose health is pretty good or beyond that.

I guess it is not wise to have multiple websites for one purpose if you are alone in that endeavor. Your focus will be scattered and the quality of your website will suffer much more with the contents and the service, if any. What’s ideal is to concentrate on one website and put everything there. You can also enhance the existing contents if you want but what’s more important is the posting of new contents.
