Tips for a beginning blogger?

Hello, everyone. My name is Pedro and I am currently in the process of trying to make a living online. I plan on launching a blog soon about spirituality, no particular religion just spiritual practices as a whole. What tips would you give me on how to build a website, and how to monetize it? Do you think that given my theme and experience is it possible to make a moderate amount of money given time?

Don't worry about profits in the beginning. You need to focus on high quality content within a niche you're familiar with. If you're writing about something you're already familiar with or passionate about, it will be easier to churn out content on a regular basis.

Get your content optimized for the search engines but make sure it's readable for your visitors. You'll need to focus on your headers, descriptions and your content so that it's all within the acceptable guidelines set forth by Google. You will likely be using Wordpress, and I hope you are, which you can just download the YOAST plugin to help you optimize every post on your website.

I would advise writing up around 10 posts and getting them on your website, then writing up 10 more and scheduling them out over a months time. This way you will have an active blog which Google likes to see. Wordpress has a built in scheduler that is easy to set up, so you don't have to worry about that at all. It's located on the post page where you're going to write up your content, instead of hitting "publish" you will just schedule your content to go out on a certain date.

Even though you're scheduling content, you need to be posting a few times a week in order to get even more content on your blog. Remember, content is king and you won't get traffic without it Tips for a beginning blogger? Well, you won't get your traffic to stay on your website without it lol Tips for a beginning blogger?

After about 30 days of posting and scheduling posts, you will then be able to notice some traffic coming in from long tailed keywords, hopefully. If you're not getting any traffic, you can always set up a super targeted facebook PPC campaign and bring people in to one of your blog posts in order for them to begin reading. This is a great way to get shares and in return, more traffic that is 100% free Tips for a beginning blogger?

Hope this helps you out some Tips for a beginning blogger?

I very much agree that you have to focus on the quality of the content and probably with the regularity of uploading the contents. It is not good to start by posting content every day and later on you will be posting just once a week. You have to be explicit with your posting day like every Monday, Wednesday and Friday that you have to be diligent so your readers will not be disappointed.

I think to monetize and build your website successfully, you should look at what base you want to target. You want to target a particular base that you know will benefit from a website such as this. Perhaps you can use a mystical or cosmic theme on your blog. It should be a theme that evokes feelings of calmness and focus. People that are interested in spirituality aren't necessarily religious like you said. Some people are just interested in meditation or gaining more knowledge about the world. Make sure you give them access to resources that can help them unlock their true spiritual potential. To satisfy the naysayers, you can introduce your blog with an explanation of what your purpose is. Keep in mind some of these people are looking for answers because they may have a struggle such as depression or an obstacle they want to overcome. It is important that you make your website a favorable environment for those people as well. Use keywords all over your site so that Google will be more likely to put you in a higher ranking. You will get more credibility with ad companies, and you will monetize your blog in no time.

It is a great way to get idea of what topics people would most likely to read about, which will help your blog to grow .Understand your audience is the next thing in the process. A great way for this technique is to simply ask your readers in twitter, facebook , linkedin with a engaging quote. If people respond well, then it will be great idea to continue with it. Write for yourself first. just figure our your ideas, thoughts, opinions and write to put them together to make meaningful content.Write it and they will come. Build your email list from day one. Having a mailing list you to allow to promote your content to your audience directly without worrying about rankings. Love your existing readers you already have. A lots of blogger engage in finding new audience ignoring the old ones. Give ample time to your existing readers that you care for them and their ideas that make your blog grow. Consistency is one of the most thing a blogger tend to forget. Make sure to do consistently blogging.Give away your knowledge. Don't afraid to share your knowledge to your audience. You generally hide your secret value. There is nothing like this. Don't keep your stuff for rainy days. Say true to your voice and yourself.

Quality is always important rather than quantity, so I always post less content on my blogs but quality ones only. Many beginner online blog writers post lots of contents at the same time with not so good writing (no quality). It affects their traffics because we don't want our readers will only visit our blogs for once. We always want our reader to come back and read our more blogs and explore our websites. Definitely you need to invest some time on writing and always remember that good contents always attracts.

I agree. Quality is always the best option. It's just like in posting. We see a lot of long posts but the qualities are somewhat appalling. I prefer shorter posts but with direct to the point content.

Definitely, as we all know that content is king, we always need to concentrate on creating good niche first. Good quality always matters and it also helps you to build the trust of your readers.

Above all else; don’t quit!

In my experience it takes a long time to get a blog to a stage that you have regular traffic and a steady income, but if you persevere and you post quality content on a regular basis, is does happen eventually.

I think that your chosen topic is a good one. Spiritually is something that has many different aspects to it that you could explore in some lengthy posts. It’s also something that a lot of people are interested in.

As for monetizing your blog; I have done very well out of Amazon. This could be particularly effective in your niche, because of all the books and videos that are available on spiritual topics. As well as using the Amazon native shopping ads, which are very effective, you could do blog posts like “Top Ten Yoga Videos”, “Top Ten Meditation Videos”, “Best Books by the Dalai Lama”, and so on.

Good luck. It sounds like a really interesting project.

To monetize your blog, you can use Amazon or third party affiliate marketing links to earn money thru Adsense. I use Amazon for blogger dot com and Adsense links to earn money.

Can you explain more please? how to use amazon

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

You can add in the amazon capsules into your blog. For example, you need to have an account at Amazon as a seller not buyer. Then if you are using bloggger dot com, you can add in the Amazon ads html code into the Ads section.

Wow... I'm also thinking on doing that, with a differet topic of course, the only thing that is stopping me is me queationing myself, "am I good enough to start a blog". To monitize a blog for me is just extra, the main thing of having a blog for me is to share my thought about a topic I love and also gain knowledge from people with better experience that I have. And I know there are lots of them.

With your plan, goodluck. I guess the best advise that i could think of is, do it because you enjoy doing it. The rest will just be extra reward.

A tip for a beginner would be guest blogging on other blogs similar to yours. This way, you build a rapport and community, introduce yourself in this niche and establish yourself by providing quality posts to other bloggers. The gesture is usually returned so its a win-win situation for all parties.

Hi Pedro, welcome to Seoclerks. I found a great tutorial of how to create a blog from scratch, including ways to optimise it for search engines. It is a step by step tutorial of ways to create and add themes to it. It was created by a forbes top ten internet marketer, Neil Patel. Search his name on Google and you can get links to his blog where he shares great tips and tutorials. The link to the blog tutorial is as follows.

Post constantly, it's one of the things every new blogger should do. No matter what, you should always try to keep your readers updated with what you're currently doing/working on. Even a small photo you took that day could be worth sharing.
Also, be active on social media and post there daily, even a simple question like "What are you doing?" is important.

If you joined blogging just because you believed that there is a lot of money to be made, then I suggest you to give up blogging and start a business. For most people blogging will not even earn a living.
Secondly, you want to become a blogger in order to gain reputation, than abandon blogging and focus on social work. There are hundreds of thousands bloggers, yet they remain in the dark for most people.
If you have patience, intent then only you can join blogging.

Oh, not it's not about the money. I mean I do want to make some money but I'm not planning on getting rich or even making a living out of this. It's just that I am currently unemployed and I need to earn some money so I can invest in something else. (Education or business maybe)

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

vinaya
YOu say you are unemployed and want to blog because you want to make money. In that case, instead of launching your own blog, join writing sites and paid to post forums. You can publish articles on writing sites and post short posts on forums. Forum pays upfront where as on writing site, you will earn some percent of revenue generated by your articles.

I'd say you should enjoy what you do and read other blogs too. If you worry too much on earning money right away, it could be really stressful to you and frustration may even come to your way. Take your time and blog at your own pace. Do not yet think of blogging just to earn until you have enough audience that check your blog on a basis.
Make posts about interesting topics and your idea on some trends nowadays. As long as it is on the trend, people will search for it and will stumble upon that post on your blog.
Also, share your blog on social media and other websites! Ask your friends to share your blog to other people. There will always be people who love blogging and reading blogs. There is no need to hurry and to worry yourself too much.

There are several ways to monetize a blog.

My main tip is for you to focus exclusively on creating quality content relevant to your audience. Work a good SEO strategy and the results will surely appear.

You can use Google Adsense ads, sell affiliate courses, sell Amazon books on review post, have your virtual store with T-shirts and accessories on your niche, among other options.

In any case, work on the quality of your content and the rest will only be the result of a good job.

Good luck!

What can I tell you that others haven't already? As someone just starting off, there is one thing you need to keep in mind, and that is while monetization may be a goal for you, don't expect it to be a reality any time soon. It's going to take a lot of time and effort, so the best advice that I can give you is simply to remain consistent. Make a schedule for when you're going to put out your content, and stick to it. Don't post once this week and then again in three weeks. Make it so that readers can expect when you're going to be giving them content. You also have to enjoy the process of blogging and use that as a motivation to put out content, rather than making money. Because if you don't enjoy what you do, the road to monetization is going to be far harder than you expected.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

PedroP
Yeah, content is the life of our business so I've been told.Content attract people and people generate visits and revenue. So the main focus is consistent content and not giving up as it might take a while to get the ball rolling.

Content and knowledge of your content is going to make a big difference. These are the things that you might want to focus on when you are trying to get individuals to look at your blog. It is simply one of the ways to try to get the type of content and noteriety that you might need.

This is so true. If you are just starting out, don't get your hopes all hyped up and expect to get money in your first days or week. Remember that you are not the only one doing this kind of thing and there is really a high competition when it comes to blogging.

My hopes lie in this blog so I don't intend on giving up soon. Also, spirituality is a theme lots of people can relate too so I'm counting on making touching content to get people to stop and stick by. Other than that only time will tell.

The main matter is you have to generate good traffic for your website for getting affiliation from any company. You have to write unique content must. Some times keyword generate 85% traffic for your website. For unique article you will get good numbers of visitors in this world. You have to become a good keyword researcher. Every day search engine keyword volume get change. If you write by high volume keyword and if you do hyperlink keyword with a good page rank website than you will get good numbers of traffic. Only white hat SEO can give you good result.

Thanks

Hello Pedro! So great that you want to make your passion for blogging (writing) a full time job. I am a blogger too, but it is only a hobby to me. Nevertheless, the best advice I can give you is to write only about the things that truly set your soul on fire. People feels that and they love that kind of transparency. Be PATIENT, at the beginning you wont have as much readers as you'd like... but you'll get there, give it some time. Last but not least... be constant, always.

Great, advise! I am writing about a topic that I have great interest on and have extensively researched about which is spirituality. So yeah indeed it sets my soul on fire. And I know about patience. I started out slowly because I don't want to rush things out but rather make my content useful rather than abundant. Thanks for the tips ;)

Choosing where you want to build your blog is pretty much the first thing you have to do. One of the most important blogging tips and tricks for beginners is to spend time on the user experience for your readers. You should write relevant content that can inform your readers, that is very important. Also, you should use a blog topic generator tool.
I hope these tips will help you a lot.

I think your topic will make a little challenging to monetize the website. I would take a hard look at how large and well-trafficked sites appear to be making money. This may mean you will need more than just a blog, and it will need to be a membership driven site. Not a paid membership, but more community based where you find ways to keep people on the site and engaging with content.

Hey Pedro,

If you start as a blogger, then you should consider two important factors to attract readers and make your blogs great as possible:

- Provider quality and useful content to readers.
- An easy blog design

Hope that helped.

When I was co-blogging, the first step that I had learned is how to gather ideas for blogging. And since the niche was my passion, all I did was to think of my passion when I am not doing anything. I am a dog lover and writing about pets is very enjoyable that I felt like having a cornucopia of ideas on my head. That’s the tip that I can give you – write about your passion so you will have an easy time that you will enjoy writing. And although you will encounter the great wall sometimes but it’s not really a writer’s block for it is easy to overcome.

Making money from blogging takes a bit of time. I agree with the advise, first concentrate on getting your blog to a high quality blog. Work on your content, make it SEO friendly and get organic traffic, then you will start to see results. Blogging is a skill, so it wil take some time, but if you put in the the hard work eventually you will learn and before you know it you will be earning a living from it.

On Monetization:
Don't depend too much on ads. You won't earn much and it isn't just because people use ad blockers. Try selling something your target audience might buy: books about spirituality for example.

This is purely motivational:
Anyone can make money from blogging but it won't happen overnight. Some believe it can take up to six months or more before search engines start sending traffic to your site regularly. Try not to give up before you've been blogging for more than six months. That's how long it might take to find out if your blog will be successful or not.
