My Quora Journey: Simple things I've figured out.

Now I posted a discussion not that long ago which was basically going over the beginning of my journey with Quora, and I've been pretty excited about it My Quora Journey: Simple things I

If you didn't see that post, you can view it HERE.

And now I'm back to talk about my new findings My Quora Journey: Simple things I

So I've been doing a bit of research on how to pull in the most traffic from Quora and I've found a few things that you can do, and some you should avoid to produce the best results My Quora Journey: Simple things I

  • First: Focus on a main category of Quora and stick with it. Become the authority in the section and post as much as you can. Don't post garbage information because that will just make you look bad. Focus on high quality content and responses in order to get a good amount of views. You never know the search algorithm exactly so put in some quality work and you will be rewarded My Quora Journey: Simple things I

  • Second: Focus on categories that are easier to get into the top 3 most viewed writers of the section. You can see your competition by doing a general search and choosing a category.

You'll see something like this on the top right side of the page (I chose PC Gaming as an example)

My Quora Journey: Simple things I
Basically you need to get more than 56,829 views on your answers in order to get listed in the top 3. It sounds like a tough thing to do, but it's not really difficult if you invest your time right. Focus on high quality content and the views will come in My Quora Journey: Simple things I

  • Next: DO NOT post your URL in the question if you ask one. It turns into a hyperlink and you're at a higher risk of getting a penalty or getting banned. Keep your account safe and do not do this.

  • Finally: Edit your profile so that is shows your website URL next to your name on each post. This will get you direct traffic from people doing a copy/paste of the URL. This will help you get some leads if you are selling stuff online My Quora Journey: Simple things I

  • Finally... part 2: Add at least one of your websites to the extended part of your bio so that people can see them. You can make these hyperlinks so that people can click through. I set 2 of my websites in there and one of them is the same one that shows next to my name on each post. This way people will click through to my profile and if they don't want to do the copy/paste they can just click on the link My Quora Journey: Simple things I

Hopefully that helps someone with their Quora maketing My Quora Journey: Simple things I

Oh thanks Razzy. I am going to go and add my website so it shows next to my name, what a great tip! I never would have thought of that. Now I am wondering which website I should add there?

I guess I could change it every now and then? What would you advise?

I didn't know about searching for the most viewed writers and the TOP 3 being highlighted. I am so going to try and get myself in there for my niches! Thank you so much for all this information.

What you should do is set up your analytics, if you haven't already, so that you can track the traffic coming in from quora.

Set up your profile to have hyperlinks in it so you can see if people are coming from there or if they're coming from links you've posted in your responses. Be careful with your responses though, don't post too many links. I'd say do a link in every 3rd post, and vary up the links as well. Link to multiple platforms and websites so it doesn't look like you're just pushing your own websites My Quora Journey: Simple things I

After you get your analytics set up, if you haven't done that yet, I would recommend switching up the URL that shows next to your name so it's kind of like A/B testing. You can track one website for a week or two and then switch it out. Figure out what converts best and keep that one up My Quora Journey: Simple things I You'll have to be active on Quora when doing this because if you're active while website A is showing next to your name and not active when website B is showing, you'll get results that are not very accurate.

I'll definitely come back and let you guys know when I figure out some more neat stuff My Quora Journey: Simple things I

Thanks Razzy. Yeah I'm finding it a bit tricky to be active on a constant basis on Quora. Its more like once a week or every two weeks I get on and do a big blast of answers and then disappear haha

Some things I've figure out from posting on Quora:

Never promote link on questions that already have 20+ answers, sure if you want to write a big enough answer with lots of details you can go ahead and try but if you are planning to write a comple of centeses just for promoting you link to waste your time, you'll get noticed and flagged.

It's way better to find relevant questions but with a few answers, preferably none, nobody will flag you can you'll get away with promotion easily.

I think more content that gets upvote, it can accommodate the links. In some cases the links may not work well. You have to understand that quora may not work for all the people. You just have to try the right niche. Make sure you are not using the affiliate links. Just use the links to the website. That way you can get the traffic. Affiliate links type account gets banned quickly.

I started with Quora practically as soon as this Q&A site began. When I created my profile it did not occur to me to include my links. When I read your tips I went back and checked. So I updated my profile with the link. Thanks for this advice.

Another update:
Quora now has a feature where you can share links. Just sign in to Quora and see the red button at the top right hand corner of the page. You can add a question or share a link. It's very easy and it's a very nice feature. When you go to your profile page and look at the sidebar your links show as “Shares”.

Great tips on how to use Quora. I quite like Quora and I use it for research especially when I'm writing articles for m blog. What I don't like about it, is that you can't use it for all your niches. For example I do alot of marketing in the fashion arena. You can't really use use Quora for fashion marketing. Instead I use Reddit. However Quora is still a good platform especially if the product you have is to do with online/affiliate marketing.

This is a reminder for me to check on Quora because I was not able to fully understand the concept and the benefits to get from that site. My impression of Quora is that it is another social media network that is the reason why I did not pursue because I might not have ample time to engage in the posting and commenting. Besides, I still have no website to speak of so I am delaying my Quora activities.
