Thank you! Website speed slightly faster and a little traffic spike!

Last week my website was at its slowest ever and my daily traffic averaged around 150 a day.

On Sunday and yesterday I started trying to make some changes and it seemed to go like a tiny weeny bit faster. Then yesterday a freelancer started looking into the issue for me. He made a few changes and my website is still very slow, but it has sped up a little in comparison.

I noticed today that my traffic for yesterday was 476 and today it is already 378 and it is only 8pm today.

I wonder if the increase has to do with the slight increase in speed? I would love to think so!

Unfortunately my bounce rate for that website is still so bad I don't want to share it!

I don't think that a small increase in website speed would justify a jump in traffic from 150 to 400+. However, unless your website was so slow to begin with that people stopped waiting for it to load and bounced off the site before it fully loaded. If this was the case and they can now access your website you should a reduction of bounce rate. How long does it take for your site to load?

Hey Webguy2024 I am so embarrassed by the loading time I don't even want to put it down here for you all to see LOL. Let's just say there have been times that I have contributed to my own bounce rate because I was too impatient to wait for my own page to load...

Yes for sure loads of people would have left before it loaded, I am sure of that!

Where is your website hosted? Call them and tell them the problem of load time. Maybe they can add fix some issues that will speed up your website (are they throttling?). What kind of website are you running, Wordpress, Blog, template, custom? Properly indexing the DB and doing general DB optimization and other practices can add a ton of speed to your website.

Question: Are you sure that the website is slow? The reason I ask is that many countries and the ISP's internet service providers do not offer high speed internet to their customers. Many times this is the reason for a high bounce rate and lower traffic with a super slow website. Slow ISP's is a problem for every website owner worldwide and is also why Google gives website owners a boost for faster loading websites. With your next website try a flat design, these load much faster and will help people with super slow internet. Keep the JavaScript down to a minimum because this will slow down the load time. Maybe have a pro go over your site to optimize as much as possible. This should not cost a lot and will pay for itself over a short period of time.

Thanks Webuy2024, I have a freelancer from here taking over from me because I am really clueless. My skills are content writing, on-page seo and social media marketing. When it comes to website speed, hosting and coding and things like that I am sorely lacking in skills and knowledge!

I am changing my hosting and then next week he will be making some changes for me.

Hey girl that is whats up! it makes me so happy to find out that your working on your problems and making things work. More traffic equals more money so hey that is another good thing! please let me know the website or blog that you have going so that i can promote it on my Facebook and twitter pages to help you get a few more people looking and watching! I think that the speed of your website has a ton to do with your negative bounce rate, if your able to get it running super smooth people will stay longer. If your website is taking so long to load anyone would go away fast. I Agree with webguy too people are bouncing more because of the slowness. How long does it take to load on average?

Thank you Jkeyz2 that is so nice of you! My website is kaboutjie.com and for some reason the load time appears to be different depending on the country, but it is really slow still. When you have a look you will see that it is slow but it is double as fast as it was last week which will give you an idea of how bad it was LOL.

By next week I should have my hosting sorted out and then Abid can start fixing it up nicely for me Thank you! Website speed slightly faster and a little traffic spike! I am so excited!

I hope you will get this resolved soon as website speed is very important if you want to encourage visitors to remain on the site and check back again. It is a good idea to hire someone who might help you at it. Wish I could give you some tips but I do not have any idea in this field sorry.

Thanks EliteWriter, I had Abid look at my website and sort it all our for me. I am so chuffed with the results now! I have a new theme and he has checked all my plugins and made changes to ones that were slowing down my website!

What I generally do in case the website is too slow:
  • enable caching (images, page content)
  • Minify HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • remove duplicate javascript codes (if you have any duplicate javascript codes than it can cause your website to load slowly)
  • GZIP compression (works wonders)
  • remove unused plugins, or update plugins

Generally, your website speed needs to be fast otherwise traffic will stay away since it will take a little extra time to load.

Yes Everett I am seeing that problem with visitors not bothering to stay long enough for my website to load. I am so excited now though because things will be changing soon!

Site speed has an effect on your search engine ranking. Slow loading sites are ranked lower. If your site loads fast, it will be ranked higher. A high ranking site will always get more traffic.
Visitors do not like to visit the site that loads slow. If your site loads faster, you will always have more visitors.
