Now I've had a couple hundred banners made for various websites of mine. I'd like to think I know a lot about the designs that you will need in order to increase your conversions. Now when I say a couple hundred banners made, I'm talking about in total, not per website

Ok, so the best way to get a banner made is to contact a designer here on SeoClerks and let them know what you're looking for. Don't just buy right away, ask them questions prior to purchasing. This will show you exactly how long it will take for them to respond and at the same time you can judge if they're going to be professional with you. I've done this with dozens of designers here on SeoClerks and I always go to two different guys for all my logos and banners when I need them because they are quick at designing them, edit anything I want tweaked, and are extremely professional to top it off

So now you have your designer, what kind of banner do you have them make for you? Well it all depends on where you're using it. If you're using it on a random website then you'll have to see what they accept. Some websites won't accept banners that are overly flashy because they feel it will make their website look bad. Other website owners don't care if you have a banner that is so flashy that it causes seizures, but that's not always the case lol. I'm a huge fan of flashy banners because they pop off the page and increase my click through rate. I have had to tone them down sometimes though, which is sad and lowers my CTR, but I understand.

So now you know what the website owner wants, but what do you do?


Here are a few things I do to increase my click through rates on my banners:

• If you can do a flashy banner, do it! I had some banners where the text had an alternating strobe of 6 different colors. These banners looked like they were made in the 90's and I don't know why, but people clicked through a ridiculous amount on these lol. If you are advertising on a static page (a page that doesn't have a lot of moving parts) you'll want to go with a flashy/strobe like banner because it will pop off the screen
  
• I also like to have a price on the banner. This will tell people how much they will have to pay after they click through. Not only will they click through, but it will increase your conversions because they know what they're in for when they get to your pages.
  
• A "Click Here" button is almost always a necessary when making a banner. You need to tell people to click your banner and if there's not a click here button you'll lose clicks.
  
• Don't use a cursive text, use a font that anyone can read. Don't get too fancy because you want people to understand your ad as soon as they see it.
  
• Now you can get tricky and use the strobe feature around the click here button like it's a border. Or you can even make the "Click Here" strobe so that people are attracted to it and get sucked in
  
• Use images that are already on your website. This will show the person that your banner and the website are actually linked. They'll feel a little more at ease since they match up. I don't know exactly why this is, but it works
  

Now that you have the basics of a good banner ad, go out there and get some designs done
