Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

I've been talking in few other discussions about amazon merch and I thought I'd give a quick tutorial on what it is and how to use it.

So, amazon merch is amazons way to take over the tshirt selling business by having designers sell their own designs on amazon tshirts. It's a really clever way to get amazing artists to put their images on your shirts Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

You can find amazon merch by clicking HERE

Just so you know, it's not an instant setup. You'll have to request an invitation and wait to be accepted, but it's worth it Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go! It took around 3 months for me to be accepted but now it should be quicker since the merch team has been hiring new people to speed up the process. Even if you don't plan on selling right now, it's a good idea to get in and request an invitation now.

So let's fast forward to after you're accepted.
You'll be able to upload 25 images at first and once you sell 25 shirts you'll be upgraded to level 2 where you can upload 50 images. I have friends who have upwards of 5,000 designs uploaded and are selling. These guys are making $100 to $300 a day on complete autopilot since Amazon handles everything Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

So now let's talk about how you upload your images. It's actually pretty simple Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!
You take your image and you can upload it to the front and/or back of the shirt. See the image below.

NOTE: your image will need to be 4500x5400 pixels in order to fit properly.
Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!
After you upload your images you can now pick the type of shirt you want, fit type of the shirt (male, female, or child) and 5 colors you want the shirt to show up in.

Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

When you're starting off you'll want to have the lowest possible price in order for your shirts to sell. This way you can level up quicker and get more designs up to make more money in the long run Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go! I priced this shirt at $10.99 and I'll profit $0.03 per sale. I will make next to nothing per sale, but I'll sell more and rank up quicker Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

After you set up your shirt, you now have to add a description and details. This is where SEO comes into play ;)

Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!
Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!
I basically hammered the keyword "Marilyn Monroe" so that I show up in the search results more often. I didn't add anything to the description because I think you get the idea lol Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go! I'm using my Marilyn Monroe tshirt design since it was removed from my merch account due to trademark law. There are other Marilyn Monroe shirts on amazon, but those companies selling the shirts must have permission to do so.

Now when you continue on after you add your details and description, you'll be shown an example of what your shirt listing will look like.

YOU MUST CLICK "Sell - Publick on Amazon" IF YOU WANT TO SELL SHIRTS WITHOUT PROMOTING THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you choose "Sample - Direct Link Only" then you're only selling to the people you share your link with.

After you click "Submit Product" it will go into review. All designs get approved within 24 hours, which is pretty quick for how many designs are going through amazon merch. Submit your designs in the morning and they'll usually be accepted by lunch time Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

In time, if you're lucky, you can make a good passive income and get paid by amazon Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

Here's my last sale:
Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

I made $48.02 while I was asleep, which is pretty awesome Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

Oh, I forgot to mention, all your shirts are available for amazon prime since it's amazon selling your shirts, not you Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go! On you shirts page it will sale "Sold by Amazon" Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go! How cool is that!

Interesting stuff Raz. I can see a lot of people going for this thinking "Oh I've got an excellent idea for a t-shirt!" which was precisely my thinking and reasoning for checking it out. Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go! I like the fact that you don't have to do anything really other than just upload your design and fill out the actual product details and set your price etc and they handle everything for you, shipping, returns etc which is cool.

I've checked their Request invitation form page and it says on the page "Please tell us a little more about your company" and asks for your Organization Name. It also asks you to chose an Industry Type as well from App Dev, Charity, Novelty t-shirt business, school, brands, artist etc or small business or other. What if you don't have an Organization Name or can you just make something up? And what Industry Type would you suggest someone that's none of them or just a guy or single mom or dad at home or something to choose?

Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!
It looks like they make a big deal about some of the big brand names in the gaming industry that use them. So I wonder if it would be good to make up a name that makes you sound like a game dev or something and even possibly even go that route with it. Or whether to just put my name as the Organization Name and choose the "Other" option and just put something here like "I'm a designer" or something. Or perhaps I should choose the Novelty t-shirt business option then register it as a business after and if I'm approved.

I was only playing around with it though. Does seem cool though I like how you can upload your own designs and could you imagine if you saw someone out and about wearing your design? Or if one of your designs went viral that could be good.

I think there has been something like this before as well hasn't there? Where you upload your design but then they print it for you and then send it to you so not like this really and on this scale. What is the quality of the t-shirts like though? Are the designs just stuck onto the t-shirts or died into them? I hate those ones where the designs are just stuck on them as they usually come off after a couple washes!

But still I can see the appeal that it would have and the potential to reach more people by letting the people upload/design their own t-shirts whether to make quickly for a team they have or for an event like someone's birthday or wedding reception, stag do or other shindig etc. Or just to sell to anyone that wants to buy it and make some money from it along the way. So why not!? Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

I can't comment too much on the registration because I did it so long ago lol.

I remember it was pretty simple though. Try not to fake anything because if they do a check on your info, you'll get denied pretty quick. I wasn't a tshirt business before I requested an invitation, but I did have a tshirt website so that's probably one of the reasons I was accepted. I added my business info, which is in the marketing niche not the tshirt selling and designing niche and I was still accepted Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

I think it's really up to who's reviewing your request and how they're feeling that day lol.

The shirts seem to be pretty nice. I've only seem pictures of my friends buying them, I've never bought my own lol Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go! From what I saw, I couldn't tell if they were DTG or screen printed onto the garment. A while back there were multiple types of shirts but when I was typing up this tutorial I could only pick from 2. It might have to do with the colors I chose though. If there aren't any shirts in a certain color then they won't show up as an option. If you pick 5 colors then the shirts have to be in stock for each color in order for it to be an option. But since Amazon is starting to push this pretty hard, I would assume that they are getting more and more shirts in every day to keep up with orders Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

Awesome yeah I'm not saying put some fake details when I say make something up. I'm thinking of literally starting a website first, get it up and running, possibly even register it as a LTD business, get a company registration number and listed with Companies House etc and then applying. I would imagine that would help me and improve my chances of being approved if they can see I'm a professional custom t-shirt design and print service beforehand. Or, are they just looking to accept solo entrepreneurs as well and if so in which case, I could just choose the "Other" option and put here that I'm just looking to try it out. I do already have an Amazon affiliate account and have had so for years so maybe that might help me but that's if they even look into that. There must be a reason why they are manually choosing to approve people and that must be because they do some background checks into you first so that they only have high quality sellers using the service as opposed to tons of ordinary people. But ordinary people still go on to become extraordinary people. Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

Oh yeah, it would definitely speed up the process since you'd technically be cutting in line because you are already doing what they want their merch account holders to do Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

You mentioned the lengthy waiting time. Other than the actual wait for invite to the program, are there other requirements to being accepted?

Also, really love this idea. I know someone who makes designs of stuff, digital art, he might be into something like this. Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

TommyCarey

I had a tshirt website set up and selling my own designs already. I used that as an example of what I was doing and I think that helped me get accepted. I think you'd be able to use a teespring profile as well if you don't have an actual website selling stuff.

Hell, you can just use any obscure website that is selling shirts and say it's your own Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go! I wasn't asked to verify if the website in my application was mine lol.

I've used plugins/apps on shopify and wordpress to help streamline the whole tshirt process and I've found that amazon merch is by far the easiest. I still have my shopify store selling shirts, but it is in the process of be reworked.

And, P.S. Can you still do this if you don't have an Amazon affiliate account? Yes, I have an old Amazon account that I use for making purchases of amazon stuff - and it used to have the affiliate part on it which i used once or twice on my blog, but we're talking back in 2010. I didn't use my Amazon affiliate account for years and only recently noticed it's shut down or it says it can't receive earnings. Not sure when or how or why or just through inactivity, but not sure what i can do with Amazon in terms of selling now.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

TommyCarey

I don't have an affiliate account and I'm on Amazon Merch Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

When you sign up for Amazon Merch I would go through a new account creation process just so you can keep everything separate. Unless you want to tie it into your affiliate account, it's up to you. I have my personal amazon account and my merch account separate so that my payments don't go to my personal bank account.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Everett

How come you don't want your payments going into your personal bank account? Or do you want them to go into your business bank account for tax reasons? Can you clarify this for me?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

TommyCarey

I have all my sales go through my business account for tax purposes, correct Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

I have a registered business so I pay myself whenever I need money. I need to set up a payment plan for when I want to buy a new car, because ya know, you'll need to provide income reports and if I'm not getting checks I can't prove it lol.

Since amazon merch is pretty much automated, I can have my profits deposited into my business account and I can use that money for other projects pretty easily Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Everett

Yeah, I thought so. I have a personal bank account, and a business bank account as well. My personal bank account doesn't really get that many funds, and I should definitely use it more. I do everything through my business bank account which I need to stop.. lol

I need to set up a payment plan for when I want to buy a new car, because ya know, you'll need to provide income reports and if I'm not getting checks I can't prove it lol

And that, sir, is why I like to buy with cash. I'm currently saving up for a used car, I am about 3k/5k of the way there. The car won't be nothing fancy, just a ride to go to places, like my real estate courses in the future. However, I do want an SUV. Lol.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

TommyCarey

Yeah, I'm the same way. I wanted to put down 5k to 7k on a nice used car but the lady in my life wanted a brand new 2016 ford escape. Luckily I didn't have to really prove my income since my best friends step dad worked at the dealership and handled everything for us lol Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

This is the first brand new car I've ever had and it is pretty nice not having to worry about anything breaking because it's under warranty Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go! I normally bought pick ups and drove them like they were tanks haha Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

Nice! I want a new car soon. Mine is a 2000 model with 220 000kms on the clock.

It is still going really well since it is a BMW but I do think that soon I might start having to cover some nasty repair bills, as is natural when you have an old car.

I want to sell it before this starts happening and then buy a new car. I have no idea what I want to buy though. I know my husband is very into cars. Maybe I should just tell him what my price range is and he should go and get me something nice Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

Yes I also do everything through my business account Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go! Much easier to keep it all in once place and better for taxes.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Oh ok, but maybe if you have an Amazon Affiliate account the whole process might be a little quicker?

I have an Amazon Affiliate account and I've made a few sales. It would be nice for me to bunch it all together.

yeah, you might get a quicker acceptance if you have an amazon affiliate account, but I haven't tested that since I don't have one lol Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

Wow looks very interesting, thank you for sharing this amazing tutorial, definitely I will give a try, do I need something else to apply or just an account at amazon? Also, I will wait even 5 months it’s not a problem for me Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

You'll need pretty basic info like your name, address and website. If you don't sell on a website already, just use a low trafficked shirt selling website that you can find and use it as your own Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go! I wasn't asked to verified my website so you don't have to worry much.

Don't expect to get rich quick Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

Do what I said above so you can level up as fast as possible. I was just talking to my friend and he has between 600 and 700 designs out of a possible 4,000 and he's making $3,000 to $7,000 a month on auto pilot Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go! Well, kind of. He has to do a lot of research on designs and get his designer to make something. But he doesn't have to look for the sales, make the clothes, or handle any of the shipping Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Lynne

And how long did it take for him to get to that amount of money on autopilot every month Razzy? Other than making cool designs and optimize the products for SEO what else did he do?

How often does he add new designs?

Sorry for all the questions but I have to know all these things!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

TommyCarey

He's been doing it for a while, but not all the time. He would upload a batch of designs and let them settle for a few months and then check on them. He's at the point that he can leave designs on there since they aren't taking up precious slots lol.

I think he's been doing amazon merch for around 2 years now. He got in pretty early and started building his account right away.

He actually helped sell a friends account for $75,000 and it was making 1k to 3k a month lol. He's in talks with a buyer about his own account and he's going to be getting 150k for his Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go! Not bad for 2 years of work lol. He made about 100k in 2 years of sales and now he's going to be selling his account for 150k. So he's going to pull in 250k for 2 years of work, not bad Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

Haha yeah, thank you for your advice, i appreciate that. Wow $7k a month that's amazing, definitely his autopilot method is giving some good results LOL

Nice tutorial Razzy, well done!! Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

So this is basically a "set and forget" thing then?
I mean, you upload your photos and then.. Just wait for the payments.. If any. Right?

Cool thing for sure!

Best Regards,
hitmeasap

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

TommyCarey

Yeah, it's kind of a "Set and Forget" type thing. I actually forgot to log into my account for a while and randomly got a payment from Amazon and remembered why Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go! I logged in and checked my account to see what sold lol.

You'll have to do a good amount of work at the beginning after you get accepted. You have to start off with 25 great designs at dirt cheap prices in order to level up. Find out what is selling well and try to copy it. Don't make an exact duplicate, but something similar will sell Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go! Your first 25 spots are your bread and butter, don't put stuff in there just because YOU like it. Those first designs have to be tediously analyzed to figure out what is going to sell and rank you up as quick as possible.

Very good points here Razzy thanks, I've got my notebook with me this morning LOL, writing down all the points for this. I am so keen to get started!

I never knew Amazon had a site dedicated to selling merchandise like custom premade Tshirts. I wonder if I could take my tshirt designs from another Tshirt website and upload them there on the Amazon merch site? I may probably have more success via Amazon than what I currently am using, which is Spreadshirt. I haven't really had much success with them even know I have quite a few designs on there.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

TommyCarey

I was using shopify combined with a dropshipper which is basically what amazon merch is, but you don't have to find clients since amazon is loaded with people already.

Running your own website to make sales is always a good thing, I would pair up amazon merch with my own website so that I have to sources of tshirt sales. Obviously if you make a sale from your own website you'll have to do a bit more work, but it's worth it if you're making a profit from the sale, right Start selling shirts online with no inventory. I had no idea about this opportunity which should be really inviting for those who love designing and are artistic. It is a great way to put your ideas into a product and seeing them realized in a tangible form. Many of these business people would not have managed to kick off such a venture on their own so I guess this is an awesome way to help such people get started and it seems really straightforward from the way you explained it. I also love the fact that they are said to be 'sold by Amazon' as it makes them look more professional.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

This is great for someone who is artistic and can use photoshop Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go! I have people asking me all the time where I get my designs, but I have some friends who are great artists and do work for me for a cut of the sales if I do sell a shirt lol Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

The "Sold by Amazon" is a great selling point. If someone knows that the shirt is printed and sold by amazon they are more than willing to buy since they don't have to deal with a random seller who could take a couple weeks to make and ship their shirts. I've heard they are super quick with their shirts and people usually get them within a week Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

That is a great lead time Razzy, I'm impressed.

Yes I am now thinking who I can use for great designs! I have zero design skills unless you count competent on Canva as design skills LOL

I have to source a really good designer now.

You can probably find some good, and affordable, designers here on SeoClerks. You could also use upwork to try and find someone to do the work for pretty cheap. Just be sure to ask for a portfolio before hiring and check their previous work. Don't hire anyone under a 90% completion rate and 50+ hours under their belt Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

This is a really cool thing you have shared. But it seems you need to be a big company or have a big fan-base to actually get accepted.
I mean if I was to design something right now, something very cool, like a clever Game of Thrones message and stuff like that, would I be able to sell t-shirts with my design? Will everyone on Amazon would be able to find my T-shirts inside Amazon search?
Or do I need a company to actually signs some sort of agreement with Amazon?
Thanks again for the share though, really cool idea!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

TommyCarey

Getting accepted is pretty random I think. I'm pretty sure they just work their way down a list and see who is working online already and who is wanting to break into the market. If you have a website up and running that is selling shirts already, you're more than likely going to get accepted. I didn't even have my website done when i was accepted, I think I had 20 of my 200 designs on there but Amazon didn't care lol.

I mean if I was to design something right now, something very cool, like a clever Game of Thrones message and stuff like that, would I be able to sell t-shirts with my design?
You sure could, if you had an amazon merch account. All you would do is upload your image and do everything I said in the original post. Your design would usually get accepted within 24 hours and then it's live on Amazon Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

Will everyone on Amazon would be able to find my T-shirts inside Amazon search?
Yup! I haven't researched their search algorithm yet, but I know it's not too advanced. You can keyword stuff the hell out of your listing and you'll have a much higher chance to show up Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

Or do I need a company to actually signs some sort of agreement with Amazon?
All you have to agree to is their Terms of Service Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go! You don't have to sign anything, I didn't. All you do is request an invitation and if/when you're accepted you get to work on uploading your designs Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!

Hi Razzy thanks for your nice sharing. It is really wonderful business idea. It is just looks simple and easy way to earn money to do simple few work. As your explanation very easy to understand how to create a product and where need to be SEO etc. But, I do not see any registration process by you. You could share it or you may share it by other post. I think this is very interesting or main part to get approve. Which already hitmeasap explained several points and there has lot of confusion. Why does it take 3 months to get approved?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

TommyCarey

As of right now people are saying it could take up to 9 months to get approved, but it's worth the wait.

It takes so long because Amazon Merch is essentially in it's late Alpha early Beta stages and they still have to work out all the kinks. They sometimes have a problem with inventory and it's a common thing with services like this because of the holidays. Around Christmas, Amazon froze their merch and no one could upload any new designs due to the fact that they were getting overwhelmed with sales.

I'm sure that when they get everything more streamlined it will be decrease the amount of time it takes to get accepted. And who knows, if you apply now you could get accepted pretty quick if they streamline everything tomorrow Start selling shirts online with no inventory. Amazon Merch is the way to go!
