Is it possible to go back to a 9 to 5 life ?

We all enjoy working for ourselves and have been doing so for some time now and actually i know most of us would not even look towards getting a job where you have to work for some one else. And, I know it does not cross any ones mind, but i really want to know you opinions on how it would make you feel if you had to go back to that life and would you ever go back to that if a great opportunity comes and presents it self in your face , feel free to give me details

A 9-5 J.O.B.! It's never going to happen with me, I hope! Is it possible to go back to a 9 to 5 life ?

I have been working for myself for a long time and have learned that if you want to be successful you have to work hard and work smart. If you have a great job as an engineer or a doctor or other profession, that you love you can be very happy and make a decent income without the added stress of being a business owner. Thinking back, I have had some horrible jobs throughout my college years that set me on my path never to work for anyone else but myself. Working for yourself is a hard choice when first starting out because you have to be motivated all the time to build your business or, you most likely will fail. I can't say that it has been the easiest path but the knowledge I have learned and the personal freedom, being my own boss far outweighs a 9 to 5 job, at least for me. I can' t say that I would ever take a 9 to 5 job unless it absolutely had to. It is even scary to even thing about going back into the 9 to 5 grind. Ugggh! Is it possible to go back to a 9 to 5 life ?

yea trust me i feel the same i have only dealt with part time jobs and from what i have been through it is nothing but stress and trouble down that road especially if you have the mind of some one who wants to independent it does not come easy shoot i think it is fair to say it is not even an easy thought too consider having to go back to working at a nine to five , i would feel set back if it came down to me having to work for some one else i have made so much progress by myself .

Working part time jobs is maybe better option (beside freelancing) if you are really tight on budget and need more money, because you make some there and have more time for freelancing, but also part time jobs can be even more troublesome then 9-5 jobs, depend who you deal with.

Yet, i still love to input more time in freelancing and work on my own. It's true that it's not always busy enough to pay off but there is much more options to go with... I like to work on my ideas and to improve them all the time, then listen to some stupid ideas of my bosses and doing it even when i know it's wrong Is it possible to go back to a 9 to 5 life ? Is it possible to go back to a 9 to 5 life ? Just because he / she say so... Is it possible to go back to a 9 to 5 life ?

Freelancing is great but being an entrepreneur is better, if freelancing doesn't make enough start another business for little to no start up cost and make a return fast and keep it going. When choosing a business to start make sure its something that people need. Sometimes when people start businesses they will create a need for something. Working part time to help someone else get rich is not a good idea you could be spending that time growing a business. The time for working people has past now with the internet almost anybody can make more than a living at home.

Yeah, totally agree with you, specially about entrepreneur thing, where is more options to earn even more money. And investing your own time to grow your own online business

I am happy just the way I am regardless of the earnings because it is just awesome to be able to set your own rules and be your own boss. Time and flexibility matters a lot to me since when I worked as an employee out of home I had set working hours which hindered the time I could spend with my family. When one has kids it becomes even more important to be available, and working as a freelancer from home gives you that benefit. I also love the fact that I do not have to answer to anyone.

yea i agree to be able to manage your self and your time to fit what you have going on is the best feeling, i love the fact that i can spend time with my loved ones also you know it feels good that i dont have to work crazy hours and be away from my family for too long , especially when it comes to kids i love spending time with my little ones they are what keeps me going and i dont think i would be able to give them as much attention as i do now if i worked 9 to 5

I've been a freelancer for about 5 years. Decided to drop everything and get into a high demanding job working 11 hours per day. Did that for about 3 years until I burned out. Decided to try a 9 to 5 job which I'm currently still doing at the moment. I still freelance in my free time though.

I'm the type of guy that loves changes, I can't stand monotony. I've worked at home as a freelancer at least 3 years and I was miserable. I had chaotic working hours and after a while, I was not that productive. Working alone online has a lot of negative aspects, like the lack of real interaction.

So I did an 180-degree change and went to work as a Naval Engineer for a big company in a really big shipyard. 3 years of long working hours, stress and deadlines. I loved every minute but this job was crushing my health and my relationships because it consumed all my time.

So, yet again, I decided to change my career 180 degrees. I now work as an SEO for a good online marketing agency in my hometown. 9-5 job with plenty of additional free time outside work. I now have the time for fun, for my family and also for freelancing.

Never! I would rather just be a stay at home mom and play with my kids.

I just won't be able to conform and stick to company rules and have someone tell me what to do all day. I have a problem with authority and I always have actually. I was in the past able to suck it up because I had to but now that I know I can do everything my own way when I want to, how I want to... well I will never be able to go back to that.

HI jkeyz2 thanks for your question. Oh dear I never did 9 to 5 job never and ever. That is why I am here working as freelancer. After competed my Masters I tried couple of month to managing a job. I seek a job here and there but I did not manage perfectly and I had a bad experience about 9 to 5 jobs. I never try to do that odd and ordinary job again in my life. I am here as freelancer almost 8 years and I am very happy to do work as outsource contractor and I know many ways to earning money now. So, Why I do need to go back as 9 to 5 job?

I should say never, never and never.

and you know that is great that is really what it is all about , you know you find things you are good at the goal of free lance is to be your own boss, nobody has a say so other then you , you know you do not feel pressured to go by any rules as i discussed in an earlier comment, it is just a better way to live when you live on your own time doing things and managing your life on your own dont have to worry about things like getting called in lol i dont think i will ever again either.

Hey jkeyz2,
I'll be honest with you all.. I've been working full time online for the past 4-5 years now and I do love it. I AM a freelancer at heart. I love the long working hours, sleepless nights and working my ass off for myself. I love to call myself a freelancer. With that being said, "?The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows" (quote from Rocky Balboa) and it's true. I usually stand on my bare knees a couple of months per year with nothing in my pockets due to living expenses and due to lack of income.. I have to earn enough during the "good months" to endure the "dark times".. And sure, I've been able to do it until know and I'm thankful for that..

A 9-5 job would mean a secure monthly income and yeah, I've had thoughts about it.. I've even had thoughts about giving up this whole freelancing career just because of that.. Even though I don't want to.

This year started off pretty good but I lost one of my biggest client last month.. So yeah. The shitstorm began so to speak..

However, I do everything I can do pull this thing all the way to the finish line, and if I manage to do that, then I'll stay where I belong. Online. In case I don't, then I'll probably leave everything behind and go for that boring 9-5 job instead.

And why I would leave everything behind and quit my freelancing career is because I don't honestly think that I'm capable of doing this part time.

Best Regards,
hitmeasap

I do both a 9 to 5 job and freelancing and I think it is very manageable. It is definitely possible to get back into a 9 to 5 job. I do prefer the freedom freelancing provides but sometimes, there are also advantages with a 9 to 5 job. With freelancing, you get paid only if you do work and if you get sick, you won’t have any income. However, if you are employed by other companies, you will have sick leave and you get paid even when you are sick. Going back to a job after being a freelancing is definitely possible given there are good opportunities.

Unfortunately, there is no such things as a 9 to 5 job in my profession. I've never held an accounting job that allowed me to time out at exactly 5 or 6. Overtime was the name of the game and we needed to be prepared to work long hours anytime. In my most recent job, I wasn't even paid overtime. It was typical for me to go home at 1 am and to report for work at 9 am. That is probably why I was burned out after more than a decade of working. Now, three years after working as a freelancer, would I ever want to go back to that kind of life? It's possible but it will take a huge, life-changing career opportunity and there aren't many of them these days. I'm still enjoying life as a freelancer and this year has been fantastic in terms of opportunity and earnings. I'm a #blessed freelancer.

Well, never say never though I'm enjoying the freedom that comes with freelancing,I might still go back to 9 to 5 if the pay is better.I love a job that the pay is commensurate with the work.So if the work comes with good pay I might reconsider.

I have a 3 month experience of a "9 to 5" job when I was on attachment. I wouldn't mind getting a job but I don't intend to work for someone for long. Just some capital and savings will help me start my own personal business.

I am a professional office worker for more than 30 years now with that so called 9-to-5 routine of work. With the part time freelancing that I am doing, I can say that freelancing gives me more freedom on what work to do. It is like giving me the option to choose the work unlike in office job where the work is dictated by the boss. However, the amount of income that I get from my office job is not possible to be earned by freelancing.
