Good things happen to those who work hard. True or false?

I am blessed let me just say that before anything and I've found success in many ways. Iwould love too take the time in talking bout some recent success without getting into to much detail . I have recently taken a risk on my business and upgraded a few things to increase productivity and my first couple investments have already paid for them selves so now with the additional equipment i am expecting my full money back in just a matter of time things are running smoothly and everything i got going right now is prosperous i am very proud of my self. any body willing to share any recent success?

It's definitely true, but it's not just because you worked hard. Just working hard isn't what grants you good things, it's how you work when doing it. That's a bit difficult to understand so I'll try to go into as much detail as I can.

Work hard AND smart
By working hard, but also smart, will grant you plenty of benefits in the long run. If you work a 9 to 5 for a company and you are the hardest worker, but do a shitty job, you won't see a promotion very quick. Now if you do the work systematically and bust your ass while taking action, you'll put yourself on the fast track for promotion Good things happen to those who work hard. True or false?

Put In The Hours
If you're not putting in a bunch of hours, you're not working hard enough. I work a minimum of 40 hours a week and I've seen plenty of my websites flop, but the ones that do go great, I push even harder and bust my ass even more. With a successful website I will work 60+ hours a week Good things happen to those who work hard. True or false? The problem with people today is that they just want a senior level position but don't want to work their way up to it.

Study Your Ass Off
Even if you have a Bachelors, Masters, or PHD in the field you're in, you still need to be studying so that you don't fall behind the competition. If you're working online, like most of us here, you need to be reading all the time on new updates and methods in order to beat out your competition. I wouldn't have clients stay with me for years if I didn't research techniques whenever I can.

Very good points.. let me add my own opinions based on my experiences working retail:
By working hard, but also smart, will grant you plenty of benefits in the long run. If you work a 9 to 5 for a company and you are the hardest worker, but do a shitty job, you won't see a promotion very quick.

I once worked for Dollar General part time as a Sales Associate. I was one of the best sale associates that the store manager had. I was basically doing a 3rd key(a step below assistant manager) employees work. I often asked about the 3rd key position as it was available, however I was not promoted and they hired 2 others for that position. I worked my ass off for that store, and basically got nothing in return, other than a weekly paycheck of basically nothing. It amazed me how I was doing all the work, yet I wasn't promoted or anything.
If you're not putting in a bunch of hours, you're not working hard enough.

I put in many hours, and even was the "go to" guy when someone called off. I lived very close to the store, and was able to get there in about 5 minutes, this was a good thing for employees whom at the last minute decided to call off, but bad for me, because they took advantage of that.. If I wasn't able to fill in for an employee they would get furious.

Yes but you can also do all the right things... for the wrong people and be taken for an idiot.

Some companies will see the hard work and dedication an employee puts in and mark that person as someone that is valuable and indispensable and treat them as such... other companies will see you as a doormat to be treated as such Good things happen to those who work hard. True or false?

However when you apply these things to working for yourself you fly.

Even when companies treat you very well is it not better to put all that hard work just into your own future and not into their bank account?

I agree with you. I used to work at an office once, where I was more qualified than most of the other employees. Then one fine day I discovered that there had been a call for new staff and those who were recruited where given a higher paying job, despite the fact that they had the same qualifications as I did. This frustrated me so much and I think it was the first spark that set me off to find something that was worth my experience and qualifications.

and its situations like these that can really make it feel like you are doing some thing wrong and the sad part is you know your self that you have doing every thing you need to do right , in life you go through things you have no control of and that can be the most unfortunate , like i mentioned in an earlier comment i went through similar before i was way over qualified for what i was doing even tried to get an open management position after they sent out a email saying that a position was available for any body on staff that was qualified and i did not even get a response smh

You need to keep going when things get tough. This is what separates the people that succeed and those that don't.

I read something a while back that I really enjoyed. It was an article showing how really famous and successful people struggled to find their first successes and how they failed and what they did.

I wish I remembered where I read that so I could pass it on to you. Most of the really successful people didn't just make it with a little hard work, they really did fail... a LOT first. What if they gave up after one or two failures?

That is a horrible feeling isn't it?

For me I like to be recognized for my efforts and if someone less worthy is given what I deserve I get very upset... I don't like being passed over.

But that is what makes people like us different from others isn't it? I didn't get what I needed from working for someone else. I didn't get the appreciation, the recognition, the money or the position I wanted... so I left and worked for myself instead.

Another thing is our healthcare system.. it is creating issues when trying to get a full-time job. So what companies would do is split a full-time position into two part-time positions to bypass a law that requires a worker to receive healthcare if they work full-time hours which is 30+ hours.

It's a bit frustrating, because no matter how hard you work, you won't get promoted. For instance, what happened with the 3rd key position is that they filled it with two part-time employees. I asked and asked for the position, and I didn't get it even though I was fully qualified to have it.

Oh man I would get annoyed! But those employers are not the type of companies that care about the people that work for them.

They may think they are being clever but I don't think so at all. If a company does not look after their staff properly their staff won't give two hoots about them in the long run. This will affect staff turnover, productivity and loyalty.

This will all cost them long term.

It annoyed me so much I eventually ended up quitting. As I said, I was one of the best employees there. Some customers only came in to see me, and would chat. That is what companies would like, for customers to go into the store and chat with employees, it's great customer service and you're promoting the brand, etc.

But not that company, all they cared about was saving money, and split full-time positions into part-time positions. However, I believe what they fail to realize is, if they split the positions, than it's going to cost more money to train and hire a new employee.

Well in the end it will mean huge losses for them.

In fact there was a similar thing here with a printing company I used. I didn't like the owners at all, I only dealt only with the one lady.

When she quit and started working at another company I moved to where she was working. I refused to deal with the old company.

The owners asked me why I wasn't placing any orders with them after a few months and I told them that they are rude and unpleasant. The only reason I was using them was because the one lady was a pleasure to deal with so when she left I had no reason to use them anymore.

They were surprised and tried to convince me to stay with them but I refused. I told them straight it was too little, too late. They should treat people properly the first time around, not treat them badly and then apologise later and beg for forgiveness.

you know like they say people do not ever quit the job most of the time the job is going good people quit bosses and that is honestly the complete bottom line , it sucks when you have to be taken like a doormat part of the reasons i ventured twords freelance i do not plan on being any ones door mat that is honestly out i wont let myself get to that , i refuse so your hard work is really way more valuable when you are in it for yourself and not working for the man so too speak

Yeah, I've been the go to guy and it's ridiculous that the managers get pissed off at you if you can't come fill in for someone elses shift because they didn't come to work. I shouldn't matter if you live 5 minutes away or 30 minutes away, based on availability, everyone should be asked to come in and not one person. When I had a 9 to 5 I was in the same spot, I would always get asked to come in because I would get the job done quick and it would be perfect. I would always have 40 hours on my schedule each week until I said I couldn't come in for someones shift because I had something to do. The manager would actually be upset with me because I couldn't cover for someone who was slacking off. They got just as mad at me for not being able to cover as they did for the person not coming in, it was ridiculous lol. I probably got asked around 3 or 4 times a month to cover someones shift and I probably said not 2 or 3 times a year. But those 2 or 3 times were the result of me getting less hours the next time the schedule was made. I remember talking with my GM about some event that was going on and he asked if I was going to be getting overtime for it. He didn't care about the overtime, he just wanted to see how much I was working. I joked around and said "Yeah, most likely. But it won't matter becasue next week I'll probably get scheduled for 20 hours". He then asked why I would only be working 20ish hours and I told him about what would happen if I said I couldn't cover for someone. He made me bring in all my schedules and sure enough, it showed that the times I got 20 hours a week was right after someone didn't show up for work and I was asked to come in lol. Needless to say, the person who was making the schedules was demoted and I consistently had 40+ hours a week after that Good things happen to those who work hard. True or false? I didn't get a promotion, but the person who use to write the schedules now had to listen to everything that I said Good things happen to those who work hard. True or false?

yea i know exactly what you mean i use to work for a restaurant and let me tell that was no walk in the park in fact i was working a few different positions for them and i could feel i was getting taken advantage of, there were guys who only were trained for one position getting paid 2-3 dollars more then me and here i am little old keyz working three positions so your right there are cases were hard work does not pay off and that is really unfortunate because a lot of employers lose great workers honestly

STUDY YOUR A** OFF ha ha love that you took the time to mention i truly believe there are people that do not see the importance in having the knowledge they need to work , people think success is easy as one two three and it is not, it can be a very rough road sometimes so stressing the fact that knowledge and not falling behind on what you know about your work is very important cause times do change and sometimes the things you know can be out dated or you always have the chance to be rusty so its always good to give yourself refreshers

Good for you jkeyz2. I agree with you that eventually good things happen to those who work hard for them and those who strive to keep going on no matter whats. Life is full of ups, as well as plenty of downs, and we often focus on negative experiences, such as in my case when I did not get the promotion I deserved. However eventually I was rewarded and at this point I feel that I have managed to achieve even more than I ever expected I would. I am pleased with my achievements and feel blessed and thankful for them.

ahh man i appreciate it it does mean a lot you know and that can be what it comes down too you just want to get your hard work and achievements recognized whether its by loved ones or associates you know it can always be a good thing getting that support and what some people fail to realize is that support only comes for the hard workers you rarely see any body who is lazy getting recognition i mean they are not doing any thing with themselves so hard work is essential too life just got to stay motivated and focused

Hi jkeyz2 thanks for your another nice question. I must believe good things should happen who work hard and it is 100% true. I can realize by myself what I had to do for become such position. And besides, I would like to say, you have to set the goal first than work hard to achieve it, either expecting result will not come. You never see any successful guy, who did not do hard working. All successful person convey behind hard working. As a beginner freelancer, I had work more than 18 to 19 hours in a day just for learning and working. Though I believe I have to go per way to catch my final goal.
So, again I should say without hard working, achieving good things never happen.

I think this is true to some extent. If you want to succeed, then you need to work hard but working hard doesn’t guarantee you to succeed. In the past I tried to work on a website that is in a fairly competitive niche and I put a lot of effort and work into it but it didn’t seem to pay off. The important thing is that you need good ideas and work hard at the same time with possibly a bit a luck. Working hard is important but it is only one stepping stone to success and not the cause of it.

I agree that hard work pays although not all the time. I have seen some people toil on their work for the business to flourish but it simply wouldn’t take off from the ground. In business, you need luck in order to succeed. But back to the hard work, I believe that it is better to work hard than not to work at all. When you work hard and you accomplish something, you get a feeling of achievement. That always reminds me of the Bible where God had made the creation in 6 days and He rested after. My imagination says that God may have sighed relief in seeing His creation. That’ also how I feel after finishing a project because of my hard work.
