I have script for a website, but it says it must be used on Linux PHP Enabled Hosting. What is Linux hosting compared to normal hosting that my other websites are on?
Most likely you are running on a Windows host now, which is very common and often preferred by host companies. You might need to get other hosting to run the script you have.

I am with HstGator, which I have 6 websites currently hosted. Im sure they do Linux hosting too.
But what is it that Linux Hosting does that other hosting cant? I don't understand the difference.
What is Linux Enabled Hosting?
SSH is a secure method of connecting to your hosting account to upload files, move files, and execute commands. Customers using paid Linux shared hosting accounts can enable it.
When you enable SSH, it is enabled for the primary FTP user associated to the account.
PHP works on Linux, Windows, BSD hosting without any issues. So PHP being compiled at webserver level any type of hosting can get the job done. But the LInux is cost saving. And Windows being license based OS, you may have more work to do on many counts. Also the cost is very low for the Linux based hosting. So you should take that into consideration. It's a good OS which is being used in many hosting.
