Should I create an intro video for my Youtube channel?

I have 15 videos on my Youtube channel and a very lengthy description on my channel page. However, some of my viewers have commented in the section under my videos that they don't understand the purpose of my channel. I have thought about creating an intro type video that would explain more about what I hope to achieve with my channel. Do you think this is a good idea? And, can you give me some tips for what type of info to include in the intro video or how to create it?

Why not. Create video about your channel and explain what is it about, then you can feature that video on your channel page for some time, so your visitors get idea, what is it about.

The first thing you should do is redefine what your channel is about. If you are hosting videos (uploads) from various niches, that could be confusing to your subscribers or viewers. Pick one niche to make your channel about and stick to that when creating video playlists or adding videos. You can create other niche channels on the same account if you wan to talk about another subject.

As for creating an intro video, that will only work if your entire channel is highly focused on one subject and not spread over many subjects. What use is an intro video if you are just talking about ten things not related to each other?

No one is really going to take time to watch an introductory video as it does no more than explain what your channel is about. They're more interested in your videos otherwise they would not be there.

You could just as easily include a detailed description of your channel's purpose on the description/about tab, which should include enough information to inform the channel visitor as to what you are trying to accomplish.

I guess you need that introductory video to clarify what your channel is all about. But make is very short so it will not bore your viewers. I have seen lengthy intros that I exit after 30 seconds of watching. Make the most of the 30 seconds, that is the attention span of most viewers especially if you don't have their loyalty yet. Good luck to your introductory and don't forget the emphasize the title of your channel which should be descriptive enough.
