Hey friend, Its not really an easy task. But I have done in some of my blogspot even with out TLD. But they have very good content with out any spammy link building. However they get relevant links.

If you are interest in getting 1st rank do make a quality content 1st. Then hire someone to do other part. This must be included following;
1. Improve the On site optimization
2. Improve the domain authority
3. Improve the popularity of site
