When pages load slow... does this happen to you?

Whenever I visit pages, they seem to load slow. So I end up seeing the alt tag, rather than the actual image until the photo loads. I don't know if this is related to my internet speed or the website being loaded.

I wonder how other site visitors see this situation. Would this discourage someone from staying on a site if they could not see the images but only the alt tag showed where images should be? That can't be good for SEO right?

In the early days of the internet, Google decided that alt tags were important for images to accommodate internet users who had slow speed or could not view the images on the screen. These tags were meant to describe what the image was about. So what you are seeing is by design, not accident. If you could not see the images due to slow internet speed, then the tags were meant just for you.
