    What if you only used blog posts for backlinks, would that be a smart choice for backlinking?

    Getting a variety of links from various sources looks more natural and less orchestrated to Google. It would be suspicious if all your backlinks came only from blogs.

    Yes, you can rank using one method of link building as well, just vary anchor text.. but if you use different source of links then it would be more helpful.

    Just backlink from well established sites, not new blogs which you have created recently as those don't have much credibility.

    Nope. I would suggest you to broaden your scope for getting backlinks. The simple reason for me to suggest on broadening your scope, is that it will help you in getting more links with less effort.

    Why not spread your links around so they don't appear artificial. Google might suspect that you are running a linking campaign if you are too obvious with the type of sites you link from.

    You should try to get backlinks from authority and high ranking sites. If you get backlinks from high ranking sites and authority sites, your site will be more trusted by Google and other search engines. You should spread your links to various sites, not just only on blogs. Forums can be a good place to gain backlink. You can try sharing your url as a forum signature.
