Adwords is based on an ad system where you bid for placement and also pay when your ad is clicked on. Set your bid very low, so that your ad won't be shown unless other higher competing advertisers bid on the same spots.

In your Adwords panel, there is a way to specify a daily budget, so that after your ads are clicked on that many times, they are not shown anymore until the next day. And, this stops your ad budget from being wasted in one day.

I find Bing ads to be cheaper with similar conversion rates. Sometimes even 7search can be better than Adwords. Although it gives the least conversions, it's CPC is much lower.

Just decide on your budget ahead of time and don't go over that. Google will only use your allotted budget per day, so you never have to worry about too many clicks daily draining your money too fast.
