Do you ever get distracted on Google search?

Sometimes, when I'm doing a search on Google, I will come across some very interesting sites and when clicking on the links find myself staying on those sites a long time, reading other posts/pages not included in my original search. In that way, Google search is helping me but also providing an unwanted distraction as it takes me away from my work.

Yes all the time. Usually happens when I have the most work to do and then I do not get it done, pushing my schedule into a frenzy.

Yes I do. I get distracted very easily, so I try my best to only look for what I need.

Most times, this distraction happens when I'm most tired and my brain is craving some kind of break from work. Maybe it happens to everyone like that.

In the past I was easily distracted online. Then I simply learned to use an egg timer and give myself five minutes to complete each search and find the pages I wanted. When the timer went off, I would shut the tab and move back to my original project with the information and links I'd gained. This is a useful time management technique.

I should do the egg timer then I may be able to be more productive.

The egg timer suggestion really works. Also, if you can use an online timer, it will sound off on your speakers after a certain period of time. That's a very useful technique that has worked for me.

LOL all the time. I start to look something up and then think of something else I want to look up and before I know it, I have many tabs opened and nothing researched.

Yes all the time. I will look something up and then see something that I think looks interesting so I click on that and then sort of get off track.

Yes who really does not? I start searching for one thing and then get wrapped up into something else.

Yes all the time. I hear a song and then want to find it on youtube, or read a headline and then have to go find that story. It is very distracting.

I would be lying if I said no. I really do because it is so easy to get distracted when there are so many things that you can be checking out.

Just make your search on Google, find what you want and leave. It couldn't be more simple than that. There is no need to get distracted onto side topics.

There is no reason to go off on randem searches with Google as most of the searches provided are very targeted.

Yes they are but sometimes when I am searching then I think of other things that I want to search. This is how I get distracted.

This happens to me a lot, especially when I'm checking emails and click on a link in a shopping email and then get distracted on the product website for half an hour. That can happen too if I click on a Google Adword for a favorite company. It's a big distraction.

I still do get distracted but I try to limit how distracted I get these days.

That tends to happen to me at times and it really gets on my nerves really. I wish I wouldn't just click on stuff so much but I can't blame google.

I try not to but I usually have 4 or more tabs up and running so it is easy to get distracted.

No usually not. I am usually able to stay on task and only search for what I need to be searching for.
