Will cheap customers ever become repeat customers?

Another falsehood about freelancing is how cheap or nearly free services will give you repeat customers and help you build a portfolio. The people who are looking for cheap services are not usually the ones that become regular customers anyway and will always shop around for lowest price. As you gain more credibility, the same person who was a regular of your dollar services will go elsewhere once you raise prices.

Do you find this to be true in your freelancing work?

It just depends on the buyer's motivation for buying the $1.00 or cheap service. Were they trying to save money or merely interested in trying your services out to test quality? Either way, you can easily win over even a tough customer by performing very well and delivering the highest quality services. Even a buyer on a budget is more likely to spend more later (or return for repeat purchase of services) when they know you can deliver results.

I've offered a service for $1 before and then bumped it up to $2. I've had the same customer come back time and again for the same thing.

There will always be those that will always look for those cheapest product. Even if one raises their prices, just by a bit, there will be some that see if they can get it for a few cents cheaper.

When I market via affiliate marketing I will promo great services, with high ratings at the lowest price. Customers don't always buy what I showcased but they tend to buy more service even at higher prices consistently. The up-sell is done by the customer themselves through the shop - compare and purchase method of the website.
