Is it possible to create a website (not a blog) without knowing HTML? I have been a lifelong blogger but would like to create a site. I don't want to learn HTML. Is there a shortcut?
Realistically you can create a beautiful website these days without knowing HTML. Some sites like Jimdo let you create a site in a few steps just by clicking your mouse button. There are many similar free web builder sites.

Weebly, Webs and Wix are great places to create free websites. Though you might prefer Tumblr or Blogger if you are a natural blogger as you don't have to do much for site maintenance.
Forget html/css. Use Wordpress and learn html/css when you need to edit the theme. I think it's pretty much useless learning html/css form scratch nowadays, because everyone knows how to make websites.
True story: I make a website or two for clients every once in a while. No one wants to pay 500$ for a HTML/CSS website any more, they rather hire a guy to make it for 150$. And what do they do for 150$? They buy or crack a WP theme, customize it a little bit and that's it. If one spends 3 hours for WP theme installation and customization, other one spends 20 hours for developing html/css website in Dreamweaver from scratch.
Now if you know much about PHP and programming languages, than this is a different story. If you want to learn that, good luck and I'll see you in 2 years
Wordpress is also easy to understand and you can create a site without knowledge of html and coding I would say.
You can use website builder to create a good professional looking websites without any knowledge of coding. However, using website builders services such as weebly or webs can be really costly. You need to pay at least $4 every month, $48 in a year is really big money. Instead you can create a wordprress site. If you know how to use themes and plugins, you will easily create a beautiful website without any coding skills.
In the earlier days of the internet, my husband had studied Dreamweaver. He doesn't know HTML except for the meaning of the acronym. It was surprising that he could create webpage designs after a few days of attending a tutorial. Truly, Dreamweaver is the website builder for non-tech like us. However, I don't know how much the license is of that software and if it is still in fashion.
You don't need to learn HTML just google: Free Websites and you'll get a lot of results Weekly is a good one. You can use their templates for an easy website done in minutes.
There is one major drawbacks of using free website builders. Your website will have a subdomain. You can use premium services, however, this is an expensive option. The best way is to create self hosted website on wordpress platform. You can customize your wordpress site with free themes and plugins.
