Blogging for the love of it

Today I came across a really amazing Wordpress blog, that is not monetized in any way and contains very long posts. The blogger seems to just be blogging for the love of it. And, with so many people talking about blogging for SEO or earning money with blogging, just wondering if there are many other bloggers who blog just out of personal passion. What's your motive for blogging? Do you blog because you love writing about your topic, such as without looking for money? Or, do you always insist on having a way to monetize your blog?

Most likely, that person has a good job and only blog because they want to express opinions, not to earn money. And, that's what blogs were originally designed for, to give people a place to sound off about issues.

There's nothing wrong with earning from a blog, if you also provide informative and fun information for your visitors to read. The purpose of a blog is to impart information and so long as you are doing your job with that, you should be able to monetize as you want.

You need to understand couple of things. What do you blog?
To communicate with the readers
To express your thoughts
To make money
If you want to communicate through your blog, you need to have readers. There is no point in publishing blogs if no one is reading. If you don't have readers, why don't you write on a notepad instead of publishing on the internet. Perhaps, the writer of the blog mentioned on this thread knows nothing about blogging.

When I got an invitation to write for a blog, I felt so excitedand I couldn’t sleep that night. Ideas were swirling in my head. And when I
submitted my first article, it was pretty good although I had to rewrite it to
adapt to the style. I really enjoyed blogging because my articles are all about
my pet dogs. That’s why I was really surprised when I was given a token for my
effort. I never imagined to get paid for my writing.

One thing I have to say is that those that are into blogging do so first for the love of it. I mean it is difficult to succeed on a given business without having the passion and drive to do so. The owner of that blog might be using that to promote values which is entirely different from making money from blogging.

I started my blog as just where I shared my ideas and views then also to get peoples views about a thing or events and people liked it and get coming back for more discussions I wasn't making a dime from it until recently. So I think first people really go in to express their views before monetizing it.
