What are some of the requirements of staff?

What requirements do you have for your staff members, including staff admin, moderator, writer or editor or any other staff position?

All moderators must do spam patrol but also link removal from posts, not just deleting spam posts. This is a key job for anyone who wants to be moderator. As for admin, they can tweak the big settings of the forum such as adding new subforums, promotion, contests, etc.

I want a moderator who can be on forum a lot, not just once or twice a week. If they can come by daily even in morning and evening that will be much better as it would allow me time to take care of more pressing matters

Although you don't often think of this power as belonging to a mod, on some forums, the moderator has the power to reward forum members for their excellent posts through making them sticky, giving users scores/points which are redeemable in the forum shop.

The moderator's best job is to foster a sense of community, by responding promptly to forum posts as they are made rather than waiting. They should set the example and respond if they are on forum.

In what I know of the forum of that my husband was managing, the only requirement for moderator job is the regular logging in to monitor the boards. Their forum is about entertainment because their office website is owned by a movie industry organization. In other words, not much to be expected from a moderator because the theme is common and not a niche of sorts. And most of the issues in their forums are spam posts which are already a given thing so it's like automatic for the moderators on what to do with those unwanted posts on their forum.
