    Do you want members to necropost or would you prefer a new thread be posted of a similar topic? Which is better for SEO?

    My policy is that you should just post a new discussion if the original is more than six months old with no recent updates. For instance, if the discussion hasn't received new replies in a month, it's alright to make a new similar discussion.

    I wonder why some forums disallow replies to old threads. As far as I know, a thread, whether old or new, is content so what is the issue of old threads? Although I prefer to read a newer thread than an old one, but if the old thread has substance and still relevant then that's fine with me.
